It sounds to me that so much work was done and is being done to help the survivors of the Residential schools and their families and children, but only time can heal many of these wounds.
Unfortunately, I am afraid that the people not directly affected will turn away. Everyone is so occupied with their own lives, work and climate issues ....so many issues....WILL CANADIANS LISTEN AND LEARN? I pray they will. I have fears that the info will be stored and forgotten.
Like many of my dear things that are in storage, I want to get them and have them and enjoy them but I don't have the space or the money. With all this delicate personally deeply emotional and touching, gut wrenching material I pray it's well taken care of, and what is needed it taken and used and practiced so that atrocities like this never happen again.
I send love and light to everyone that worked on the project, all the survivors and their families. I am so sorry this happened to you. I am so angry that people could do such sick horrible things to children and families.
All those poor mothers and father who lost their children. I would die!! What would you do?
How would you feel if this happened to you?
This is the best question...because what would you do, knowing your child is imprisoned somewhere, learning things that you see as no value...and truthfully they weren't because as we all see, the invaders basically brought and developed skills to wipe out all the humans on the earth if we are not careful and make changes.
For what ever dark ignorant reasons that it happened, WE AS CANADIANS must teach our children about this very dark time in history, teach our children this is the real Canada and teach our children empathy, so that this never ever happens again and also so that they can continue to help other and themselves as it will be many many generations before healing can happen in any significant way.
And thus it is so very very important that this info is protected and organized and cared for in the manner it deserves. I pray that in the future some crazy maniac, like we just had as a PM, doesn't decide it's taking up to much space and delete....like the libraries he was destroying.
Terabytes of testimony: Digital database of residential school stories opens to the public

"You can't help but be moved when you hear elders cry. You can't help but be moved when you see parents and children try to fight their way through healing and reconciliation and coming to terms with some of the stuff that happened right inside their family."
"I do believe that the country that we think we have or that we've been told we have — at least via the text books and the general Canadian narrative — really isn't the country that has actually existed," he said, calling the collection 'sobering.'

"Teach Your Children"
You, who are on the road must have a code that you can live by.
And so become yourself because the past is just a good bye.
Teach your children well, their father's hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams, the one they fix, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.
And you, of the tender years can't know the fears that your elders grew by,
And so please help them with your youth, they seek the truth before they can die.
Teach your parents well, their children's hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams, the one they fix,the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.
And so become yourself because the past is just a good bye.
Teach your children well, their father's hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams, the one they fix, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.
