what if we boycotted smartphones?

what if we boycotted smartphones?

A proposal for 2027:

What if we collectively decided to put our mental health first?

What if we called for a return to basic mobile phones and landlines?

No smartphones. No Facebook. No Instagram. No TikTok. No YouTube. No X.

Imagine a coordinated public movement to disconnect from social media and smartphones for one year.

We could start with a day, then a week, then a month. Eventually, make it a year.

For our mental health. For our children's mental health. For our privacy. For our relationships. For our communities. For the future.

Let's play out the scenarios.

What happens to mental health? What happens to loneliness? What happens to bullying? What happens to misinformation? What happens to advertising and consumerism? What happens to businesses built around our attention? What happens to politics? What happens to families and communities? What happens to children growing up without constant digital stimulation?

And what happens when millions of people simply stop participating?

Let's examine the consequences, good and bad.

Perhaps it's time for the biggest social experiment of our generation.

One year. One collective decision. A return to living our lives instead of watching everyone else's.

What would happen if we actually did it?
