Just want to remind everyone to take great care near trees and water. Both are very dangerous during strong wind.

Branches, powerlines and trees come down in big winds to please use caution.

Watch near water, waves can be much higher and stronger and you an be easily swept into the water if you are to near. Especially watch children and dogs.

I am not joking, I have lost friends and loved ones from this so please don't ignore these warnings 

Please be careful!!

In order to avoid dangerous climate change we know we must keep at least 80% of known fossil fuel reserves in the ground. We must completely decarbonise our economy before 2050. Keeping these fuels in the ground is our movement’s red line. A minimal necessity for a just and livable planet.

We know that even if a Paris agreement sends a clear signal that the world is turning away from fossil fuels, we need to show that people are ready to take matters into their own hands. In fact we already are with campaigns like the successful struggle against the Keystone XL pipeline. We are showing our commitment to taking bold action to turn off the fossil fuel industry.

Special weather statement in effect for:

• Metro Vancouver

Arctic air and possible difficult travel conditions by early Tuesday.
The first Arctic outbreak of the season will bring Arctic air and possible difficult travel conditions to the South Coast of British Columbia late Monday night and early Tuesday. However, Whistler will likely receive at least 15 cm of snow tonight through Monday before the Arctic air arrives. Snowfall warnings may be required here.

The Arctic air will arrive from the east, spilling out the coastal inlets and valleys first, spreading west toward Vancouver Island on Tuesday. As the leading edge of the coldest air of the season arrives, bursts of snowflurries may rapidly reduce visibility. Local snowfalls of a few centimetres are possible as the Arctic air arrives.  

Windchill equivalent temperatures between -10 and -15c are likely in areas exposed to outflow winds for Tuesday night.

After the Arctic arrival, the South Coast will settle into an extended period (4-6 days) of chilly but otherwise weather-less winter days.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.

PSA- Be Harrison Aware- Respect All Water!

Water- you have to respect it. So many people do not understand how fast situations change.

Sadly it's true, it is only when a friend or loved one loses their life do you realize how dangerous water can be. RESPECT IT!

Be informed and be aware, not just of Harrison but of all water, lakes, rivers and oceans. It is powerful, mix it with wind or cold and how it affects you is radical.

RIP Gary and Daniel and to all their family and friend I send my greatest condolences and I am sad you had to make this video but it is very good of you to warn and remind everyone to not take their safety or anyone elses for granted. Thank you for doing that so I can share it with my loved ones and hopefully protect them and their friends.

Gary Duong (25) and Daniel Reid (23) were both very strong swimmers. On one of the hottest days in 2015, they died in the cold waters of Harrison Lake, where they were swimming.

They were unaware of its dangerously cold temperatures, strong currents, and the unpredictable sudden winds which can turn a flat surface of water into a small craft warning in a matter of seconds.

 Visitors to this lake must become aware of these risks. Gary and Daniel can't speak now so we are speaking for them in hopes that future deaths will be prevented on this very beautiful but deadly body of water.

OMG what an incredible skier and video!!! How awesome!! I'm missing Nelson so bad after seeing this.



Angel and I definitely have to get back for a winter sometime.  She adores the snow. Me, well sometimes not so much but I have a lot of GREAT memories from Nelson.

We had a ton of fun playing in the snow and going for walks looking for icicles and building snow forts.

Not sure you guys know but we lived in Nelson 2x, once for 6 months when Angel was a baby. That's right I had a little baby honeymoon with her there. Just me and her. It was really special. And then again for 15 months when she was 4 and 5.

It wasn't always good times, as it was during this time my mom passed away. Looking back though I think it was the best place to be to grieve. Shoveling tons of snow helped burn off tons of negative energy and sadness.

Long long long walks up that hill from the mall to Rosemont, pushing the buggy with a kid and packed full of groceries, made me super strong and fit and helped me deal with all the nasty things in life that was being thrown at me during that time.

We were blessed with 2 lovely Christmases. People were so kind and generous with us. Definitely felt loved. I sure miss those winter forest walks.

Huge contrast in weather to right now Nelson to Zipolite, but the spirit is very similar in many ways ;) , seeing this video flooded my mind and eyes with memories. Amazing video. Sooooo Cooooooooooooooooooooool! Really loved it

Loved the sparks flying off the skiis. I'll show Angel when she wakes up.

Yep, definitely have to get back someday soon.

Miss you Nelson. Hey Rossland too! and Castlegar... I've lived and visited both as well.

Happy Victoria Day! Well it's pouring :(  The pool opened this weekend and it was sunny and beautiful although there was a slightly chilly wind, hey we were loving it. But then the clouds rolled in and it got windy and started pouring and it's still pouring. What to do?

Paint...that's what I will do in a bit. Just have to go get some canvas...and we have to venture out into the wet cold day, but it will be worth it :)

Go for a walk...in the rain. Sometimes it's fun to go out and get all wet. Really enjoy the rain, especially if you can walk in the forest or at the beach. The air does smell lovely when it's pouring and Mother Nature is cleaning everything...including the air.

Clean- Yuck...forget that! It's a holiday ;)

Visit with friends, that's always nice. Try to get a group of friends together and go out for lunch.

Make something...on the computer or with your hands. Work on that photo album or video or what ever it is you never seem to get to...today is the day.

Snuggle up and watch a movie. Even better if you have someone to snuggle with!

Go out for HOT CHOCOLATE! After a long walk in the wet wet rain go out for some delicious hot chocolate...or make it a home, watch a movie ...don't forget the marshmellows.

Take a long hot bath. After your lovely walk in the pouring rain, take a lovely long soak in the tub.

Well that a few suggestions. It's Victoria Day and it's raining, make the best of it.

In the city, you can't ignore the homeless because they are everywhere. Someone recently said that in the 70's there wasn't homelessness like this? I don't know, but homelessness is a VERY SERIOUS issue and it's all around us. Poverty is all around us. People need to get the government to help change this. Raising the welfare rates and the minimum wage would help this. This is a CRISIS!

Something has got to give. People will only be held down for so long. Like Marie Antoinette you can not say "Let them eat cake!" 

Politicians, Corporations and Banks need to be held accountable. To amass fortunes or aid others to do this when there is such obvious need and such obvious injustice.

These are crimes against humanity to treat people this way and allow these things to happen.

Let's all do our part to Raise Awareness and Raise the Welfare Rates and help stop homelessness and child poverty here in BC.

It's been a tough year, tough for too many people. The world really is messed up lately and we see and hear more everyday. Especially with Social Media...we can help get an earful.

It's been a tough year for us. I was just thinking how glad I'm going to be to say good bye to 2011. While nice things did happen, we really struggled this year, harder that so many others in the past.

We dealt with so many issues. We had bedbugs. HOW ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! what a nightmare. They are gone now but there was endless sleepless nights of paranoia and exhaustion from fighting them and the fear that we would have to be sprayed with some terrible toxic chemical. We did it with steam and essential oils but it was hell all the same.

I got sick 2x with bad sinus and lymph gland infections that made me have earaches where I couldn't move my head, let alone stand up.

I couldn't get my Online Social Media Workshops off the ground because of these...and then I just burned out when I saw how flooded the market is with people learning Social Media.

We lost 2 loved ones in our extended family.

Anyways, this year pretty much sucked but I MUST count my blessings that yes, I had a roof over my head, and enough money to pay the bills but the very little for groceries- usually less than $200 a month...which makes it really hard and you have to be pretty creative.

That said some people have been super generous with their time and support and other things for us. So I am grateful, I'm just ready to say goodbye 2011.

Anyways, yesterday I made my way to the Christmas Bureau at 205 Victoria st, Vancouver, where I had to stand over an hour in the freezing cold. Why is that? 

Obviously people down on their luck are here, and then they are forced to stand outside in the cold for an hour. That's cruel isn't it. 

I almost left, but I wasn't there so much for the toys, I was there for the $50 gift certificate for groceries. Groceries have gone up so much...I would say almost double or at least a 1/3. (so if I had to stand there for an hour in the freezing cold to earn my $50 I was doing it)

When I spend $60 on groceries these days, I ask myself, "That's all!" and it was $60.

Anyways, I will tell you something else, it's slim pickings at the Christmas Bureau. Nothing for parents, and just a few gifts for the kid. Thank God we have family that will pick up the slack there. I really feel sorry for the kids that don't.

What I wanted to say was though, sure would be nice if they could set it up somewhere so the people could wait inside. I heard if you live in Burnaby, you get to go in Metrotown. So what gives?

At the very least can they set up a propane heater to keep the people warm...Could somebody donate that??  

Well I'm going to end this post, they are grinding the outside cement off my building...for 3 months now, ...I'M GOING CRAZY!!

I'm praying and projecting that next year will be the best ever.
I'll post my projections later. Until then I pray we all have a better next year, especially those of us that need it most.

So I have to tell you about the funny story that happened today. We are at the beach (in Vancouver- West Coast of Canada) and my friend turns to me and says "What do you think that is in the water?" " I don't know but it looks like a coconut. ...but it must be a ball. " "Yah, probably a ball!" my friend says.

So we sit and relax and in a bit decide to collect the kid and leave, as we get closer water, we see, it is a coconut!! We tell my daughter, she sees and she wants it. Just then this dog sees and he wants it.

It's a big golden lab and he goes for it, but it's huge and he can't get his mouth around it. I get worried as it's going out farther and farther and I'm afraid he'll get too cold and to far out and drown...so I mention this to Angel ...loud enough to the owner and we try calling him in. No good, he keeps going for it...the coconut keeps turning and going out, a few times he manages to get it back ,but then the darn thing turns again.

Eventually we coax the dog in. We are all calling, the owner, my child and me,"Good boy, Good boy!!" but just as the owner turns her back he goes for it again!!  I wish I would have had my camera.

Again he's trying and trying, and I am thinking "he'll never get it, I hope nothing bad doesn't happen" I don't know why I wasn't being more positive.

Anyways, again we coax him in, because the coconut is going way far out and my daughter is getting a little upset because we may never get the coconut. So after this time when we coax the dog in I say "Let's just sit down, the waves will wash it in, we just have to be patience!"

So we do, but the dog looks over at us, and another dog goes for it, but then changes it's mind, that's when the big lab goes again. And we are like "Oh No!!"

But Guess What? He got it!! YAYYYYY! We all shout! Hurray! What a good dog!!

So then he's about to eat it, ...well chew it apart and we ask the owner if we can take it. She says "Of Course!"

I felt a little bad because he was such a GOOD DOG to get it, but it made my girl soooo happy! All the way home she said "It was the best day ever!"

It set our imaginations in motion...where did it come from? Hmmmm! Hawaii? Mexico? South Pacific? We all had ideas...dreams. Where do you think it came from? It still had it's stem...

Now we have a friend for Harry, my girl says! Remember Harry...we found him in Cancun \Mexico and he travelled with us from there to Merida, Palenque, San Cristobal Las Casas, Zipolite, Acapulco, Zihuatanejo, to Puerto Vallarta and finally Bucerias!!

Gorgeous Day but Summer is nearly Over

Yay! Thank God for another Gorgeous day! We had the last night of the fireworks and well now it feels like summer is almost over. It's just that all thru winter we look forward to the following:

Cherry Blossums
Children's Folk Festival, 
The pool Opening
My child's birthday & party 
Eating lots of berries(raspberries, strawberries, blueberries) and black bing cherries that are in season
Enjoying all the beautiful flowers and lavender
The Fireworks
The PNE

Once we do PNE well then that's it, summer is over. Whhhhhhhhhhhha!! 
and this year we have had such a crappy spring and summer with so many gray days, that it really feels like we didn't have much of a summer. Thankfully today is beautiful, and I hope it continues, because it's hard to get thru a dull, grey, cold, wet winter,...when you haven't had enough sunshine in the spring and summer.
