🩸 Why Is No One Talking About Senator John Hoffman?
The Silence Is Deafening
By Tina Winterlik aka Zipolita
While the world is (rightfully) mourning the loss of Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark — two lives stolen in a targeted political assassination — another name is barely being mentioned.
Senator John Hoffman was shot in his own home just hours earlier, in what now appears to be part of a coordinated attack on Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota.
He is still alive — barely.
He is in hospital. Fighting for his life.
And yet… almost no one is talking about it.
🧠 Why the Silence?
Let’s ask the uncomfortable question:
Why is no one saying his name?
- Is it because he didn’t die?
- Is it because he isn’t as well-known as Melissa Hortman?
- Is it because people are overwhelmed… or numb?
Or is it something more dangerous?
Are we already normalizing political violence?
🏛️ Who Is John Hoffman?
Senator Hoffman has served Minnesota since 2013.
He fought for:
- Disability rights — he was one of the few who truly listened to people with disabilities and their families
- Mental health funding and special education
- Clean energy and health care access
He represented people who are too often ignored.
And now, he’s being ignored too — in the most horrifying way.
🚨 This Was Not Random
The man who attacked Senator Hoffman was wearing police-style body armor.
He pretended to be law enforcement.
He showed up in the middle of the night and opened fire — seriously injuring Senator Hoffman and another person, believed to be his wife, Yvette.
Then he drove 8 miles and murdered Melissa Hortman and her husband.
This was political terrorism.
Premeditated. Coordinated. Executed.
Why isn’t the media connecting the dots?
Why aren’t people shouting his name in the streets?
Where is the outrage?
🕯️ Don’t Let Them Erase Him
We can't afford to be quiet just because he survived.
Senator John Hoffman is a victim of attempted political assassination.
He matters. His voice matters. His survival matters.
And if we don’t speak up, who will?
📢 From Canada, We’re Watching
To the American people:
We see what’s happening.
And we ask again:
What have you allowed to grow in your soil?
This hate, this silence, this dangerous acceptance?
And to Canadians:
Don’t look away.
Don’t think we are immune.
This could be you. Me. Your family. Your neighbour.
We must speak out before hate makes us forget what humanity looks like.
Say His Name

🗣️ Survivor.
