I love this message. Made me all teary when I read it.

Inspire youth to embrace life.
Join the #NationalCircle

"In response to the ongoing national suicide crisis facing too many First Nations people, we are calling for a National Circle of Ceremony and Healing for Our Spirits.

The AFN is asking Indigenous peoples and all Canadians to pray or perform ceremonies according to their own beliefs, faiths and customs. We want to inspire all people to share messages of hope and love to communities across the country.

We invite everyone to share videos, messages and information about activities they are doing or organizing for the National Circle on March 17"

THUMB'S UP for the Vancouver Childrens Festival 2011

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Well I wasn't sure what to expect, we had been to the Vancouver International Children's Festival 6 or 7x before and well we really liked it the way it was, but we are giving it the Big Thumbs Up.

We had a GREAT TIME. Check out the videos below. I did my best, I would have like to spent more time perfecting them but I wanted to share them today so I hope you'll give me a little grace.

We really had so much fun. We were really lucky we had good weather for most of it, it just rained for a little while and we happened to be in a tent making fairy clothes, and then we went and got a donut and coffee in the market.

Truthfully I think this is a better concept now. It will be good for the market, and the $5 wrist band was totally in our budget, and we really got our money's worth.

Still by the time we bought donuts and a cool little "Loud Mouth " whistle it was close to $18 but not bad for such a FABULOUS DAY.

DON'T MISS OUT. Definitely go down to the Children's Festival. Remember it's only 9:30 to 2:30 so be sure to go early and take advantage of the different activities.

We hit the facepainting first, and there was quite a line up but it went quite fast and the girls did a AWESOME job.

Children's Festival Starts tomorrow.

Oh we have a had some awesome times at the Children's Festival, but we've always found it expensive. It used to be $10 for each of us and then a popcorn/ cotton candy or a some type of treat and it was an easy $30.

We've never been to any shows. A friend was telling me that when it first started it was so different, all open and was so much cheaper. I don't know about this but I did hear that Raffi pulled out when the corporations started to back it, I don't know if that's true, it's just what I heard.

What I do know is they moved it this year. To Granville Market- I was really upset when I heard this, and well from the sounds of it, it's definitely not going to be the same.

Word is that if it doesn't do well, that's it, it's over, because the funding has be cut way back and they have a deficit, so that really sucks.

Will we have fun? I don't know, but we will find out and at $5 for each of us, that's alot easier to swallow. So we will let you all know how it goes.  Check out the website for more info.

Let's Decorate Easter Eggs

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Saturday -Only 15 days til Easter, I heard over and over by one very excited little cherub. The count down has begun. Last year we were in Oaxaca Mexico and we enjoyed celebrating Semana Santa/Holy Week it in a very different way than Canada does, but I like to keep both the Mexican and Canadian traditions alive and strong. So we brought out all the bunnies and some eggs and baskets and said..."Let the decorating begin!"

Deserres Design an Egg Project

Just a note about the plastic eggs, I know it's not green, but right now I have this wicked cold and a really bad earache that I got because we ended up waiting along time for the bus the other day, out in the cold and wind, when we went to visit a dear dear relative in the hospital.

This earache is sort of making me CraZy, but hopefully it will be gone soon.  Has to do with my sinuses.

Needless to say I can not blow any eggs right now, and I wanted to share this experience with my girl. We never seem to eat the eggs we make and you can't paint them.

These little keepsakes I can keep for years and treasure. So that's why plastic eggs, guess I could have got paper ones, but these caught my eye and were just S2.49.  So there you go. Next time I will try harder and we will make the eggs from paper mache. I actually tried that once, they didn't turn out so good. There's an art to it. :)
