As suicides in Northern Indigenous communities
continue to mount, Justin Trudeau- a man who appointed himself the
"Minister of Youth"- continues to the ignore the youth of Attawapiskat
and other territories. Trudeau was elected on a promise of starting a
new relationship with First Nations and its time to call him on his hypocrisy. We are using the hashtag #TruDontShow
We are calling
for power in numbers and a diversity of tactis using courage,
creativity, and compassion. It is still undecided how much longer
#GroundZeroINAC will go on for. We are on full lock down inside so we
need folks outside to turn up the heat with what ever it takes.

In December 2015, the world's adults will gather in Paris to stop the climate change. Unfortunately, the pledges they are making aren’t enough to halt the increase in Earth's temperature.
Therefore, children from all over the world are going to Södertälje, to have their own climate conference, and put pressure on the world's adults.
During the Children's Climate Conference, the children will discuss the climate issue and create an appeal to the leaders in Paris.
– It is childishly simple. We only have one planet, and one chance to save the world.

On my blog I was mentioning if you want to see the "true" Polynesian Dancing then the Cook Islands are where you got to go. I didn't have a video camera back then so I really couldn't show people, but now here...here they have shared and you can all see how fantastic they are.
I would love to take my girl here for 6 months and learn how to dance and to drum like they do, it's so beautiful!

http://www.IBelieveShesAmazing.comKim MacGregor organized this flash mob of 200 dancers to launch the "feel good" movement, "I Believe She's Amazing" in honor of her friend Erika Heller who passed away May 28th, 2009 at 31 yrs. old...this is her living legacy.
The amazing choreographers and dancers pulled this together in just one-6 hr rehearsal the day before the shoot.
(The song is I Believe by Yolanda Adams, from the soundtrack to the movie Honey starring Jessica Alba.)

I love the hoops and so does my little girl. I need to get some hoops and practice a LOT more, it's such great exercise and with great music it's even more FUN!!
This is a performance I did for Hoop Convergence 2010 which highlights the fusion with Native Hoop Dance I have been working on. It was a performance like no other, as the audience was made up of hoopers, which was exciting and unnerving all in the same moment. It was great however to really show what I’m working on to people as into this art as I am. Big thanks to Terrance Littletent for all of his inspiration and teachings and to Julia Hartsell, for bringing the international community together.

Among the goals of the Dance Day are to increase the awareness of the importance of dance among the general public, as well as to persuade governments all over the world to provide a proper place for dance in all systems of education, from primary to higher.
Free daytime events 9.30amWorking Class at Scotiabank Dance Centre (677 Davie Street): the Training Society of Vancouver invites the public to watch a professional contemporary dance class, followed at 11.30am by an informal studio showing of work in development by local dancers. Coffee, muffins and talkback provided.
12-1pm Downtown pedestrians will be treated to a series of 'swing bombs' with surprise appearances by swing champions Tessa Cunningham and Myles Munroe.
1-2pm Lunchtime performance in the main atrium of the Vancouver Public Library (350 West Georgia Street) featuring Karen Flamenco, Mandala Arts and Culture classical East Indian dance, and members of the Urban Tap Squad.
5.30pm Contemporary ballet company the plastic orchid factory hosts a studio showing of excerpts from Dance Centre Artist-in-Residence James Gnam's new work_post at Scotiabank Dance Centre, followed by a talkback with special guests. The lobby will also host an exhibit of images taken by renowned photographer David Cooper of_post, which is set to premiere in May.
Evening performance 8pm The rapidly evolving relationship between people, technology and online culture inspires taking your experience for mine, an adventurous ensemble work created by Sara Coffin, one of BC's most exciting emerging choreographic voices.
Her new work will investigate how the digital traces we leave behind can alter our concept of self. With so much of our lives on display through social media and governed by digital devices and screens, is dialing into the digital network altering our ability to attune?
Performed by dancersJulia Carr, Amanda Sheather, Meghan Goodman and Jacinte Armstrong, the piece will feature an original score by Coffin's longtime collaborator Phil Thomson, multimedia design by Andrew Hawryshkewich, and lighting design by Kimberly Plough. taking your experience for mine is presented through The Dance Centre'sthird Iris Garland Emerging Choreographer Award, which is awarded every two years to a young choreographer who shows exceptional promise.

For International Dance Day 2011, NBS is changing everything! Instead of one routine on one performance day, we’re doing two special dance routines, on two separate dates! On International Dance Day itself, April 29, a routine for dancers 16+ will be performed during the day at a Toronto location. On a date in early May (exact details TBC), a routine for dancers 8-16 will be performed in a different Toronto location!
