In April 2012 Copenhagen Phil (Sjællands Symfoniorkester) surprised the passengers in the Copenhagen Metro by playing Griegs Peer Gynt. The flash mob was created in collaboration with Radio Klassisk http://radioklassisk.dk/. All music was performed and recorded in the metro.

The GREAT Campaign came to life at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on May 24 2012, with an exciting flash mob near the international food court (performed to 'Jumpstart' by These Kids Wear Crowns). Dancers were dressed as the Spice Girls, The Beatles, Austin Powers, David Beckham, Elton John and Harry Potter, alongside Union Jack T-Shirts - celebrating GREAT Britain. The UK is in the world spotlight in 2012, with the Diamond Jubilee and London Olympics fast approaching. The GREAT Campaign is a global initiative, which leverages this platform, to remind the world of what is GREAT about Britain, For more information visit: www.facebook.com/ThisisGREATBritain

What is so bizarre and sad about this situation is that I read a book back in 1990 talking about Ecuador and all the damage that was done there with broken pipelines and spills and here I am blogging about such a tragedy and telling people about this terrible thing that is happening...and then all of sudden here it is. Right in my backyard....the same potential for LOOMING disaster,...

We all have to get together and make our voices heard on this. It's going to be a tough to win but we can do it. Be sure to share this and tell there friends. TAKE ACTION! JOIN THE MOVEMENT. STOP THE PIPELINE!

I've been seeing alot of interesting media reports coming out of Quebec. This video really peaked my interest. I'm not condoning any violence but I am sure proud of all the people coming together to support radical bills and unfairness. The education system is just a money making racket that leaves people with huge debt and it's good that people recognise it and stand up for their rights!

HAPPY VICTORIA DAY

Happy Victoria Day! Well it's pouring :(  The pool opened this weekend and it was sunny and beautiful although there was a slightly chilly wind, hey we were loving it. But then the clouds rolled in and it got windy and started pouring and it's still pouring. What to do?

Paint...that's what I will do in a bit. Just have to go get some canvas...and we have to venture out into the wet cold day, but it will be worth it :)

Go for a walk...in the rain. Sometimes it's fun to go out and get all wet. Really enjoy the rain, especially if you can walk in the forest or at the beach. The air does smell lovely when it's pouring and Mother Nature is cleaning everything...including the air.

Clean- Yuck...forget that! It's a holiday ;)

Visit with friends, that's always nice. Try to get a group of friends together and go out for lunch.

Make something...on the computer or with your hands. Work on that photo album or video or what ever it is you never seem to get to...today is the day.

Snuggle up and watch a movie. Even better if you have someone to snuggle with!

Go out for HOT CHOCOLATE! After a long walk in the wet wet rain go out for some delicious hot chocolate...or make it a home, watch a movie ...don't forget the marshmellows.

Take a long hot bath. After your lovely walk in the pouring rain, take a lovely long soak in the tub.

Well that a few suggestions. It's Victoria Day and it's raining, make the best of it.

Here's a link with a few more suggestions.

Go to the Beer Festival or Run Naked at Wreck Beach ;D

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead

Margaret Mead
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Mead

Margaret Mead (December 16, 1901 – November 15, 1978) was an American cultural anthropologist, who was frequently a featured writer and speaker in the mass media throughout the 1960s and 1970s.[1] She earned her bachelor degree at Barnard College in New York City, and her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Columbia University.
She was both a popularizer of the insights of anthropology into modern American and Western culture and a respected, if controversial, academic anthropologist. Her reports about the attitudes towards sex in South Pacific and Southeast Asian traditional cultures amply informed the 1960s sexual revolution. Mead was a champion of broadened sexual mores within a context of traditional western religious life. Read More

I can't help but cry and get the shivers when I watch it and yet it makes me smile. AMAZING VIDEO!!

I have a lot of questions about life lately, about my future and my child's--my possible future grandchildren...

I've experienced some really dark things in my life and sometimes things could be quite dark even now, but I "feel the angels and spirits of my loved ones" holding me up and by "thinking positive thoughts" I get through tough times. God's LOVE protects me.  Choosing love creates love. Focusing on love helps love grow. I am so GRATEFUL for this knowledge and all the lessons in life I have learned. And some were very hard lessons. I am GRATEFUL for this beautiful life and my child and I THANK God and the Universe and all things positive, good and beautiful that I am here to share life's experiences with my child. I am so GRATEFUL for all my gifts and for the greatest gift of all ---my life.

This video is so AWESOME as it totally puts things in perspective and helps one realize how GREAT our lives are and how truly BLESSED we are. Have WONDERFUL DAY!

Be Sure to send out lots of love to all the BEAUTIFUL  people you meet today!

Please read my little story of what led up to the race. Did you have a similar experience?

I just really fell in love with the whole story because of the connections...a Mexican, who had worked in Vancouver, went to the U.S. and won the Kentucky Derby. A union between 3 countries. Really cool. There was so much confusion after the race...it seem like magic or something happened, a miracle. Super cool. Congratulations Mario Gutierrez and I'll Have Another. WELL DONE!!!

Love this video. The Kentucky Derby is on today 5hrs and 44 minutes from now and something special is happening. A mexican jockey  from Vancouver is riding on a very special horse. Read all about it here!

Mario Gutierrez of Mexico, who has been working in Vancouver at the Hastings Park Raceway is now about to race the Kentucky Derby on a horse called I'll Have Another!

I'm not really into the horseraces but this race is always interesting on one of the coolest parts is the hat.  Check out this video.

Be the Difference- STOP BULLYING

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2012

Yesterday my little girl came home and she was telling me about how they were talking about bullying and what happens. They were even discussing suicide which shocked me a bit. I asked her why, and she explained that sometimes when kids are really bullied they commit suicide. "Wow," I said," how did you feel.?" "How did the other kids feel, were you upset?". She said she was okay. Pretty heavy things to be talking about in grade school but that is exactly where the bullying is coming from and growing everyday. We can all make a difference. This movie will make a difference, but kids need to see it!

I hate that when people say "Oh they are just being kids." That's crap. We have to all work together and really teach our children to treat others as they wish to be treated. Teach them how to respond when kids taunt them or their friends. Let them know they are not alone. When someone is being singled out by a bully, take that kid's side, and get others to join. Don't let the bully win.

I've blogged alot about bullying. Recently I put my daughter into school. It was hard as the bullies/mean girls are one of the big issues why I didn't want her to go and one of the most difficult things to deal it. We were shocked at the things they said and did. I have been protecting my girl from this. It's a big reason we homeschooled.

I didn't want her damaged. I was horribly bullied through my youth and I didn't want her to feel that pain. She has though been hurt. Thankfully she tells me what's going on and I constanting try to scope out the situation and let her know I have her back.  Luckily the teachers and principal have been really great addressing things. For now I feel pretty good right, but I really don't know if I want to keep exposing her to this negativity.

We have talked about all of it and we have addressed it and we are constantly talking about it and how we can handle different situations.  It's a tough battle, as it is so emmersed in our entire environment, school, community, work, our whole welfare system, the police...it's everywhere, it's a nightmare.

But WE MUST NEVER GIVE UP,  WE MUST STAY STRONG AND UNITED!   Get educated about what you can do to stop it and act! You could save a life!

Stop Bullying- The crumpled paper project
(this was shared on Facebook-not sure who started it)
A teacher in New York was teaching her class about bullying and gave them the following exercise to perform. She had the children take a piece of paper and told them to crumple it up, stamp on it and really mess it up but do not rip it. Then she had them unfold the paper, smooth it out and look at how scarred and dirty is was. She then told them to tell it they’re sorry. Now even though they said they were sorry and tried to fix the paper, she pointed out all the scars they left behind. And that those scars will never go away no matter how hard they tried to fix it. That is what happens when a child bully’s another child, they may say they’re sorry but the scars are there forever. The looks on the faces of the children in the classroom told her the message hit home. Pass it on or better yet, if you're a parent or a teacher, do it with your child/children.

"The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius"
https://www.facebook.com/intergalacticshamanic.mysticangel

From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius is either the current or new age in the cycle of astrological ages. Each astrological age, resulting from very slow precessional movement of the Earth's rotation, is approximately 2,150 years long, on average, but there are various methods of calculating this length that may yield longer or shorter time spans depending upon the technique used. Unlike sun-sign astrology where the first sign is Aries, followed by Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces, whereupon the cycle returns to Aries and through the zodiacal signs again, the astrological ages proceed in the opposite direction or order – normally termed retrograde. Therefore, the Age of Aquarius follows the Age of Pisces. It has been said that we are currently shifting into the Aquarian Age

From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquarius/Let_the_Sunshine_In

"Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" (commonly called "The Age of Aquarius" or "Let the Sunshine In") is a medley of two songs written for the 1967 musical Hair by James Rado & Gerome Ragni (lyrics), and Galt MacDermot (music), released as a single by The 5th Dimension. The song peaked at number one for six weeks on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in the spring of 1969. The single became the first medley to top the American pop charts and was eventually certified platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA.[1]
The song listed at #57 on Billboard's "Greatest Songs of All Time."[2]

May Day May Day May Day

When I googled May Day today, these 3 explanations came up on Wikipedia. I found it very interesting that when you repeat it 3x it's a distress call.  Very fitting for this point in time. I think the many many people of the earth are calling May Day May Day May Day as well as Mother Earth.  We need help! Keep Safe and PEACEFUL today! Stay Strong!

International Workers' Day (also known as May Day) is a celebration of the international labour movement and left-wing movements. It commonly sees organized street demonstrations and marches by working people and their labour unions throughout most of the world. May 1 is a national holiday in more than 80 countries. It is also celebrated unofficially in many other countries. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Workers%27_Day

May Day on May 1 is an ancient Northern Hemisphere spring festival and usually a public holiday;[1] it is also a traditional spring holiday in many cultures. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_Day

Mayday is an emergency procedure word used internationally as a distress signal in voice procedure radio communications. It derives from the French venez m'aider, meaning "come help me".[1]
It is used to signal a life-threatening emergency primarily by mariners and aviators, but in some countries local organisations such as police forces, firefighters, and transportation organizations also use the term. The call is always given three times in a row ("Mayday Mayday Mayday") to prevent mistaking it for some similar-sounding phrase under noisy conditions, and to distinguish an actual Mayday call from a message about a Mayday call. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayday
