Aging can be harder than people realize.

Aging can be harder than people realize.

There’s a strange attitude that if you aren’t currently in a conventional paid job, somehow you have never worked, never contributed, and have nothing of value to offer.

Dog walking, caregiving, cleaning, helping others, raising children, volunteering, creating art, supporting family and friends — apparently some kinds of work only count when someone is handing you a paycheque.

It can be heartbreaking to feel that people see you as less intelligent, less capable, or even a burden simply because your circumstances have changed.

A person’s worth does not disappear when their employment does.

We are more than our job title, our income, our age, or what we can produce for someone else.

People deserve dignity throughout their whole lives. ❤️
