THUMB'S UP for the Vancouver Childrens Festival 2011

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Well I wasn't sure what to expect, we had been to the Vancouver International Children's Festival 6 or 7x before and well we really liked it the way it was, but we are giving it the Big Thumbs Up.

We had a GREAT TIME. Check out the videos below. I did my best, I would have like to spent more time perfecting them but I wanted to share them today so I hope you'll give me a little grace.

We really had so much fun. We were really lucky we had good weather for most of it, it just rained for a little while and we happened to be in a tent making fairy clothes, and then we went and got a donut and coffee in the market.

Truthfully I think this is a better concept now. It will be good for the market, and the $5 wrist band was totally in our budget, and we really got our money's worth.

Still by the time we bought donuts and a cool little "Loud Mouth " whistle it was close to $18 but not bad for such a FABULOUS DAY.

DON'T MISS OUT. Definitely go down to the Children's Festival. Remember it's only 9:30 to 2:30 so be sure to go early and take advantage of the different activities.

We hit the facepainting first, and there was quite a line up but it went quite fast and the girls did a AWESOME job.

Children Festival Starts Tomorrow

Children's Festival Starts tomorrow.
International Children's Festival
http://www.childrensfestival.ca/index.php

Oh we have a had some awesome times at the Children's Festival, but we've always found it expensive. It used to be $10 for each of us and then a popcorn/ cotton candy or a some type of treat and it was an easy $30.

We've never been to any shows. A friend was telling me that when it first started it was so different, all open and was so much cheaper. I don't know about this but I did hear that Raffi pulled out when the corporations started to back it, I don't know if that's true, it's just what I heard.

What I do know is they moved it this year. To Granville Market- I was really upset when I heard this, and well from the sounds of it, it's definitely not going to be the same.

Word is that if it doesn't do well, that's it, it's over, because the funding has be cut way back and they have a deficit, so that really sucks.

Will we have fun? I don't know, but we will find out and at $5 for each of us, that's alot easier to swallow. So we will let you all know how it goes.  Check out the website for more info.

About Melanoma in Canada
Every year, thousands of Canadians are diagnosed with Melanoma, with the incidence of the disease increasing faster than that of any other cancer. One in 74 men and 1 in 90 women are expected to develop melanoma during their lifetime; 1 in 284 men and 1 in 486 women will die of it. It is the most dangerous type of skin cancer, causing 75% of deaths associated with skin cancer.

Currently in Canada, there is no treatment proven to extend the lives of people diagnosed with metastatic (advanced) melanoma, despite the rising incidence of the disease.

About the Save Your Skin Foundation
The Save Your Skin Foundation was created by family, friends, and colleagues of Founder Kathy Barnard, who is currently battling melanoma.

Save Your Skin is a Canadian based not-for-profit Foundation. Through events and other initiatives, the Foundation focuses on raising funds for education and awareness, providing emotional and financial support to those dealing with skin cancer, and on supporting the ongoing research and treatment of skin cancer

10,000 Page Views Since September

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

So this is very COOL. Today sometime my blog will hit 10,000 pageviews. WOW. This is really something for me, since I only really started faithfully blogging on it since September 2010. I have had this blog a long time but at one point deleted a bunch of stuff and just started to find my voice.

It took a bit, but now I know what I like to blog about I LOVE IT. I love sharing all the great videos, just like that funny one the other day Gotta Share  that's how I feel and guess so do alot of other people.

I remember I had my Adventures of Angel blog, I had it like 4 years and only had about 600 views. So this is a BIG DEAL to me, because my Adventurez in Mexico Blog http://adventurezinmexico.blogspot.com is about to hit 10,000 pageviews too. But probably tomorrow or next day as it needs more than this blog Tina Winterlik

Overview of pageviews
Audience Stats

Here are my stats of Adventurez in Mexico

AdventureZ in Mexico Audience Stats

AdventureZ in Mexico Overview

So what's next.  Well people are always telling me "Get Some Advertising on there" and I know I should but I don't want just anyone, I want something GREEN, and they really have to align with my way of thinking. That's why I came up with the Billboard Blogpost idea http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com/p/introducing-billboard-blogpost.html   http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com/2011/04/billboard-blogposts-real-estate-on-web.html  And I ENCOURAGE you to take advantage of my offer.

It's very reasonable, basically it's  one time fee  and here is what you recieve.

Billboard Blogpost on Tina Winterlik

Package #1 Photography, Video, Copy, Links (Local Clients) $250 Cdn

Package #2 Copy & Paste Relevant Info from your Blog, Website or Facebook Page
(Local and International Clients) $100

Package #3 Need a Social Media Manager - Let's Talk!

Pay by Paypal

Anyways think about it,  you can see what other people said Testimonials .

So What's Next! I created a portal yesterday for my Zipolita blog http://zipolita.blogspot.com  to have a place for everyone to easily find my blogs, Facebook pages, Twitter & Linked in links.

I thinking that I would like to try Blogtv and I'm going to see if I can put the interface in there, I think that might be really FUN! I'm  a little nervous, but I think I could meet some SUPER cool people that way and we could talk about GREEN stuff.

What else...well I hope to start painting, my gosh it's been so cold, and yesterday it POURED all day, it was so grey. It was a great day to stay inside and fix my blogs. Anyways I hope we will get some nice weather here and I can start painting more.

And maybe start making some beach glass jewelry. You know before I had Angel I had a huge beach glass collection and I would sit for hours making jewelry. When you have a kid, sometimes part of your life gets put on hold for a bit. For me it was painting and my jewelry, but she's 8 almost 9 now and we are starting to do things together. She's a fabulous storyteller, so we will be working on that more too.

My other goals are to finish unfinished projects, I need to finish my actual MOVIE for Adventurez in Mexico. It will be 2 hours and have narration and music and I hope people find it very eye opening and helpful if they want to go on a trip to Mexico and if they are thinking about taking their kids.

I still have my Social Media Workshops, so I have to work on those. Let's see I want to make 3 more 5 minute films for the Possible Futures Contest for Four Years. Go.

I have nearly 1000 Twitter followers too! I have 945 so I'm close, so I'm Super Happy with that too! https://twitter.com/#!/zipolita

Well I better get on with my day. Have a great one! Tina aka Zipolita :)

Stanley Park- Seawall & Forest Videos

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Here are some Videos that were posted on the Vancouver Park Board Youtube Channel.

The first one is really cool and shares stories about who build the Stanley Park Seawall. Do you know who James Cunningham & W.S Rawlings are. Well listen and learn. This is so cool! :) Love Videos, so educational, I love visuals. Watching old photos of the park and hearing the stories behind them is so touching.

The second & third videos are about the terrible storm in 2006 that did so much damage. I remember we had just moved to Nelson and it was so disturbing watching the news and hearing about it. It made me cry when it happened and then when everyone pitched in and helped donate so much money.

It really was AMAZING! I LOVE Stanley Park, Everyone does! It's nice to see that from the tragedy that actually some good things came from it, like a better understanding of the park and forest and ecology management. And Prospect Point was redeveloped and is supposed to be much more beautiful. I'll have to check it out.

Listen to this wonderful story about the men who built the seawall.

This 2005 video, Terri Clark of Vancouver Park Board highlights the evolutionary process that has developed the Stanley Park Seawall into the Vancouver fixture it is today.

The legacy that is Vancouver crown jewel, Stanley Park. This video clip highlights the restoration plan put into place after a bad storm destroyed much of the Vancouver landmark. Presented by local news anchor, Chris Gailus.

Tina: This is just so freaky and I started crying and chills ran thru me. A real life horror story. I send you all my prayers. Especially the child crying, I thought of my little girl and how scared she would be. What a truly terrifying experience for all of you.

Uploaded by izelsg on May 22, 2011-The video i took while at Fastrip on east 20th street. We huddled in the back of the store until the glass got sucked out , then ran into the walk in storage fridge. Sorry for the lack of visuals but the audio is pretty telling of how intense the storm was. The tornado hits at around 1:20 seconds.

Tina: Here is an Amazing Rainbow - I was so sad and full of despair watching and listening to these videos, it really feels like the end of the world some days, with all these terrible storms, earthquakes, Tsunami's, but then I just have to keep faith and believe there is hope, and this sign, a rainbow is my little bit of hope that somehow we can turn this world around. We can work together on Climate Change and turn things back.

Tina: My prayers and thoughts go out to the people of Joplin, and I so very sorry that this has happened to you. I send this angel so you may find a moment of peace.

Sending Love and Prayers to the People of the Joplin, I am so truly sorry that this has happened to you. Tina & Angel  Photo by Tina Winterlik © 2011

Tedtalks- Artfully Visualizing Our Humanity-Aaron Koblin

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Wow, this is Super Cool. Can't wait to try out some of these projects. :) Specially the Johnny Cash and the Wilderness Downtown.

Artist Aaron Koblin takes vast amounts of data -- and at times vast numbers of people -- and weaves them into stunning visualizations. From elegant lines tracing airline flights to landscapes of cell phone data, from a Johnny Cash video assembled from crowd-sourced drawings to the "Wilderness Downtown" video that customizes for the user, his works brilliantly explore how modern technology can make us more human.

I'm a big believer in Essential Oils, and I came across this video on the Prostate and thought it would be valuable to share it with all of you.

Young Living's newest essential oil supplement, Prostate Health, is uniquely formulated for men concerned with supporting the male glandular system and maintaining healthy, normal prostate function. With just two vegetable softgels per day, the body is infused with key anti-inflammatory components through pure geranium, fennel, myrtle, lavender, and peppermint essential oils, as well as powerful saw palmetto and organic pumpkin seed oil.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostate

The prostate (from Greek προστάτης - prostates, literally "one who stands before", "protector", "guardian"[1]) is a compound tubuloalveolar exocrine gland of the male reproductive system in most mammals unless they have it removed at birth.[2][3]
In 2002, female paraurethral glands, or Skene's glands, were officially renamed the female prostate by the Federative International Committee on Anatomical Terminology.[4]
The prostate differs considerably among species anatomically, chemically, and physiologically.

The function of the prostate is to store and secrete a slightly alkaline fluid, milky or white in appearance,[5] that usually constitutes 20-30% of the volume of the semen along with spermatozoa and seminal vesicle fluid. The alkalinity of semen helps neutralize the acidity of the vaginal tract, prolonging the lifespan of sperm. The alkalinization of semen is primarily accomplished through secretion from the seminal vesicles.[6] The prostatic fluid is expelled in the first ejaculate fractions, together with most of the spermatozoa. In comparison with the few spermatozoa expelled together with mainly seminal vesicular fluid, those expelled in prostatic fluid have better motility, longer survival and better protection of the genetic material (DNA).
The prostate also contains some smooth muscles that help expel semen during ejaculation. Read more here

Wow, this is so well explained.

Lee Lorenzen has more than 26 years of experience developing software and founding and funding numerous ventures and non-profit organizations. He is currently President, CEO of Altura Ventures. Lee's TEDxMonterey talk revealed focused on applying the principals of how to make rock candy to the conditions necessary to create scalable social change in the world.

This year's TEDxMonterey inspired and engaged the Monterey community with fascinating leaders, inventors, scientists, artists, community activists and global dreamers. With an all star line up of inspirational speakers the Monterey Institute of International Studies hosted the event on April 15th, 2011 and enjoyed participation from over 400 people both in person and online. The theme of this year's TEDxMonterey was Cultivating Innovation, which dazzled the audience through the themes of question, engage and transform.

This is really silly!

On Facebook

Victoria Boutenko came to the USA with her family, including children Sergei and Valya, in 1990. The Boutenko family, also know as the Raw Family, became world-renowned raw food teacher, chefs & writers. Victoria Boutenko has thousands of followers. As a result of her teachings, many raw food communities have been formed and helped throughout the world. In recent years Victoria has become most famous for her discovery of green smoothies, which has revolutionized “health food” as we know it.

What brought Victoria to the raw food lifestyle was that her whole family, relishing the abundant food in their new American home, became overweight and sick. This video is heartbreaking, gave me goosebumps! To all the people affected once again I sent out my prayers and postive energy that you'll get the help you need. For everyone traveling this long weekend be very careful out there with your smokes and fires.
