#Rooting4Trees with Earth Day Canada

Deb Doncaster, President of Earth Day Canada, meets Chatterer the Red Squirrel to talk about the exciting new #Rooting4Trees campaign. The goal: to plant 25,000 trees in April (Earth Month) to celebrate Earth Day Canada's 25th anniversary! Deb tells Chatterer how to help by visiting http://www.EarthDay.ca to take part in a crowd-planting initiative - each donation, even just $10, will ensure more trees are planted AND you’ll get some awesome rewards, too! Yes, Chatterer, even better than acorns… See more about trees at http://www.chatterer.ca. Video created in partnership with http://www.Kidoons.com

Besides the restoration projects, the Earth Day Vancouver Celebration offers free nature tours guided by the Vancouver Natural History Society, a Native Plant sale, and roving performers including active-transportation hero Dustin the Purple Pirate and the irresistable Carnival Band
Everyone is invited to join artists from the Secret Lantern Society in the creation of an Earth Mandala, an ever-expanding circular artwork on the beach.

And of course, there will be dancing!

The Celebration features a high-energy live Earth Day Stage programmed by the VANCOUVER FOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL – a showcase of diverse entertainment for all ages, ranging from the spicy Bhangra-Celtic beats of Delhi to Dublin to the First Nations rhythms of Eagle Song Dancers to the funky dub groove of Folk Fest dancefloor faves Big Bass Theory.

The Earth Day Vancouver Celebration is produced by Evergreen: an innovative charity that builds relationship between nature, culture and community in urban spaces (www.evergreen.ca).
Community partners include: the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation and the Jericho Stewardship Group. Starbucks Coffee Company is the Presenting Sponsor and City of Vancouver offers additional support.
Earth Day Vancouver is chaired by world-renowned singer, author, and ecology advocate Raffi Cavoukian—founder of Child Honouring, a children-first paradigm for global restoration.

Raffi says, “Earth Day is an opportunity to recommit ourselves to creating a healthy world, a world fit for children.

Let’s start a Compassion Revolution—you’re all invited to Jericho Park to celebrate the power of local action to restore our Mother Earth.”

Raffi will launch the Earth Day Stage at 1 pm.
See you at Jericho Park...happy Earth Day!

Plan a Symposium for EARTH DAY 2011

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

This EARTH DAY, LET'S DO SOMETHING SUPER COOL & EXCITING!! Let's plan to host or attend a symposium. Here's how!

This is quoted from the Awakening the Dreamer Website
http://awakeningthedreamer.org/symposiums-unite-on-earth-day/

A Call to Action

Every April 22 for the last 40 years, individuals and organizations from around the world have been inspired to demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability by uniting to celebrate Earth Day.

So what is possible in YOUR community this Earth Day, 2011?

Plan a Symposium on Earth Day

Wouldn’t it be great if together we engaged over 5,000 people with the message of the Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream Symposium on the SAME day?

You are likely (hopefully), faced with many options on what to do, but if you are inspired to play a part in this vision, call on your fellow Facilitators and plan a Symposium now

And if you already have an event, consider using the attention of Earth Day to show the ATD-CTD Trailer and/or the Four Years Go video and encourage people to find a Symposium near them soon. You may just open doors for Symposiums to be delivered to groups you never thought you had access to!

Register your Earth Day Symposium

So let’s play! Register your Earth Day Symposium on our new mapping tool, so we can all see Symposiums that will take place all around the world on Earth Day.

You can also share a comment below about your Symposium to connect with Facilitators worldwide!

Thanks for all you do on Earth Day and EVERY day!
