 Today Canada lost a true broadcasting legend, Lloyd Robertson.

For generations of Canadians, Lloyd was the trusted voice that guided us through history. He represented the very best of journalism: calm, thoughtful, respectful, and deeply professional. He didn’t need drama or sensationalism—his strength was his steady presence and his ability to deliver even the most difficult news with compassion and clarity.

During some of the biggest moments in modern history, Canadians turned to Lloyd Robertson. His coverage of events like the moon landing, national tragedies, and especially the days following 9/11 showed the importance of having a journalist who could remain composed when the world felt uncertain.

He was more than a news anchor—he was a familiar face in Canadian homes for decades. He showed that trust is earned through integrity, preparation, and respect for the people watching.

And at the end of so many broadcasts, Canadians knew the words: “And that’s the kind of day it’s been.”
