maybe we should test the pilot

maybe we should test the pilot

just a little thought from north of the border…

in 2026, the president of the United States has access to military power, nuclear power and enough authority to make the entire planet pay attention.

and apparently the system still says:

“medical checkup? nah. we’ll just see how it goes.” 😂

we test pilots.
we test truck drivers.
we test people operating heavy machinery.

but the person holding the nuclear football?

elect first. panic later.

and now we're apparently discussing whether a national performing-arts centre should be renovated, renamed, or—depending on the day's mood—demolished.

perhaps the founding fathers forgot one little clause:

thou shalt occasionally check the pilot.

I'm not diagnosing anybody from a television screen. That's for doctors.

I'm just wondering whether, in 2026, we could perhaps have independent medical, cognitive and substance-use assessments for every president.

No parties.
No exceptions.
No political weapon.

Grandfather the current situation if necessary. Start with the next president.

Because this isn't really left versus right.

It's about whether the person with the nuclear football should occasionally have to prove they're fit to carry it.

we can put a man on the moon.
surely we can figure this one out.

what do you think?

“you good?” probably isn't a sufficient presidential medical examination. 😂
