The Kanata Festival is a 13 day festival running from June 19-July 1st. It is a cultural festival featuring food, music, art, workshops, and performances. It takes place on the traditional unceded territory of the Coast Salish people of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, Squamish nations, in Larwill Park, bounded by Cambie & Beatty streets and Georgia and Dunsmuir streets in downtown Vancouver, BC. While taking place in BC, the festival will feature aspects of Indigenous culture from across Canada

What Happened to Freedom of the Press?

In today's bizarre world...WHAT HAPPENED TO FREEDOM OF THE PRESS?

Watch the above video from Standing Rock and then watch this one below from Clayoquot Sound Canada. Very similar tactics. The Corporations have more Rights and Freedoms than actual citizens. They end up having the police turn on the protectors when it should be the corporations that the police should be arresting for crimes against nature and humanity. Where is UNITED NATIONS in this? Well last night was a little milestone for me.

finally hit 190,000 views and this is quite a jump. I have been working really hard and posted 327 posts last year, this has had a big impact on my rise in views and also I have been tweeting a lot more.

If you noticed I never have ads- I can't help the ones on the Youtube videos but I want you to know I don't have any of the adsense or anything like that. I post what I want, when and where.

So when you read my posts you can relax and not have crap flashing in your face all the time. I hate that. So please enjoy my adfree blog. Remember I do not get paid for my blogging or any of the social media I do. For some I barter but I have no regular gig from it or collect from ads.

I tried the Patreon and Tip Jar and others but they don't seem to work for me, yet...never give up right. And that is the thing about blogging, I blog because I want to share my opinions or things that I think are important with you.

I share things that I believe you will not see on TV and I hope to enlighten you about things going on that you SHOULD know about. 

I care about you, and me, and my family, most of all I care about my kid and I want her to have a future, a good future and so blogging is my little way of "Saving the World!!"

Well here's my stats. HURRAY!! I'm averaging about 10,000 views the last few months so all my hard work is finally paying off.

Wow, listen to this great talk by Clay Shirky and how information overload has been around since the 1500's but it's how the filters work that mess us up.

Then check out the video below because there's some interesting info shared about the education system and how the information systems are colliding in a serious way and someone needs to figure out how to solve it.

Let's Grow a Food Forest like Seattle

When I was a little girl, my mom and dad had a little hobby farm out in Surrey. My dad was raised on a farm and my mom's mom (my grandma) had an awesome green thumb so between the two they made an wonderful team.

We had rabbits, chickens, ducks, a big pig that had piglets, there was a garden with vegetables and there fruit trees of cherry, plum, peach and apple...maybe more I was little and don't remember it all.

Now we all know about the GMO's and Monsanto and the cost of food is outrageous and trying to buy organic is expensive...

But we live in a big city and there is lots of park land and schoolyards. It's time to convert some of that space and grow gardens and a food forest.

Seattle just came up with this idea and they are going to try...so why don't we. I have seen lots of community gardens, but everyone has their own little plot and no one is allowed to touch it.  If we just think on a higher level, sort of like when the blackberries are in season...there's plenty for everyone.

My dream is that we start Edible Schoolyards and each day kids go into the garden or food forest and work, gather, harvest, cook, store food so that we all have this knowledge, that we all share and we all have enough healthy food to eat....the way God intended.

Please share this widely, talk to your school, teachers, principal, schoolboard, the mayor, Vancouver Parks board, who can we get on board to start making this all a reality.


Seattle's Food Forest

 I have seen some beautiful community gardens but we need something on a much larger scale that can really be shared with the community.

By the way, while I have your attention, if they would just raise the minumum wage to $15 a hour, a single mom with a child could actually work part-time, while the child is in school- if such hours actually existed and then they would not have to take assistance. 

Employers need to think about how they can accommodate women more. It takes a village to raise a child and in our present culture of  every person for themself, well it is obvious it is not working. 

Using a school as a babysitter is not my idea of a how to educate a child either, especially in our present predicament with the teachers and students caught up in funding shortages and other issues.

 Creating Edible Schoolyards and focusing on urban gardens, teaching children and families how to raise their own food, is a task we need to put at highest priority. Roof top gardens and greening the urban landscape is a must.

Small Miracles have Huge Impact!!

It's a GREAT DAY! Today something SPECIAL AND WONDERFUL happened. One of Angel's teachers brought us a Christmas hamper! Yay!!! Full of lots of wonderful yummy healthy treats. HOW AWESOME! and two gifts.

That was so sweet and so appreciated as we REALLY NEEDED IT!  I'm feeling much happier today. I feel loved and the outlook on life is much brighter today.

Then I read this SUPER WONDERFUL STORY about people paying off lay away plans at Kmart. http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/1103024 You just have to read this, it had me balling like a baby. It revives your faith in mankind when people do beautiful things like this. Like it says in the story, sometimes $50 doesn't seem like much but it can be a million when given to the right person at the right time.

I hope lots of people get the help they need and we can all Share this Wonderful Christmas Joy. Right now my girl is putting together a gingerbread house...something we might not have gotten considering things...it's these little things that bring so much joy but when cash is short...it's a choice that or milk...
