Hey Let's HELP these Grads see the WORLD!
Traveling is the best education. Of course researching and learning about the cultures & places you visit is very important. It definitely is life changing. I hope they get to experience it.
Think butterfly effect...how might their life change your life...never know.
I hope they can go down to Mexico especially Chiapas, and Oaxaca. I can not help financially but I can share this. So you heard them ...Help them see the WORLD!! :D
There will be nine potential graduates from the Coast Tsimshian Academy, in the isolated northwestern B.C. village of Lax Kw'alaams, this June.
To celebrate the milestone, the Grade 12 class is raising funds to go on an unforgettable grad trip to see what Canada has to offer.

THE TIME TO RISE IS NOW!
Today I Rise from The Flourish Initiative on Vimeo.
You're broken down and tired
Of living life on a merry go round
And you can't find the fighter
But I see it in you so we gonna walk it out
And move mountains
We gonna walk it out
And move mountains
And I'll rise up
I'll rise like the day
I'll rise up
I'll rise unafraid
I'll rise up
And I'll do it a thousand times again
And I'll rise up
High like the waves
I'll rise up
In spite of the ache
I'll rise up And I'll do it a thousands times again
For you
For you
For you
For you
When the silence isn't quiet
And it feels like it's getting hard to breathe
And I know you feel like dying
But I promise we'll take the world to its feet
And move mountains
We'll take it to its feet
And move mountains
And I'll rise up
I'll rise like the day
I'll rise up
I'll rise unafraid
I'll rise up
And I'll do it a thousand times again
For you
For you
For you
For you
All we need, all we need is hope
And for that we have each other
And for that we have each other
We will rise
We will rise
We'll rise, oh oh
We'll rise
I'll rise up
Rise like the day

“Water is life,” said Coldwater Chief Lee Spahan
“Water is life,” said Coldwater Chief Lee Spahan in the
press release. “My band’s situation is just like what the Standing Rock
Sioux were facing — our primary source of drinking water is under
threat and there is no need for it.”
http://www.merrittherald.com/coldwater-indian-band-issues-court-challenge-pipeline/
“The existing Kinder Morgan pipeline was built through our reserve, and above our aquifer, at a time when it was illegal for us to vote or hire a lawyer,” Spahan stated in an email on Jan. 17. “Due to its location the expansion poses even greater risk to our drinking water.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a little poem I wrote for you.
What would you do if someone threatened your water supply.
If your kid's puked brown goo?
Like what happened in Kalamazoo.
Could happen to any of you...
Sadly it's very true.
So I ask of you
On this very day,
help donate and support
the cause in any way.
Do it for your kids,
and grandkids too,
I never want anyone to
puke brown goo
Do you?

Women's March on Washington - Vancouver |
The Women’s March Vancouver will run from 10 AM - 12 AM at Jack Poole Plaza on Saturday, January 21, 2017, on the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. These territories were never ceded through treaty, war or surrender.
We will have music and speakers starting at 10 AM and will then march through prominant Vancouver streets and return back to Jack Poole Plaza for more music and speakers. Those unable to march are welcome to stay at the Plaza.
PLEASE RSVP YOUR ATTENDANCE:
https://actionnetwork.org/events/womens-march-vancouver
THIS IS A FREE EVENT. NO TICKET NEEDED. It's just a way for us to get an accurate attendance.
Sign language interpreters will be at the march.
We will mobilize as women and supporters of women to protect our rights and civil liberties.
We stand in solidarity with other women’s marches planned across the country and the world on January 21. WE WILL BE SEEN AND HEARD by the new administration.
We are people of different colors, backgrounds, religious faiths, and politics. We support women’s/human rights. We are activists, seasoned and new. We are people of varying economic, educational, and social situations. We are immigrants of all statuses. We are native and indigenous. We are people of diverse gender identification and sexual identities—LGBTQ2+, hetero, and other. We are of diverse marital status and age. We have varied abilities. We are survivors of trauma.
We are people of diversities more numerous than can be mentioned here, and we stand together to protect each of them. We stand against hate in all forms and against targeting any groups or individuals. For ourselves and others, we express our right to respect and acceptance without bias or persecution.
The mission of Women’s March Vancouver is: CONNECT, PROTECT, ACTIVATE. We CONNECT to support each other in PROTECT-ing and furthering women’s rights and civil liberties. We ACTIVATE in our communities to uphold and strengthen values, rights, and humanity.
JOIN US.

Jane Fonda- Fort McMurray- LNG & Allies
Jane Fonda in Fort McMurray
"During a portion of the interview, Fonda stood with her hand on the shoulder of Cleo Desjarlais Reece, a member of the Fort McMurray First Nation.
The two had lunch together, and Desjarlais Reece said they talked about the greed of corporations that place profits above the health of people and the environment.
Reece, also a member of anti-oilsands group Keepers of the Athabasca, defended Fonda's visit. She said she disagreed with those who say celebrity tours are merely circuses that distract from important issues."
"We do not control the media, obviously," she said. "Anytime [we get] a chance to give our side of the story and tell our truth, I think that is very important for us.
The voices of Indigenous groups, Desjarlais Reece said, are often heard only when celebrities show up.

Last night I sharpened my tools for carving. I bought a sharpening stone. You can see the photos here on my Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/zipolita
I posted a lot of important info yesterday about my Salmon Research. It's related to the carving we are doing in our Reconciliation carving class. https://mylangaratrccarvingjourney.blogspot.ca/2017/01/salmon-research.html
Discovered something super cool on Blogger today, you can write in Aboriginal languages because it's got the characters. Isn't the awesome. Maybe it was there before but I just found this. I find this very interesting because I was reading last night about a course in the Squamish Language and I find that very interesting. I would like to learn Squamish.Sḵwx̱wú7mesh
Okay I have another blog post I want to do so hang on. See you at the next post!
