⚖️ Dirty Money in B.C. – Still No Justice? (Part 5)
By Tina Winterlik aka Zipolita
After four deep dives into the Cullen Commission's findings — from casinos to condos, cars to corruption — we arrive at the big question:
What’s actually changed?
The Cullen Commission made 101 recommendations. Some steps have been taken — like more transparency around real estate ownership and talk of a beneficial ownership registry. But here's the truth:
🚨 Still No Criminal Charges
Despite billions laundered, **no one has been held criminally accountable** as a result of the Cullen Commission. Not one major player has gone to jail. No casino execs. No real estate moguls. No government officials.
🏗️ Reforms Are Slow, Resistance Is Real
- Real estate and finance lobbies resist tighter rules
- Enforcement agencies are underfunded and understaffed
- The public has moved on — but we can’t afford to
📣 So What Can We Do?
- Demand accountability from elected officials
- Support investigative journalism and independent reporting
- Push for real financial crime enforcement and transparency
- Share the truth — don’t let this be forgotten
💭 Reflective Questions:
- How do we ensure the powerful are held to the same standard as the rest of us?
- What would justice look like for British Columbians harmed by dirty money?
This series ends here — but the fight for truth, transparency, and justice continues. Let’s shake the tree together. 🌲💥
