Grad Photos by Zipolita

Hey it's Spring! Hurray! So beautiful here in Vancouver with all the cherry blossoms and green leaves sprouting everywhere. Now is a great time to try on your best outfit and have a few photos taken to capture this lovely moment in time.

Especially for Mother's Day! What Mom doesn't love family photos of their beautiful children and don't forget about Grandma.

Anyways, that's what we did. My little cherub is growing up and will be off to high school before I know it. Someone gave us 2 beautiful dresses and we had been waiting for the opportunity to go out and take some lovely photos. The cherry blossoms are almost all gone now but we got some lovely photos.

And don't forget about Grad
We also wanted to see how the dresses looked, as she is having a Grade 7 Grad and we wanted to get some good photos of what the dress looks like before. This is a great thing to do. You can try out a special hairdo and see if you are comfortable. Or make sure you have good shoes. We found out one was too loose. Good thing we have time to remedy it. So a photo shoot is a little trial of the big event. Also you might not have the best weather that day or have a chance to get the photos you want...so don't miss out. Check out my offer below.

We went to the park as I like to use natural light and we  just had fun, which is how you get great shots. Then I did some photo editing and created two magazine-style photo books. Just 10 pages each but they are full page photos of Angel in her beautiful dress and to me they are like gold. They are a treasure that I will keep always. I am sure you would love one of your child or children.

So I am offering the following package currently until further notice:

Grad Photo Shoot Special $200 plus tax

1 hour Photo Shoot in outside natural setting (Local only)
Photo Editing included
Printing  and Shipping (Local only)
1 magazine-style photo book on premium paper-soft cover
(approximately 15-20 full page photos 8.5 by 11 in)
*email for further details.

Prayers for Nepal

There has been a terrible earthquake in Nepal. My prayers go out for all the people there and all the loved ones worried about them.  I pray hard for their safety and that aid can get to them quickly.

Reports coming in say now that the death toll is about 1500 but we will see as this sad day continues.

You can light a virtual candle and say a prayer here - Humanity's team set this up.

The 7.8 magnitude earthquake leveled buildings mostly in the historic section of Kathmandu, including the landmark nine-story Dharahara Tower, which was reduced to rubble with many people still inside. The tower, built in 1832, is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the city and one of the most prominent buildings destroyed by Saturday's earthquake. As many as 250 people are thought to have been inside when the quake hit, according to Al Jazeera. https://news.vice.com/article/videos-show-huge-tremors-and-utter-devastation-after-earthquake-in-nepal?utm_source=vicenewsfb

Here our some paintings I did back in 2001 before I had Angel. I have been meaning to do a few like these again but have been focusing on my oils.

Update April 14/2014:  Hundreds of litres of bunker fuel leaked from the vessel Marathassa into the water, but officials working to clean up the spill now say it may be days, or possibly weeks, before they know exactly how much leaked from the vessel.

Port Metro Vancouver says crews are working to clean up a “minor” oil spill in English Bay.
The incident was reported at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday and an emergency response team was called in to deal with the oily substance. The port is unsure what the cause of the oil spill is at this point.
Five coast guard and marine response crews worked overnight on containing the oil and keeping the marine life safe. The City of Vancouver is asking people not to touch the spill because it is bunker fuel and is toxic.

VANCOUVER - Crews are working to clean up a highly toxic oil spill believed to have leaked from a bulk carrier ship in English Bay.

Port Metro Vancouver spokesman John Parker-Jervis said early Thursday morning that crews from five West Coast Marine Response Corporation boats are trying to recover some of the heavier oil that is surrounding the ship.

A boom has been set up around the ship Marathassa, which is a bulk grain carrier that arrived from Korea, to contain the oil, though Parker-Jervis stressed that it has not been confirmed that the oil is from that ship .

Vancouver fire rescue officials, who are working with the city and the Canadian Coast Guard to clean up the spill, say about one tonne of oil has already been recovered. Spill BC is also towing a 1,000-foot boom to collect oil.

Vancouver city officials posted a boater and watercraft alert on Twitter early Thursday, saying that the spill is “bunker fuel” and that it is toxic. They are warning people not to touch the fuel.

Bunker fuel is a type of liquid fuel used on ships which is fractionally distilled from crude oil. It is extremely crude and highly polluting.

SIGN THE NO TAX ON TAMPONS PETITION

Check out this hilarious, if gross but so RIGHT ON THE MONEY video by the CANADIAN MENSTRUATORS!!

Taxing Feminine Hygiene products is WRONG and it puts women in poverty in away that men are not affected.

Of course, this isn't a female problem, this is EVERYONE'S problem, because she is your girlfriend, wife, mother, aunt, sister, friend that instead of treating you to lunch, has to buy tampons. You get the picture right.

That is money that she can put food on the table for her kids. That money is milk, when you have no cash and a jug of milk is $6 and the tampons are $6 ....it's not a nice choice to have to make.

Tampons and hygiene products should be FREE! Women should all get a little grant or something to pay for it. That would be fair in my opinion. And they can back pay all us older women. Ha!!

This won't pass unless the petition gets signed and send in. PLEASE sign  www.CanadianMenstruators.ca  and mail. Thanks.

Let the Government know we are ESSENTIAL!

If you agree that the GST charged on menstruation products is unfair let your voice be heard in the House of Commons.

Print, sign and send in the petition (no postage required) to Irene Mathyssen MP, House of Commons, Ottawa ON K1A 0A6 by April 27, 2015.
