A Note on Fear, Change, and Staying Grounded

A Note on Fear, Change, and Staying Grounded

When I write about technology, copyright, and artificial intelligence, it can sometimes sound heavy or even overwhelming. That isn’t my intention.

I think what many of us are feeling right now is not just fear of new technology, but exhaustion from how fast everything keeps changing.

I’ve lived through several major shifts in creative work—darkroom photography, the rise of digital imaging, the internet, social media, and now artificial intelligence. Each stage brought uncertainty. Each stage raised the same questions about control, ownership, and authenticity.

And yet, creativity didn’t disappear.

It adapted.

One thing I keep reminding myself is this: technology changes the tools, but it does not replace the human experience behind the work. A photograph is still a moment seen through someone’s eyes. A story is still shaped by lived experience. A piece of music still carries emotion that no machine fully understands in the human sense.

There is also something important that often gets lost in the noise: awareness itself is power.

The fact that people are questioning AI, copyright, and digital identity means we are not passive in this process. We are actively trying to understand it, shape it, and set boundaries around it.

That matters.

It’s easy to imagine worst-case scenarios, especially when headlines feel extreme. But in reality, most change happens gradually, through pushback, discussion, law, and everyday decisions about what we accept and what we refuse.

Creativity has survived every technological shift so far—not because it stayed the same, but because people kept creating anyway.

So instead of thinking of this moment as the end of control, I try to think of it as another turning point. A messy one, yes. But also one where more people than ever are talking about fairness, consent, and respect for creative work.

That conversation itself is a form of hope.

New Chapter for DTES

πŸŒŸπŸ’« A New Chapter for the Downtown Eastside πŸ’«πŸŒŸ

Today my heart is full of gratitude πŸ™πŸ’– and hope 🌈✨. News that Larry Campbell — former Vancouver Mayor, Senator, and Coroner — has been appointed to oversee efforts in the Downtown Eastside (DTES) feels like a sign that maybe, just maybe, great change is finally coming 🌱🌍.

Larry has walked many hard paths — from the heartbreak of being a coroner ⚰️πŸ’”, to the challenges of being Mayor πŸ™️, to years of public service πŸ‘”. Now, he’s stepping into one of the toughest roles yet: helping the DTES heal, rebuild, and rise πŸ•Š️.

πŸ’œ The DTES is a place of deep resilience 🌟, but also deep struggles 😒. Addiction, homelessness, poverty, and stigma have weighed heavy for decades. This new role is not just another job — it’s a calling πŸ’«πŸŒˆπŸŒΈ.

🌿✨ I pray this appointment brings:
🏠 Affordable & safe housing
🧑 Real compassion in health & social care
🌳 Clean, safe public spaces
🀝 Respect for community voices
πŸ’‘ Dignity & hope for every single person

This is a chance to bring together government, non-profits, and most importantly the people who live in the DTES themselves πŸ—£️❤️. Healing only happens when everyone’s voice is heard.

🌟 May Larry Campbell have the wisdom 🌿, the heart πŸ’–, and the courage 🦁 to guide this work well. And may we as a community stand behind positive change 🌈✨.

Let’s believe that this moment is the beginning of something brighter 🌞🌸🌿 for the DTES, for Vancouver, and for all of us.

It Was Dark... But Then It Changed

🌀️ It Was Dark... But Then It Changed

By Zipolita – Tina Winterlik

It’s easy to feel like the world is falling apart. Sometimes it feels like we’re heading straight into disaster: war, poverty, inequality, climate collapse... and it’s hard to know where to find hope.

But history reminds us: we’ve been through darkness before. And somehow, some way... we came through it. Not perfectly. Not without pain. But we survived. We changed. We grew.

So today, I want to share some moments in history when things felt hopeless—until they weren’t.

πŸ•―️ 1. The Black Plague → The Renaissance

In the 1300s, Europe lost over half its population to the Black Death. Entire towns were wiped out. People thought it was the end of the world. But from that deep loss came rebirth. Labour became more valued. New ideas emerged. And out of the ashes came art, science, and invention: the Renaissance.

πŸ•Š️ 2. World War II → Human Rights & Public Health

After the horrors of World War II—holocaust, nuclear bombs, and global grief—countries came together and created the United Nations. They drafted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Canada and other countries built public health systems and welfare programs. Out of the worst violence came new commitments to peace and dignity.

🌍 3. Apartheid → Mandela’s Dream

South Africa endured decades of brutal apartheid. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years. But when he was released, he didn’t call for revenge—he led with love and truth. He became president. The country transitioned peacefully. It wasn’t perfect, but it was transformational.

🌈 4. Civil Rights in the U.S.

There was a time in the U.S. when Black Americans couldn’t vote, go to school with white kids, or even sit at the front of the bus. But people stood up: Rosa Parks. Dr. King. Fannie Lou Hamer. The Civil Rights Act passed. Laws changed. Minds opened. The struggle continues—but so does the hope.

❤️‍🩹 5. The AIDS Crisis → Activism & Treatment

In the 1980s, governments ignored the AIDS epidemic. LGBTQ+ people were dying, forgotten. But they organized. They protested. They cared for each other. Today, HIV is treatable. The movement helped transform healthcare, science, and LGBTQ+ rights forever.

🌱 6. The Ozone Hole → Global Repair

In the 1980s, scientists discovered a huge hole in the ozone layer. It was terrifying. But the world came together and banned the chemicals causing it. Now, the ozone is healing. A reminder that when we act together, nature responds.

πŸ’š So What Does That Mean for Us?

We are living through dark times again. But darkness isn’t the end. It’s the part of the story before the turning point.

We can be the generation that:

  • Chooses community over competition
  • Demands climate action and real equality
  • Shares wealth, art, stories, and dreams
  • Raises kind, brave, thoughtful children

You might feel powerless. But you’re not. You can speak. Share. Create. Help. Plant something. Tell the truth. Rest. And begin again.

History teaches us one thing over and over:
It was dark. But then it changed.

Let’s be part of the change this time. 🌍

Australia Votes for Hope

Australia Votes for Hope: Labor’s Victory and the Global Pushback Against Fascism

By Tina Winterlik aka Zipolita

On May 3, 2025, something powerful happened in Australia—something that should inspire people around the world who believe in democracy, social justice, and climate action.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Australian Labor Party won a resounding victory, securing a strong majority government. This election wasn’t just a routine political shift. It was a clear rejection of far-right narratives, fear politics, and divisive leadership. It was a powerful reminder that people—when empowered—can push back against the rising tide of fascism.

A Historic Win

This marks the first time in Australia’s history that a Labor Prime Minister has been re-elected with a larger majority. Albanese’s platform focused on practical yet compassionate policies: easing the cost of living, expanding social services, taking climate change seriously, and restoring dignity to public discourse.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Peter Dutton—a symbol of the hard-right in Australian politics—not only lost the election, but also lost his own seat. That hasn’t happened to a federal opposition leader in over 100 years.

Let that sink in.

The people didn’t just vote out the far-right—they voted it out with clarity and force.

Australia’s Parties for Canadian Eyes

For those of us watching from Canada, it helps to understand the lay of the land:

  • Labor is Australia’s centre-left party, like a blend between our NDP and Liberals.
  • The Liberals (despite the name) are conservative and aligned with the business-friendly, right-wing policies of our Conservative Party.
  • The Greens are like our Greens but more influential—they lost seats this time but still hold significant sway.
  • The Nationals, partners of the Liberals, are a rural, socially conservative force.
  • Independents, especially progressive “teals,” continue to shake up old power structures.

Australia’s system is different—voting is compulsory, and preferential voting gives people more power to vote with their conscience. What a concept!

Why This Matters Globally

In a time when many countries are struggling with disinformation, climate denial, growing inequality, and increasing authoritarianism, Australia’s election results are a beacon of hope.

It shows that when people are informed, engaged, and given a system that values their vote—they choose community over cruelty, equity over exclusion, and facts over fear.

The Message to the World: We Are Not Alone

Fascism relies on division. It spreads in silence. But movements—whether in Australia, Canada, the U.S., or beyond—grow in solidarity. When we see victories like this, we know that the fight isn’t over—and we’re not alone in it.

We can take inspiration from this moment to demand better leadership, fairer systems, and policies that protect the vulnerable and our planet. We can reject leaders who govern by scapegoating, and instead uplift those who lead with empathy and evidence.

Keep Watching, Keep Speaking

Let’s celebrate this win—and learn from it.

Let’s build systems that represent the people, not the powerful.

And let’s remember: hope is not passive. It’s active, and it just won a majority government in Australia.

Finding Hope in Dark Times

Finding Hope in Dark Times: A Quiet Revolution of the Heart

By Tina Winterlik aka Zipolita

It feels like the world is breaking open.

Canadians talk of boycotting the U.S. just to feel safe. People are being deported, silenced, divided. Oligarchs are playing monopoly with the stock market. Housing is out of reach. Many of our elders—our wisdom-keepers—can’t find work or shelter. Meanwhile, addiction is rising, empathy seems scarce, and an election looms like a storm cloud, full of bickering and blame.

In the U.S., we watch as power concentrates into fewer, greedier hands. Here in Canada, people are being exploited through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, while newcomers and locals alike scramble for a place to sleep and a job that pays enough to live.

And amidst it all, there’s a strange surge of scooters, bikes, Ubers, noise, cars, even cats in strollers—chaos on the roads and confusion in the air. Someone yelled at me recently for "not knowing how to ride a bike"—even though they made the mistake. That moment stuck with me. We've lost patience, compassion, rhythm. Maybe even ourselves.

So what now?

We breathe.
We sit on a log at the beach.
We listen to the water.
We close our eyes and send out one hopeful thought—

That peace will prevail.
That the wars will stop.
That we will take care of each other again.
That food, homes, and dignity will be shared.
That equity will rise, not greed.
That we’ll return to the soil—to gardens, chickens, small homes, and honest days.
That we’ll stop chasing the next gadget and start growing real lives again.

Not everyone will want that.
Some are still addicted to status, to tennis clubs and high-end cars, to Monte Carlo dreams.
But many of us?
We’re dreaming different now.
And maybe if enough of us breathe together, the world will pause and remember its heart.

Because the heart’s electromagnetic field is real—5,000 times stronger than the brain’s.
And when people come together in love, peace, and gratitude… crime can fall.
That’s been studied.
And maybe, just maybe, change can ripple from the inside out.

So don’t give up.
Even in the dark, the quiet revolution is already happening.
One peaceful breath at a time.

Here’s a little Hope Mantra

I am rooted in love and light.

I am healthy, whole, and resilient.

I face each challenge with grace and courage.

I am a force for good in this world.

I trust the journey, even when the road is rough.

I shine with truth, compassion, and purpose.

Peace begins in me, and ripples outward.

Title: "The Riot Act on Billionaires: A Story of Urgency and Change"

Act 1: The Fall (The World Spiraling into Chaos)

The year is 2025. Vancouver, once a vibrant and thriving city, is now a place of desolation. The wealthy elite have bought up entire neighborhoods, leaving thousands of homeless citizens to wander the streets. The crisis of housing affordability has reached its breaking point, and the atmosphere is thick with tension. People protest in the streets, but the protests turn violent as frustration and despair grow.

Climate change continues to ravage the world, with wildfires sweeping through British Columbia, floods devastating entire provinces, and the global economy teetering on the brink of collapse. Leaders—once filled with hope and ambition—now face the bitter reality of their inaction.

Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, watches the news coverage in his office. His children appear on the screen, leading a youth-led protest about the climate crisis and inequality. His youngest daughter looks directly into the camera and says, “Why should I have to beg for a future when my dad is the Prime Minister?” The words pierce through him like a blade.

Across the country, Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party, receives a heartfelt letter from her daughter, who is now an adult. The letter reads: “Mom, you’ve always been my hero. But if you can’t save us, who will?” Elizabeth's eyes fill with tears as she reads the plea.

David Eby, Premier of British Columbia, faces a painful confrontation with his teenage child. After another eviction notice is served to a family of friends, David's child asks him, “You’re supposed to fix this, Dad. How can you let them lose everything?” The guilt of his failure weighs heavily on him.

As the crisis deepens, the leaders’ internal turmoil grows. The fate of their children and the world they are inheriting demands urgent action. The time for debate is over.

Act 2: The Turning Point (The Riot Act on Billionaires)

In a private, dimly lit room, Trudeau, Eby, and May meet. The weight of the world is on their shoulders. This meeting is not about politics; it’s about survival—for their children, for the planet, for all Canadians.

Trudeau: "I’ve spent my life trying to live up to my father’s legacy, but what legacy am I leaving my kids? A dying planet? Empty promises?" His voice trembles with emotion.

May: "My daughter told me she doesn’t want kids of her own because she can’t imagine bringing them into this world. That’s on me." Her words cut deep.

Eby: "We’re all complicit in this mess, but we can still change it. Not for us—for them." His eyes are resolute, as though he is finally ready to make the hard decisions.

After a long silence, they finally come to a unanimous decision. They will implement a bold, radical plan—one that could turn the tide of the nation’s future. They call it the Riot Act on Billionaires. This plan will dismantle the stranglehold that the super-rich have on the country and redistribute power and resources where they truly belong: to the people.

Act 3: Declaration to the People

The three leaders appear before the nation, standing together in front of a large crowd of supporters. The air is charged with anticipation. Their message is clear, and it comes from the heart.

Trudeau: (looking directly into the camera, his children standing beside him) "We’ve spent too long prioritizing the wrong things. People are suffering. My kids—your kids—deserve more than the mess we’ve left them. Starting today, we’re fighting for their future."

May: "This isn’t about politics or power anymore. It’s about survival. It’s about love—for our children, for the Earth, for each other. We’ve failed, but now we will act."

Eby: "We owe them a world they can live in, not one destroyed by greed and apathy. We’ve passed the tipping point. Now, it’s time to act."

With a final look of resolve, the leaders announce the implementation of the Riot Act on Billionaires:

1. Wealth Caps: Billionaires’ assets beyond $1 billion will be nationalized and redistributed into public infrastructure projects.

2. Vacancy Taxes: A 90% tax on vacant properties, with immediate seizure for properties left unoccupied beyond six months.

3. Climate Reparations: Billionaires must pay into a Green Future Fund proportional to their carbon footprint.

4. Universal Basic Income: Funded by new wealth taxes, ensuring no Canadian lives in poverty.

5. Media Reform: Billionaire-owned media conglomerates will be broken up to ensure diverse voices are heard.

6. Global Cooperation: The leaders call for an emergency UN resolution to ban tax havens and enforce global wealth taxes.

---

Act 4: The Ascent (Rebuilding Society)

The response to these sweeping changes is immediate. The backlash is fierce—billionaires flee with their fortunes, attempting to escape justice. But international cooperation ensures that they cannot hide forever. Their assets are seized, and wealth is redistributed to the public good.

Across the country, the changes are tangible. Once-empty homes are now occupied, transformed into social housing. The streets, once filled with protests, are now filled with communities working together to rebuild. Urban gardens sprout in once-vacant lots. Renewable energy projects begin to power schools, hospitals, and homes. People no longer struggle to make ends meet.

A year later, the three leaders walk through the streets of Vancouver, now a vibrant and thriving city once more. Their children are there too, planting trees in a park that was once polluted and neglected.

Trudeau: "We did it for them. For our children."

May: "For everyone. For the future."

Eby: "And this is just the beginning."

Final Scene: A Message of Hope

The camera zooms in on Alex, our grassroots protagonist, now an adult, speaking at the United Nations to a global audience.

Alex: "We turned it around for them. Now, let’s keep it going—for everyone. The fight is far from over, but together, we have the power to change the world."

As Alex speaks, children across the globe watch and listen. A new wave of hope is born. The time of billionaires hoarding resources is over, and the era of collective action has begun.

Themes:

1. Parental Responsibility: The leaders’ decisions are driven by their love and responsibility for their children’s futures.

2. Intergenerational Solidarity: The story connects the struggles of today’s youth with the legacy their parents are leaving behind.

3. Urgency and Action: This is a call to action—one that must happen now or face irreversible consequences for the next generation.

#BlueMonday

HEY YOU, ARE YOU BLUE?
Let me cheer you up a bit, okay, please!
I know what it feels like to be blue, I understand and if I can help a little bit, I want to try.

Here are some suggestions.
Here is a beautiful video of one of my favourite places.

http://shambhalavision.blogspot.ca/

http://shambhalavision.blogspot.ca/

Or if you can, head down to Mexico, to Zipolite, here's are a few links

http://rocablancaposada.blogspot.ca/

Posada Esmeralda is a lovely quiet Posada, located on the main road in Zipolite, near Roca Blanca

http://posadaesmeralda.blogspot.ca/

I have this blog and on it are lots of posts about our visit to Mexico. Why don't you read them and plan your trip. Imagine all the wonderful place you will go. Feel the sun on your face and sand between your toes!!

http://adventurezinmexico.blogspot.ca/

http://adventurezinmexico.blogspot.ca/
You know ,maybe you don't know, I could possibly know what you are going through, but have great empathy for you. January is a hard month. I know because my mom passed away the day before my birthday. I loved her so much and it devastated me. But time passes and we begin to heal. It's been 9 years now, and there are still many days where I actually say out loud..."I miss you Mom!! " I also understand what is like to lose someone you love to suicide and that is also devastating. Sadly as we get older many of the people we love move on to the next level and we feel left behind and lonely

The only advice I have is when things are at their very darkest, hang on, hang on until tomorrow. So many times I have been sad and scared and at my wits end about what to do, but I managed to hang on until the next day.

And always something amazing would happen. Miracles, a sign, hope! The angels will help you but you have to give them time, give them a chance. Just make it to the next day, good things will happen, I know because I've been there. People love you, reach out! Never give up!

And for everyone out there, you reach out, check in with people. See how they are doing. People who are hurting won't tell. They are embarrassed, sad, frightened, feeling discouraged and hopeless.

And smile at people, you don't know what a smile can do for someone, compliment someone, do a Pay It Forward, and buy someone's coffee, give that homeless guy on the corner a banana and a loonie, even if you don't have much yourself, because it will come back to you. It will. Trust me.

Good things will happen. I send you love and light and pray that we will all be okay. It's just life right. Sometimes life sucks, but we can survive amazing things when you have someone that cares.
When you know people love you, it makes all the difference in the world.

Also:
Go for a walk
Make Art
Love and be loveable
Hug- get a 20 second hug as often as your can, it's like a drug...we ALL need to be hugged often.
Eat as well as you can- I KNOW, that can be hard if you have little money but try, please!
Keep a journal- MAKE A VISION JOURNAL
Travel if you can- it will enlighten you!

I have 140 videos of my last trip to Mexico, might be something in here to cheer you and help brighten your life, inspire you, ...
http://adventurezinmexico.blogspot.ca/p/140-videos-i-made-in-mexico.html

I made this website about Zipolite, you can check it out to
http://zipolitemexico.blogspot.ca/

And this is just a nice video to calm you.

Now if you need something to do with your hands, here's a good art project, you can put your own spin on it.

What a beautiful song. Wow! Sophie can really sing! Beautiful!

What a breath of fresh air,  and #hope, we really need that right now with

So many attacks on the environment coming from all sides. People are stepping up but we NEED encouragement and reminders that it will be okay!

Thanks Sophie, I really love you! I think you Rock! I thought so the first time I heard you speak.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife felt so inspired by a celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Ottawa City Hall on Monday that she broke into song, Postmedia reported.
GrΓ©goire-Trudeau was a guest speaker at the event, and she sang a song titled "Smile Back at Me" that she had written for her daughter, said The Ottawa Sun. See more here

Martin Luther King Jr. Day
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther_King,_Jr._Day
King was the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. The campaign for a federal holiday in King's honor began soon after his assassination in 1968. President Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983, and it was first observed three years later. At first, some states resisted observing the holiday as such, giving it alternative names or combining it with other holidays. It was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000.

 Outside United States
One place outside the U.S. where Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is observed with equal importance is in the Japanese city of Hiroshima under mayor Tadatoshi Akiba, who holds a special banquet at the mayor's office as an act of unifying his city's call for peace with King's message of human rights.[32]
The city of Toronto, Canada, is another city that has officially recognized Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, although not as a paid holiday: all government services and businesses remain open

New Canadian PM Justin Trudeau Just Showed the World How You Treat Women in Politics

http://mic.com/articles/127937/new-canadian-pm-justin-trudeau-just-showed-the-world-how-you-treat-women-in-politics

"Justin Trudeau, arguably the world's new favorite prime minister was sworn in as Canada's 23rd leader on Wednesday morning and announced a new cabinet that looks radically different from the one under his conservative predecessor, Stephen Harper. Arriving hand-in-hand with his wife, Sophie GrΓ©goire, at Rideau Hall in Ottawa by foot, breaking the nearly decade-long conservative tradition of ministers arriving aboard limousines, Trudeau signaled what many were hoping for: a fresh new era in Canadian politics.

Trudeau had vowed to design a cabinet with equal gender representation, and he delivered on the promise.  A full list of the cabinet shows that 15 out of 30 new cabinet members are female. Most noteworthy is his decision to assign Jody Wilson-Raybould, a native woman, as the new minister of justice. This is the first time a native person has ever been assigned to that role. Given the lack of accountability and attention the missing and murdered indigenous women in Canada have received over the years, Trudeau's decision to appoint Wilson-Raybould to lead the justice department is more than symbolic — it could be a game-changer." This song could mean a lot of things but to me it's a warning and it's about change and I believe it's about out with the old and in with the new. Good things are coming...there could be some bad but we are on a much better path than we were.  Oh the Times they are a Changing!!

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'
Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside ragin'
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'
The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin'
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'

Attack Ads, Dirty Politics & Propaganda

So this petition is apparently based on a website with fake info.

I got caught too when a friend on Facebook pointed it out.

But apparently this is real!

Downtown Vancouver church plans to build 56-storey highrise

http://www.vancouversun.com/downtown+vancouver+church+plans+build+storey+highrise/11372323/story.html

So my friend on FB pointed this out after I shared the  petition. And I shared it because the previous day I saw this.  And I had found this disturbing. And I thought maybe it was fake!

I shared this! "I LOVE HERITAGE BUILDINGS! and in 1999 I created some beautiful photos of Heritage Buildings and had a show. Here is a video of it. And you have to wonder why they made a fake site and the real question is who. Was it a student, was it a warning, does someone know something we don't? Was it Adbusters or someone similar...who's the joker and whose being pranked or warned?"

Now this gets even more interesting! Check out this info and video from Wikipedia about a movement from the 1930's that was trying to end poverty but interestingly it didn't succeed, NOT because the people didn't want it but they were manipulated by propaganda. It was the big movie theatres playing these clips in the theatres before all the movies.  Read below.

Isn't that interesting how all those political ads show up before we can watch a video on a news site. (brainwashing) (advertising)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Wikipedia
The End Poverty in California movement (EPIC) was a political campaign started in 1934 by famed socialist writer Upton Sinclair. The movement formed the basis for Sinclair’s campaign for Governor of California in 1934. The plan called for a massive public works program, sweeping tax reform, and guaranteed pensions. The plan gained major support, with thousands joining End Poverty Leagues across the state. EPIC never came to fruition due to Sinclair’s defeat in the 1934 election, but is seen as an influence on New Deal programs enacted by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

EPIC faced major opposition by the Republican Party and major media figures. Opponents of EPIC “organized the most lavish and creative dirty-tricks campaign ever seen—one that was to become a landmark in American politics” involving “turning over a major campaign to outside advertising, publicity, media and fundraising consultants for the first time.” Notable among these opponents were the heads of the major movie studios in Hollywood. This was largely due to Sinclair’s proposal to hand over idle movie studio lots to unemployed film workers to make movies of their own.

In reaction, the studio heads threatened to move film operations to Florida, and deducted money from employee’s paychecks to give directly to the campaign of Sinclair’s Republican opponent for Governor, Frank Merriam. In addition, two of the state’s most influential media moguls, William Randolph Hearst and Harry Chandler used their papers to solely cover Merriam’s campaign and to attack Sinclair. In the face of this coordinated opposition, and without the backing of Roosevelt, Sinclair began trailing Merriam in the polls. On November 6, 1934, Merriam defeated Sinclair with 1,138,629 (48.9%) to Sinclair’s 879,537 (37.8%). Despite his defeat, Sinclair’s vote total was the twice as large as the vote total of any Democratic candidate in California history to that point. In addition, two dozen candidates running on the EPIC platform were elected to the state legislature.

Now if you are not familiar Adbusters they are known for doing some interesting they that have spurred huge things. https://www.adbusters.org/campaigns/occupywallstreet  Like a little thing called Occupy Wall Street. https://www.adbusters.org/blogs/adbusters-blog/occupywallstreet.html

Now Occupy Wall Street doesn't just happen because someone posts a picture obviously there are many variables that play a role. But consider this?

It was recently suggested to me by my friend that, that is perhaps why we have so many homeless in Stanley Park, and now suddenly we actually have real crime, like a child almost abducted...perhaps and maybe it was all co-incidence but perhaps some evil person is trying to instill fear into people so they could fill Stanley Park with Condos.

Sounds Crazy Right? But I am sure Occupy Wall Street just sounded like a silly crazy idea to start too! But isn't it amazing how these things get started.

Can we step back and take a look at the bigger picture...who is doing the manipulating and who is being manipulated. What is the truth?

Canada is at a crossroads. We as a nation have really been damaged by things our government has done. This is not the Canada I was raised in. We are bombarded with ads fake and real every second of the day.

Our Government has lied to us repeatedly and if there is just one thing to take a way from it all...always keep an open mind and question everything.  We can easily be distracted from the truth and can even get caught up in fear.

We must Chose Love Not Fear!!

I wanted to share this other great video but it's blocked for me because it has some BBC  stuff in it! So sad because it was great. It was called "A Message of Hope" this is the second, it's nice but the other was amazing.
