The Great Canadian Polar Bear Adventure!!
Really enjoying our Christmas Videos. We just moved and all our things have been in storage for over 2 years. So it's been quite the week unpacking and trying to get ready for Christmas.
The really cool part is I have all these videos that I collected when Angel was little, I also have lots of shows where I took out the commercials. So this is such a treat to watch these programs.
We are watching one, called the "The Great Canadian Polar Bear Adventure" and you know what I realized. I'm a Polar Bear. Polar Bear moms have to do it all on there own. They mate and then that's it, they have to have those babies and take care of them, feed them, teach them raise them, protect them. And the usually only have one. So that's me.
I'm just a Big White Polar Bear up in Canada...taking care of my little cub.

This is so cool! Merry Christmas Everyone...Santa Claus is coming to town!! in just 5 days, 4 sleeps!! Happy and Safe Travelling everyone.
Way to go to the Umbrella Arts Club Dancers and the band Abandon Paris!!
I suggested on my facebook page a while ago that the Salvation Army should stage little Flashmobs like that where the people stand outside stores and collect money while singing. I think people would like that and maybe give a little more.

Santa VS. The Snowman!
We're watching this right now. One of our favorites. All of our stuff has been in storage for over 2 years, and we just moved and got it all out and well we are busy getting settled. We have tons of old videos and so we are really enjoying watching them.
Some of my favorites are It's a Wonderful Life, The Snow Queen, The Little Drummer Boy, Charlie Brown Christmas, Scrooge...and so many more.
Plan to get the tree up Saturday Night, still have unpacking to do. So I apologize if I haven't been updating this. Wishing you the very best and Season's Greetings!

Simon & Garfunkel - Sound Of Silence
SOUND OF SILENCE
Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turn my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools," said I, "you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sound of silence

Very Interesting Video, gives one a lot to think about.
Wow, the video about Leonard Da Vinci is so interesting. I have read about him in college in my art history courses and saw his exhibit when it was in Victoria, B.C. but what I loved about this is the re-enactment of his childhood, that he was just playing, experimenting in the countryside.
This is such a strong argument for homeschooling/unschooling.
Other points I liked were that if you have the will and drive to learn that you can and will at any stage of the game.
I love the part, and this is not the way to word it, but the fact that he was an "bastard" child...what a horrible nasty word, illegitimate but it sort of has the same connotations today as so many people look down on single moms/dads, and place some sort of blame. And that as a child, it is beyond their control, they had nothing to do with this.
And don't think that people don't use this word, as I have had that word thrown at my child, so I know first hand it is.
What I mean is that he overcame this stigma and produced such incredible and beautiful art as well as some many other amazing things.
Anyways when I get a chance I will watch the rest of the 9 episodes. I hope you will to.
**Update just noticed that this got a lot of views this week but the actual video wasn't there. I looked really hard for the video I watched and I believe it was this one.

This is very educational and interesting, but graphic to, so not for young children. It's from the History Channel!
What Boomers Are Leaving to the "Screwed Generation"
This was on Yahoo this morning, and it paints a pretty scary picture.
I don't like to consider myself a boomer, I was born in the last year of the boomers and I have never reaped the things that those born early have. Yet then I have not bought into the materialism of that generation. After working labour jobs for 11 years and then returning to college I saw how messed up the world was and for a while I didn't even really wan to participate, but then the baby bug hit and well now I have a child and I worry, "What will her future be?" It's scary. Today on yahoo is a very interesting article and I suggest you read it as it affects us all. I have included on important paragraph in relation to housing...a crisis I am facing right now...as a single mom, we can barely rent, let alone even think of owning a home (unless we win a lottery)
Anyways have a read..
http://beta.ca.news.yahoo.com/what-the-baby-boomers-are-leaving-the--screwed-generation-.html
A capital idea. But what happens when millions of boomers all start selling off their homes to the far smaller and less wealthy generations working their way up the food chain? The baby boom generation who “have driven up housing demand and prices for three decades” could have the opposite effect once their mass sell-off commences, Dowell Myers, a University of Southern California demographer, wrote in a 2008 examination of the “generational housing bubble.” Crunching the numbers state by state, he concluded that the current subprime-inspired meltdown may well pale in comparison to what lies ahead: lots and lots of sellers, far fewer buyers, and a two-decade long slump. “Whereas the major housing problem was once affordability, it could now be homeowners’ dashed expectations after lifelong investment in home equity.” The study won a prize from the American Planning Association. Follow the link above to read the rest of this article.

Help Covenant House- Save The Future!!
The other day I got something in the mail, well my friend did, because we ourselves are actually sharing and do not have our own place. Something we pray will change very soon.
Life is like that, you have a plan, but things just don't follow it, things don't fall into place...you take 2 steps forward, and then someone or something pulls the rug out from underneath you.
It is in these really difficult times that hopefully someone will reach out a hand and pull you up. It has happened to me a number of times, because sometimes for some reason, some people just fall more than others, we are not bad people, we are not lazy or stupid, Life Happens! Bad things happen, that is Just Life!
BUT good things happen too!
Anyways, as I was saying this letter from Covenant House arrived, and it had these cute little cards, and a letter. My guess is very few people read the letter. My guess is that many people kept those cards and didn't actually read ALL the letter and just tossed it in the recycling.
It was a GREAT letter, it was so truthful and so accurate, and so IMPORTANT! So I'm asking you to go back and look at that letter because that letter explains what happens to kids that don't have the solid LOVING environment to grow up in and become healthy happy adults and actually contribute to society.
That letter tells how VERY DAMAGED SICK people sneakily prey upon beautiful young children and youths and then those children become damaged, and then these young people have no hope to actually contribute because they must seek help instead.
The Downtown Vancouver streets are scary. Years ago I had to take the bus up Hastings to commute and I saw really sad and awful things.
So I'm asking you to please READ THAT LETTER, ALL OF IT! and please visit this link and say to yourself, WHAT IF I didn't have that loving family, or WHAT IF that person didn't reach out and help me up when I fell...
That's all I'm asking, I know you'll do what you can after that.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow!!
I heard this first time about 3 years ago when I was riding home in a taxi on a VERY snowy day in Nelson B.C. The cab driver told me the name but I could not remember it. I heard it a couple of times since...and then went to a site today and heard it, so I google it and looked for it on Youtube and viola! Isn't that wonderful that we can do that.
I LOVE THIS SONG! I am sad to read that the artist has passed away as I did not know. But it's wonderful to be able to go to Wikipedia and read about his life.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_Kamakawiwo%27ole
Israel "IZ" KaÊ»anoÊ»i KamakawiwoÊ»ole (May 20, 1959 – June 26, 1997) (pronounced [kaËŒmakaˌʋiwoˈʔole]) was a Hawaiian musician.
He became famous outside Hawaii when his album Facing Future was released in 1993. His medley of "Over the Rainbow" and "What a Wonderful World" was subsequently featured in several films, television programs, and commercials.
Through his ukulele playing and incorporation of other genres (such as jazz and reggae), Kamakawiwoʻole remains one of the major influences in Hawaiian music over the last 15 years
I can not embed it, but I put the Youtube link here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1bFr2SWP1I
The power of the internet...it's amazing, when used for good, it can be so wonderful, we can share all the beautiful things in our lives and it's this huge wonderful library where we can remember loved ones lost and learn about amazing things. That is the key here, using it for good. Sharing and saying wonderful positive things...

There are Good People Out There!!
LOVE THIS STORY!!
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/25112010/71/central-return-spender.html
WOW! I love stories like this. I know there are lots of good people out there, and this confirms it. I have found money before and returned it...but the person was very suspicious, and for all the effort I went to, to actually locate them, well it wasn't nice. It was only $107 in a wallet, but they just said Thank you and didn't offer even a toonie as a thank you. Thing was at the time I really needed that money, but in the end I know in my heart my Karma was bright and shiny because of it.
This summer we tried to return an Iphone, we tried Craigslist, I thought it would be so easy, but after answering many emails, even posting the phone on Youtube, well no luck. We took it to the police, where, because it had some type of lock on it, it basically ended up in the garbage, because they could not give it to us because of privacy laws and they could not find the owner. That was sad, Iphones are expensive.
This mail carrier has awesome Karma and the man that lost the money must have wonderful Karma too, since the money he lost was returned. I just love a Good News story like this...very Christmasy...and at this time of year ...there's a lot of people who need that cheer!
Return to spender
OTTAWA-When Mike Pisapio locked his front door on Cloverlawn Crescent and headed to work Thursday morning, $1,000 in crisp, new $100 bills sat in his pocket, waiting to be spent on Christmas gifts for his wife. Read more....http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/25112010/71/central-return-spender.html

Contest and Art Show!
So definitely didn't make the list for the Vacationer Wanted Contest! Ouch! Don't know if it was just that my video and resume never made it up...because I always got this weird code 9 error or that it just wasn't good enough. Curious to see who did make it and I wish them the best of luck. How Cool is that to be able to travel around the world, blog it and get paid!
LUCKY DUCKS!!
Oh well God must have other plans for me, and well for now, I am getting ready for my little art show at the Bean Around The World on Cornwall St. (Vancouver B.C.) and I hope that you can drop by for a coffee and take a peak at my artwork, that goes up Wednesday so drop by after that...to see it all up.. It's going to be up til December 7th so that is really cool!
Brrrr....it's cold out there, just felt the cold breeze come thru the window...yikes it's going to be cold...I don't like the cold. I spent years working in the cold at a processing plant and just lots of time outside, and my bones and tendon no likey!
I'm getting so excited about Christmas and now I plan to paint my place so that will be so nice. Lots of work but in the end it will give me such a new perspective. This time of year is great for staying inside and doing things like that...in the warmer times and summer it's just to hot to stay inside and who wants to.
This is the time of year to bake and decorate and make hot chocolate. I wonder if it will actually snow here. For many years we only got smidgens of snow...or it would dump and then melt away. In Nelson now that was a different story. I hope that we get to enjoy the snow for a bit and we can go out and play and then after I hope we can run away to warmer temps. Just praying and projecting. Lots of projects to finish first.
Okay that's all for today. Touch base later. :)

2 Eagles on Totem
So today was pretty cool, there were two eagles on top of the totem pole. Check this out. I'm going to make a little video in a bit, check back later. There not super sharp because they are pretty far away, and my camera can only do so much, I added a watercolour effect to make it look a little better.

Rememberance Day
Remembrance Day

Official name | Remembrance Day |
Also called | Poppy Day, Armistice Day |

Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November to recall the official end of World War I on that date in 1918, as the major hostilities of World War I were formally ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice. (Note that "at the 11th hour", refers to the passing of the 11th hour, or 11:00 am.)

Poppies
Wreaths of artificial poppies used as a symbol of remembrancePoppies are sold every year as an act of remembrance to fallen soldiers at war
The poppy's significance to Remembrance Day is a result of Canadian military physician John McCrae's poem In Flanders Fields. The poppy emblem was chosen because of the poppies that bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their red colour an appropriate symbol for the bloodshed of trench warfare
War poetry
Poppies stand as a prominent feature of In Flanders Fields, one of the most frequently quoted English-language poems composed by front-line personnel during the First World War. It was written by John McCrae, a doctor serving in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, and appeared for the first time in Punch magazine on December 8, 1915.In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.
- John McCrae
Grand Ole Trees!!
I just loved these super tall old trees! Wow if they could talk. Sometimes I worry about them when the wind blows really hard. They are sure gorgeous today!!

Eagle on a Totem Pole
I just love my new camera. It's just a little Canon, but it's so small and light to carry, and takes awesome photos. Check out my Eagle on the Totem Pole. This is the first time I actually got a decent shot of this, I have seen eagles on the pole many times over the years, never got very good photos of it.
Cameras have improved so much, it's just amazing how far we have come. Anyways, without further ado my photo of the day!
Big Changes!! Cloud with a Silver Lining!
Please bare with me a bit, as I am trying to unify all my blogs, link them together with buttons and give a more polished look. So things might be crazy for a little bit, so I ask for your patience. Gracias!
Took some great photos today. Here's one of a cloud with a silver lining. Saw an eagle on the totem pole and I will share that with you asap. First things first though.

Bean Around the World!!
I would love to say that..."I've been around the world!!" One day I hope I can. Right now I can say I've been to Mexico...and a bunch of other places and I have alot of great photos and paintings to share with you.
And I have a really great announcement, for the last two weeks of November I get to display my art at Bean Around the World on Cornwall st. in Kitsilano.
So keep in touch and I will post some more info soon.
I'm so excited, it's been a long time since I've had any type of art show.
Okay stay tuned!
