UPDATE: Jun 6 2016- MAYBE someone did hear us!!!

Mayor Gregor Robertson warns that unsustainable increases in housing prices threaten Vancouver economy

 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
that never happened. Fail!

Update: Maybe it wasn't such a fail, we did make news on CBC and Global.

We tried!

SADLY, it just didn't come together. Not that I was prepared to SleepOver but I was ready for a picnic and music and speeches and to video and photograph...but not many people showed up.

It was probably due to the fact that yes, it started as a joke and I thought it was a great idea to get something going so I put it on my blog to try and get it leverage and others tried to get music together...

this morning the CBC was asking who was organizing it and I pointed out a few people but...

even though we got all that together we didn't have enough PEOPLE POWER.

What is it Vancouver? Are you truly that apathetic or was it that is was a work day, and the time and date changed over and over...so there were lots of issues...no one wants to show up at a non event and I am so very sorry for the woman and child that did. Really sorry, I would be pissed if I did it.

Sending you a big hug, thank you for your effort. It is appreciated. I hope if and when it happens again, you can join us. But the rest of you...if you care about your fellow man, then speak up. One day it may be you that is being evicted or some other housing horror story...and you will have wished you had taken a stand with us then.

You know there was a Monsanto March this year and no one went...like just a 100 people. Compare that with the Pot Protest- (WHICH I state here for the record- we did not attend - I ONLY photographed from the bridge...just to document history!!!)

Seriously Vancouverites, what are your prerogatives...

Not housing obviously....you don't care what's going in your food (Monsanto march no show) and now I guess you really may not care about housing...is that true..there was a bunch of people who showed up Kerrisdale awhile back...but what happened today...???

I really don't want to believe that you really have no empathy for that homeless man begging in front of Wholefoods as you collect your tiny bags worth of $100 + groceries.

I guess I was wrong, apparently you don't care about the Declaration of Human Rights. Maybe you don't know YOUR Human Rights. http://www.claiminghumanrights.org/udhr_article_25.html

  1. Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.
  2. Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection.

 Are these days gone....

So we know we care about the Climate

People definitely care about Alberta and Fort McMurray
 https://tinawinterlik.blogspot.ca/2016/05/150-million-to-help-fortmurrayfire.html

and the Refugees...what about the people in your neighbourhood.

Anyways to the people made an effort and those who truly wished to be there but couldn't, THANK YOU! YOU ROCK!

At least Michael and Marilyn did talk to someone from the housing department.
That's something. Better than nothing. Right?

Here's a few videos and photos of today!

Do you know about Treaties?

Do you remember this?
http://globalnews.ca/news/1416321/city-of-vancouver-formally-declares-city-is-on-unceded-aborginal-territory/

"Vancouver city council has unanimously voted to acknowledge that the city is on unceded Aboriginal territory.  Mayor Gregor Robertson declared a ‘Year of Reconciliation’ last summer, in the hopes of building new relationships between Aboriginals and Vancouverites."

For those of you who are homelessness, living in relative homelessness or facing homelessness, please don't give up!!

We're going to try again, but this is going to take a HUGE UNITED EFFORT, ........next time we need everyone onboard.

Sending out love and light, praying for homes, for social justice, for humanity to wake up and unite.
