We could call it Peace!!

There's a name for separation
There's a name for first and last
When it's all for us or nothing
For me the name is past
But there's still time to turn around
And make all hatred cease
And give a name to all the future
And we could call it peace

We could call it Peace!!

And when the papers all were signed
And a million copies made
They all joined hands and bowed their heads
And grateful prayers were prayed
And the people in the streets below
Were dancing round and round
And guns and swords and uniforms
Were scattered on the ground

Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war

Our #NationalCircle Action

To everyone but ESPECIALLY  all youth I send love and light and hope to inspire.

Today I took my daughter to my class and it's a wonderful opportunity to use this as an example of #NationalCircle

This class is a very special class.

We call it Carving4Reconciliation but it's actual name started out as the
Aboriginal Reconciliation Carving Cohort at Langara College.

Under the very careful and wise guidance of Aaron Nelson Moody ( also known by his Squamish name Tawx’sin Yexwulla which translates to Splashing Eagle http://splashingeagle.ca/ ) we have learned to create our own knives and carve small carvings. Along the way we have learned many teachings about safety, respect, traditions, residential schools, ...it's been a journey. We have been on a canoe ride. Soon our journey together will be over.

As well we have be blessed with the presence and wisdom of  Shane Pointe- Knowledge Keeper-*Elder-Wise One

Shane Pointe, Musqueam Elder - Knowledge Keeper/Elder in Residence, Vancouver School Board
If you have not heard him speak, you must. Listen!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i8XL54pf0A

Justin Wilson has also been a huge part of this experience and together between, Aaron, Shane, Justin and my 18 classmates we have been on one heck of a journey. We've shared a roller coaster of emotion but good things are coming out of it. We are all growing, healing and learning from each other and a truly amazing experience is the result.

This is what we have been working on.

Now, together the class of 18 is carving 2 red cedar panels. The cedar trees used to create the panels were approx 500+ years old. I believe that in itself is sacred.

People from all walks of life coming together to be apart of this amazing journey, I believe that is sacred  in it's own right too.

Carving and completing panels honoring the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and the Children of the residential schools, and the Survivors is sacred.

Check out my blogspost on my related blog.

Since Sept. 2016 I have learned to carve.
This is some of what I have created.

The AFN is asking Indigenous peoples and all Canadians to pray or perform ceremonies according to their own beliefs, faiths and customs. We want to inspire all people to share messages of hope and love to communities across the country.

BC Childcare Crisis has existed 15+ Years! SHAME!!!

Wow, takes me back. I remember nearly 15 years ago...well actually let's say 16 years ago...when I was pregnant and taking the prenatal course over on Commercial drive...come to think of it...and the Registered Nurse teaching the course asked me if I was prepared for daycare and what my plans were for working and taking care of the baby. I was clueless.

I had NO IDEA that daycares were $900 a month for babies, $675 for 3 and older ($15 a hour private) and there were lots of rules- on both sides and well it was a huge awakening into how f___d the world is when you have to pay nearly as much as you make to PAY someone to take care of your child. Sort of takes the fun out of motherhood when your are super stressed trying to survive...and can't raise your own child :( (Hello behavioral problems...).

I shall not go on...but just one more point..Paul Martin ? he was going to bring in the $10 day care plan back when Angel was about 3.5...but he lost the Federal election. He was basically bringing in Quebec's daycare plan. I heard that was formed when women went to man in charge of that ministry at the time and locked the door and kept him there until he agreed. I like that! Sending love and light, let's do what's right. Let's take care of moms and kids!! Free daycare for all!!

Let them run in the forest...green schools, gardens, solar...the future..we got to go for it. If Vancouver doesn't become the greenest, socially just city ever...that will suck because we know what is wrong, we have the technology and knowledge..we just all need to work together to do it. Do we have the wisdom?

I don't know why this $6million man clip popped into my head...I guess I am nostalgic..after sharing the clips for Norma Rae yesterday.

We were fed all this hope and that technology could make things better. But where is wisdom and ethics. We have the technology...we can rebuild the systems...Go Green. A Socially Just world.

Sculpture "The Fearless Girl"

The sculpture, titled “The Fearless Girl,” was made by Kristen Visbal and photographed by Federica Valabrega.

"The stunt, timed to International Women’s Day on Wednesday, is meant to symbolize the power of women in leadership. More specifically, it’s part of a campaign by SSGA to emphasize that companies with women in top positions perform better financially."

The sculpture, titled “The Fearless Girl,” was made by Kristen Visbal and photographed by Federica Valabrega. The guerrilla aspect of the placement is in keeping with the Charging Bull itself, which was installed without permission by artist Arturo Di Modica in 1989.

#ICantKeepQuiet & Choir, Choir, Choir

Published Youtube on Feb 17, 2017
In the face of adversity, MILCK refuses to be silent. The Los Angeles-based singer went viral at the Washington Women’s March with her song “(I Can’t Keep) Quiet.” We loved it. So we invited her to come sing it with us.

On February 6th, a sold-out crowd of 1300 singers at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto raised their voices to protest the current US administration’s threatening action on global liberty, women’s rights, healthcare etc. Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman, co-founders of C!C!C!, taught their arrangement of “Quiet” to the pumped-up, all-ages crowd, and an hour later, MILCK joined them to sing lead and record a powerful show of peaceful, harmonic resistance, with proceeds going to support the American Civil Liberties Union.

“Quiet” has quickly grown from female empowerment anthem to a unifying message of hope and raucous protest for young and old, and for all genders. Play it, feel it, share it!

Song: "Quiet" by MILCK.

But this was written on the original..that I had uploaded...

(Filmed and written by Alma Ha'rel)
These women are from different states and never met till today. They practiced this song online. I was crying the whole time I filmed this. Show them some love. #WomensMarch #ANTHEM #Icantkeepquiet #TogetherWeRise SECOND DAY - Woke up to 2.5 million views! Hello world x I'm adding some more details here because everyone is asking in private messages and I can't answer y'all but I'm so incredibly happy and thankful you are listening to this. So.... I'm a film and commercial director (www.almaharel.com) and was in the march to support women of all races around the world coming together and get heard. I did not know these women or the artist. I now found out she goes under the name of MILCK (Icantkeepquiet.org) and that she gathered women from all around the country to sing this #Anthem at the #WomensMarch and practiced it online with them on Skype. They only met once before the march and some met that day for the first time!

I was lucky or sent (depending on your preference) to stumble upon her. My phone's battery died from the cold and I was lost and with out my friends who were back stage. I was wondering around trying to navigate the incredible crowds when I found my self this pocket of space around these women. When they started singing, I checked on my phone frustrated that it's dead and it suddenly sprung back to life... :) hence missing the beginning. This song and it's sentiment made me cry tears of relief the whole time I was filming it. The beauty and the harmony of their voices captured for me how women can come together to find their voice. This song is simply healing and empowering in the best possible way.

No one can explain you the feeling of being surrounded by that number of women from every race who come together all around the world. 627 marches! #TOGETHERWERISE None of us are free until we are all free. This march was special because it accounted for all women of all races. Women of color and poor women are most likely to suffer more from this administration than anyone. Same goes for immigrants. We marched for everyone and for the LGBTQ community.

ALSO stop trying to tell us we don't know what's happening in the middle east... I am from the middle east and this song is for women everywhere.
Stop dividing us.

Let me finish by posting all the lyrics for I CAN'T KEEP QUIET. Let's make it our #Anthem. I hope to sing it with you on our next march because WHEN WE HARMONIZE THEY CAN'T DIVIDE US.

“Quiet”
Written by MILCK and AG
Produced by AG
put on your face
know your place
shut up and smile
don’t spread your legs
I could do that

But no one knows me no one ever will
if I don’t say something, if I just lie still
Would I be that monster, scare them all away
If I let the-em hear what I have to say

I can’t keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
I can’t keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
A one woman riot, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

I can’t keep quiet
For anyone
Anymore

Cuz no one knows me no one ever will
if I don’t say something, take that dry blue pill
they may see that monster, they may run away
But I have to do this, do it anyway
I can’t keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
I can’t keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
A one woman riot, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh I can’t keep quiet

Let it out Let it out
Let it out now
There’ll be someone who understands
Let it out Let it out
Let it out now
Must be someone who’ll understand
Let it out Let it out
Let it out now
There’ll be someone who understands
Let it out Let it out
Let it out now

I can’t keep quiet
