Listen to this before you listen to Robert Kennedy's speech.

Robert Kennedy's Speech- 1966- Listen...after the Power of Song but do listen.

(See below) Remember this is 1966, google and look at Wikipedia to see what was happening back then and think about now...the differences, and things that have not changed. Especially listen at the 17:09 mark...but try to listen to all and think and evaluate carefully the whole...about then, now and the future...

Also known as the Ripple of Hope Speech
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_Affirmation_Address
n the address Kennedy talked about individual liberty, Apartheid, and the need for justice in the United States at a time when the American civil rights movement was ongoing. He emphasized inclusiveness and the importance of youth involvement in society. The speech shook up the political situation in South Africa and received praise in the media. It is often considered his greatest and most famous speech.

"The Day of Affirmation speech was a speech given by Senator Robert F. Kennedy to National Union of South African Students members at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, on June 6, 1966. In the speech Kennedy talked about individual liberty, apartheid, and the need for civil rights in the United States at a time when the American civil rights movement was ongoing."

Standing Rock VICTORY! Pipeline Stopped!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friday, September 9, 2016

Joint Statement from the Department of Justice, the Department of the Army and the Department of the Interior Regarding Standing Rock Sioux Tribe v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

The Department of Justice, the Department of the Army and the Department of the Interior issued the following statement regarding Standing Rock Sioux Tribe v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers:
“We appreciate the District Court’s opinion on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act.  However, important issues raised by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and other tribal nations and their members regarding the Dakota Access pipeline specifically, and pipeline-related decision-making generally, remain.  Therefore, the Department of the Army, the Department of Justice, and the Department of the Interior will take the following steps.

The Army will not authorize constructing the Dakota Access pipeline on Corps land bordering or under Lake Oahe until it can determine whether it will need to reconsider any of its previous decisions regarding the Lake Oahe site under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) or other federal laws.  Therefore, construction of the pipeline on Army Corps land bordering or under Lake Oahe will not go forward at this time.  The Army will move expeditiously to make this determination, as everyone involved — including the pipeline company and its workers — deserves a clear and timely resolution.  In the interim, we request that the pipeline company voluntarily pause all construction activity within 20 miles east or west of Lake Oahe.

“Furthermore, this case has highlighted the need for a serious discussion on whether there should be nationwide reform with respect to considering tribes’ views on these types of infrastructure projects.  Therefore, this fall, we will invite tribes to formal, government-to-government consultations on two questions:  (1) within the existing statutory framework, what should the federal government do to better ensure meaningful tribal input into infrastructure-related reviews and decisions and the protection of tribal lands, resources, and treaty rights; and (2) should new legislation be proposed to Congress to alter that statutory framework and promote those goals.

“Finally, we fully support the rights of all Americans to assemble and speak freely.  We urge everyone involved in protest or pipeline activities to adhere to the principles of nonviolence.  Of course, anyone who commits violent or destructive acts may face criminal sanctions from federal, tribal, state, or local authorities.  The Departments of Justice and the Interior will continue to deploy resources to North Dakota to help state, local, and tribal authorities, and the communities they serve, better communicate, defuse tensions, support peaceful protest, and maintain public safety.
“In recent days, we have seen thousands of demonstrators come together peacefully, with support from scores of sovereign tribal governments, to exercise their First Amendment rights and to voice heartfelt concerns about the environment and historic, sacred sites.  It is now incumbent on all of us to develop a path forward that serves the broadest public interest.”

Stand Together- Share Widely- Speak Up

https://tinawinterlik.blogspot.ca/2016/09/stand-together-share-widely-speak-up.html

The protestors were peaceful, the security guards used violence on the protestors.
https://tinawinterlik.blogspot.ca/2016/09/water-is-life-dog-bites-pepper-spray.html

The Standing Rock Sioux are the original inhabitants of what is now North Dakota, and we applaud this administration for recognizing their inalienable right to self-determination of their tribal homelands. While we are troubled this situation even reached this level of contention, we are grateful that it is now sparking meaningful conversations never held at this level of government – conversations that actually take into consideration the needs and wishes of tribes when it comes to infrastructure projects such as the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Indigenous Climate Activist Speaks to UN

If you watch just one video today, LET IT BE THIS ONE!!

"Just months ahead of the next Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which will take place in Paris, today's event has been convened in support to the process that will ultimately result in an agreement intended to succeed to the landmark Kyoto Protocol on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Only by acting now and standing together can we achieve the results we need in the time we have left. Only by acting now and standing together can we tip the scales and change the course of history.
Among the participants, Academy Award-winning actor and long-time conservationist Robert Redford, and 15-year-old indigenous climate activist Xiuhtezcatl Roske-Martinez, are expected to join the broad call for action to energize multilateral cooperation on climate change.

Raised in the Aztec tradition, Mr. Roske-Martinez is Youth Director of a non-profit organization called Earth Guardians"

I have been following this young man and he is a brave, eloquently spoken, highly intelligent young person with a great deep awareness of the world need right now.

We need action from EVERYONE and his speech clearly demonstrates this.

These other videos are very eye opening as well. He is a great leader of youth already and I believe he will rise to great power because of his wisdom and deep respect for the earth. He has been on his path since he was 6. Maybe he will be the president one day, if presidents exist.

Who know what will happen in the near future if things do not turn around. As the earth breaks down we could see many changes good and bad.

There have been many great ideas and videos, speeches and leaders but when will the change happen.

Earth Guardians

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know in my heart it will happen. I had a vision many years ago and I have to have faith it will happen. Will it happen in my lifetime is the question I have? Who is that old lady in my vision, is it me? my child? her child? What does the future hold...only the future knows. But I do know we can't just sit around wait for someone else to do it, we each have to do our part! WHAT IS YOUR PART?

Can we change the World? Where do we start? What can we accomplish? What is Urbanarium? And what does it have to do with Vancouver? These are some of the questions proposed here and a small collection of data to support it? Where it goes....we will find out...won't we....

World Peace Festival

Conflict is a necessary part of daily life, and we all have to deal with it. The skill lies in HOW we deal with it.

Tools for Peace contains the 'tried and trusted' methods used by wise, experienced people all over the world to transform the conflicts they face into opportunities.

These tools work just as effectively in our families and communities as they do in situations of extreme violence and civil war.

They also work within ourselves, which is where peace begins.

This is our Green World Campaign-produced screen content for our " Times Square ReGreen the World" text TREE Earth Day initiative.

It will be on 10 jumbo screens in Times Square this Friday, April 22, 2011 (including the building-sized NASDAQ and American Eagle screens) as part of Earth Day New York 2011, turning the urban environment into a virtual forest at regular intervals. This work supports the United Nations Year of Forests 2011.

PSA designed and donated by leading ad agency David & Goliath (L.A., Frankfurt, London) and Stockholm-based FilmTecknarna. Production was funded by a grant from the U.K.-based CBD Charitable Trust.

Technical coordination of this complex project will be overseen by Tal Yarden, a leading New York video designer and multimedia programmer.

An interactive "treemometer" created by leading game designer Greg Roach will display real-time updates of contributors, creating a unique "positive feedback loop" in public space.

Project partners include EarthWays Foundation, CauseCast, the One Spirit Learning Alliance, Culture Shock Marketing, the Streaming Museum, Iva Kaufmann & Associates, Greg Roach & Spirit Quest World and Imagination, Inc.
