A Celebration of Indonesian Music, Dance, Theatre & Food

Friday April 15, 7:30pm: Balinese Music & Dance, with Gamelan Gita Asmara and special guest dancers Dewa Ayu Eka Putri & Putu Widiantini

Saturday April 16, 7:30pm: Wayang Shadow-Puppet Theatre with Gamelan Madu Sari, and special guest puppet-master, Matthew Cohen.   Opening the evening is Toronto’s Sunda Duo performing on traditional Zither and flute instruments.  This promises to be a journey of magic and delight, certain to appeal to adults as well as children!

Sunday April 17, 3:00pm: Chamber Gamelan music, with Javanese Gamelan Madu Sari, and Sundanese (Western Java) Gamelan Si Pawit, and special guests Andrew Timar and Bill Parsons (Sunda Duo members).  Featured pieces include traditional works, as well as an arrangement of Steve Riley’s “In C” and several original new compositions, taking listeners to the various islands of Indonesia and beyond.
