Coming November 1–5: A 5-Part Series on BC Youth During COVID-19

๐Ÿšจ Coming November 1–5: A 5-Part Series on BC Youth During COVID-19

During the COVID-19 pandemic, countless young people in British Columbia were left to face unprecedented challenges alone. Isolation, mental health struggles, financial pressures, and systemic failures created a perfect storm that has left many traumatized — and still struggling to this day. ๐Ÿ’”

It is time to confront the reality of what happened, to acknowledge the unsung heroes who endured, and to demand change for our youth.

๐Ÿ“… What You Need to Know About the Series

From November 1–5, I will be publishing a 5-part series exposing the experiences of youth during COVID-19 in BC. Each post will dive into a specific aspect of this crisis:

  • ๐Ÿ’” Part 1: Isolation, mental health, and the struggles of youth who were left without support.
  • ๐Ÿง  Part 2: Substance use, self-harm, and the rise in mental health crises among adolescents during the pandemic.
  • ⚠️ Part 3: Overdoses, psychiatric admissions, and the real toll on youth in BC.
  • ๐Ÿšจ Part 4: Systemic abuse, unsafe treatment practices, and financial exploitation in youth mental health services.
  • ๐Ÿ” Part 5: Accountability and transparency — what must change to protect youth and prevent this from happening again.

๐Ÿ’ก Why You Should Read This Series

This series is not just about statistics — it is about real young people whose lives were deeply affected by policies, neglect, and the failures of our systems. Many were left to cope alone, without family support, often experiencing trauma that will impact them for years to come. ๐Ÿ“‰

By reading, sharing, and engaging with this series, you can help:

  • Raise awareness about the crisis youth faced during COVID-19.
  • Highlight systemic failures in BC’s mental health and youth services.
  • Encourage reforms that put safety, dignity, and support before bureaucracy.

➡️ Stay Tuned

The series will be published daily from November 1–5. Each post will reveal a new piece of the story, shining light on what our youth endured and what must change for the future. ๐Ÿงฉ

Mark your calendars, follow along, and share these stories. These young people deserve to be seen, heard, and supported — and it’s time we hold systems accountable. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿง
