i'm tired. i'm taking it all down.

i'm tired. i'm taking it all down.

Meta. Instagram. And every corporation that thinks the internet is an unlimited supply of free material for its artificial intelligence machines:

Enough.

I have spent years creating, writing, photographing, painting, researching and sharing my work online. I have never been paid for most of it. I shared because I believed the internet was a place where people could exchange ideas, discover artists, learn from one another and build communities.

Apparently, somewhere along the way, our work became somebody else's resource.

Our photographs. Our writing. Our artwork. Our ideas. Our years of experience. All treated as material to collect, crawl, copy and potentially use in systems that make corporations money.

Where was the consent?

Where was the permission?

Where was the compensation?

And why are the people who actually create the material expected to simply accept it?

I'm tired of being told this is progress. Progress for whom? Not the independent artist who can't pay the bills. Not the photographer whose images are worth something. Not the writer whose words took years to develop. Not the small business trying to survive while enormous corporations harvest the open web.

I am not an unpaid content department for Meta.

I am not here to feed Instagram, train somebody else's machine or surrender my creative work because a corporation has decided it can.

So I'm taking my participation down.

On December 1, I'm proposing 24 hours offline as part of Who Owns the Open Web? A day to withdraw our content, our clicks, our posts and our attention.

This is not about hating technology. It's about respecting the people behind it.

I want consent. I want credit. I want compensation. I want transparency.

And I want the people making these decisions to understand something:

The internet is not made by corporations alone. It is made by millions of people who contribute their lives, their knowledge, their creativity and their work.

Without us, what exactly are you collecting?

December 1, 2026. Let's take a day back.
