π§️π When the Sky Opens Up: Vancouver’s Atmospheric River Rolls In ππ§️
By Tina Winterlik aka Zipolita
Rain has a personality here in Vancouver. A bold one. It shows up uninvited, dripping all over the place, and stays longer than the guest who “just popped by.” This week, we welcome a full-on Atmospheric River… a sky-river pouring straight from the Pacific like someone tilted the ocean a little too far π π.
π¦ What’s Happening Up There?
A massive band of moisture is racing thousands of kilometres toward us. Once it smashes into our mountains, boom… the sky gets leaky.
Rain.
More rain.
Even more rain.
Wet socks for days π§¦π
This isn’t just drizzle. This is the kind of rain that makes umbrellas question their life purpose ☂️π€―

Still…
⚠️ Not everyone has a warm place to wait out a storm
⚠️ Flooding exposes where infrastructure falls short
⚠️ Workers and families feel every delay and detour
Storms tell the truth.
Who is protected… and who is left out in the cold?

π¨ Storm Art & Rainy Reflections
I’ll have πΈ my camera ready.
The world gets shiny when it rains.
Puddles become portals to upside-down cities.
Streetlights glow like tiny moons. π
Leaves swirl like dancers practicing chaos choreography ππ
Even the hard moments glisten.
A storm can flood our streets…
and sometimes
flood our hearts with compassion too ππ§️
π Reflective Question
How does extreme weather reveal which parts of our community are protected… and which are left out in the cold? ππ
π Share your rainy photos with me — let’s show the beauty, the courage, and the truth of these sky-rivers together π§️✨
