Dia de Los Muertos-Stanley Park Ghost Train

We had a wonderful time tonight. I was really so thrilled to be there, it really felt like I was back in Mexico for a bit. As I was leaving I lit a candle.

I thought I was lighting for my mom. Sadly though, as I was making the video tonight I found out that Angel's adopted Mexican Abuelita had passed on. We are very sad. May she rest in peace.

Sending out love and light and prayers for all our loved ones that have passed.
Take good care, hugs your loved ones and keep them close.

Inside the Museum of Anthropology Summer 2016

We had the best day yesterday! First I want to say "Thank you"
Thank you to the Musqueam People- whose land the Museum of Anthropology is on, for the sharing with us and allowing us explore the museum and land.

Thank You to all the people who helped us have a great day. Thanks to the folks Tanya and Ted at NEC for allowing us to go on the Free tour at the Museum of Anthropology. Thanks to NEC for the lunch, my daughter was really grateful and happy. Food- she's a teenager. :D

Thank you to Pam for giving the tour. It was very informative and I really appreciate how much work goes into creating - curating something of this magnitude. It was truly beautiful and amazing.

It was very awe inspiring. I love that we can go online and research things more. I wish I had before I came. I will have to come again soon. It had been many many, possibly 20 years since my last visit. I won't let that happen again.

We loved the outside too. And so be sure to see the other post. I will be working on it after I post this one.

Chilkat blanket

"Chilkat blankets were originally made by northern Tlingit people, and traded down the coast to be worn on ceremonial occasions by Haida, Tsimshian and Kwakwaka'wakw chiefs.

Chilkat robes were symbols of wealth: to own them endowed a chief with great prestige. Even greater prestige resulted from giving them away in potlatch.

If there was no chief attending of high enough rank to receive it, the blanket might be cut into strips and distributed to a number of persons of prestige. This sea monster mask is called ’Yágis from the Under Sea Kingdom. I created ’Yágis for – One Mind, One Heart, an installation at the Museum of Anthropology to show my support in opposing the Enbridge Pipeline Project. He hunts down oil tankers and protects our territories and coast.

Pink Salmon Festival -Vanier Park-Vancouver

We had a great time at the Pink Salmon Festival. Pink Flying Fish, Facepainting, Nylon Zoo, and lots of Salmon to eat if you wanted to stand in the long line up. If I hadn't been with a kid, I probably would have. Lots of people did. Thanks to everyone who was there we had a wonderful day! :)

Join us for the celebration of the return of the pinks!

With returns of 17.5 million pink salmon projected to return to the Fraser River in August, the second biennial Pink Salmon Festival will serve up delicious complimentary pink salmon to the public and promote pink salmon as a sustainable seafood choice. Members of the public will be treated to barbecued salmon samplings donated by Canfisco and prepared by premier Vancouver chefs including C Restaurant executive chef Robert Clark. The event will also have live music by Vancouver bluegrass band "Redgrass", informative demonstrations and activities for kids.

The festival is being underwritten by corporate sponsor Gold Seal – Canfisco, who has donated 3,500 pounds of pink salmon. Additional sponsors include Port Metro Vancouver, HSBC, Vancouver Courier and Rebel Communications.

Great Time at the Kits Kite Festival

Once again we had a fabulous time at the Kitsilano Kite Festival at Vanier Park. When we arrived we donated and got a balloon and asked about the Teddy Bear Drop but that tent didn't really know anything
about it.

When we did asked about their bears, they were $20 for a worthy cause, but we couldn't afford that right now.

We looked for Penny - the lady that does the Really Fun Skits with the Kids but she wasn't there, Angel was really disappointed and so was I but I fixed it by going back to the first tent and we got a Grab Bag for $2, that was a really good deal and brightened everything up.

Then as we were leaving, we walked past a girl that had just caught a bear, and Angel calls "Nice Bear!" and the girl then explained it's free and we just have to get a tix and wait in line. Yayyyyyyyyy! So we did and Angel got her little bear and she was thrilled.

It was a really GREAT day!!

**Note :Whoops, just realized I need to change the title on this, it was longer original and it was just for myself, then I edited and forgot to change the title. Angel did loose her tooth that day and we went to hip hop and it was all round a really great day that's why I had it all on one. I'll change the title later, enjoy for today! Cheers!

36th Annual Kite Festival- Vanier Point-Kitsilano

This year I didn't forget!! The Kite Festival would always sneak up on me, my mom would say it's on, she saw it on the news, or the neighbour would mention it, she could see it from her window...last year we were on a friend's boat sailing by when "Oh no....we are missing the kite festival!"

Luckily we made it back in time to go but this year I remembered and googled it and here it is! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! The Kite Festival. This is the 36th Annual Pacific Rim Kite Festival.

We love the Kite Festival. We have so much fun! I highly recommend it.
