Can You Handle the Truth?

Photography by Tina Winterlik aka Zipolita © 2016

Today I feel confused, I am supposed to go to something very special, Moms against KinderMorgan but I am nervous about the weather. I have been working on this blog post all morning. Today is supposed to be a very special day in that there is going to be a cosmic shift. What will happen today I don't know but I feel something, I think my kid is feeling it too, normally she's not really into going to these things but today when I mentioned whether we should just stay home...she questioned me...I think we all feel like this...the truth is sometimes so ugly or so hidden we don't want to see it.

So I send love and light out into the world and pray that this big beautiful moon will push us forward into a more socially and environmentally just world.

This mornings blogpost started when I watched this...and played out as you see it. I hope the message is clear.

It's not easy telling the truth and journalists are the first to take the heat. I am not inferring anyone is perfect and I really don't know that much about Mike Wallace other than I remembering watching something that he was the one who really let the people in the US know the atrocities they were doing to the Vietnamese people, setting huts on fire and such and putting that on TV. Until then people didn't know that shit was really happening. That was my understanding... if you read here he spread some terrible untruths but he did some good too...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Wallace

"His career as the lead reporter on 60 Minutes led to some run-ins with the people interviewed. While interviewing Louis Farrakhan, Wallace alleged that Nigeria is the most corrupt country in the world. Farrakhan immediately shot back, declaring "Nigeria didn't bomb Hiroshima or slaughter millions of Indians!" "Can you think of a more corrupt country?" asked Wallace. "I am living in one," said Farrakhan."

When will YOU speak UP?

Fire Truck For Calais

"When some of our crew drove down to asses the situation and see if lives were at risk, they immediately pinpointed a way in which Arcadia’s particular areas of knowledge might be of use. Within hours, a gigantic and all too familiar sound was heard –a gas explosion. Running toward the first plumes of smoke, a second gas bottle blew, shooting a terrifying fireball into the sky.  Away from the chaotic scenes on Calais's motorways and ports, the migrant camp known as the 'new Jungle' is growing fast and showing signs of becoming a permanent fixture. The Guardian spent three weeks following the lives of a few of its 3,000 residents, rare in-depth access that reveals a growing human cost of the crisis, and the challenges facing refugees and migrants trying to reach Britain

Migrants in the Channel Tunnel complex

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calais_jungle
The Calais jungle is the nickname given to a migrant encampment in the vicinity of Calais, France, where migrants live while they attempt to enter the United Kingdom.
The migrants, who frequently stow away on lorries, ferries, cars, or trains travelling through the Port of Calais or the Eurotunnel terminus, are a mixture of refugees, asylum seekers and economic migrants.

The "jungle" has no fixed location, with migrants setting up camp on unoccupied land and moving to new locations when camps are closed down by the French authorities, while others illegally occupy abandoned buildings. In April 2015, The Guardian reported that the "official" and principal "jungle" in Calais was located at a former landfill site, three miles from the centre of town, and occupied by 1,000 of the 6,000 migrants in Calais. According to the paper, it was one of nine camps then existing in Calais. This jungle for the first time had showers, electricity and toilets, plus one hot meal served per day, but without proper accommodation.[2]

I tell you love, sister, it's just a kiss away #Paris #Refugees #Syria #Love #War #The World

Oh, a storm is threat'ning
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Oh yeah, I'm gonna fade away

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Ooh, see the fire is sweepin'
Our very street today
Burns like a red coal carpet
Mad bull lost it's way

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

The floods is threat'ning
My very life today
Gimme, gimme shelter
Or I'm gonna fade away

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

I tell you love, sister, it's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
Kiss away, kiss away

Why Wear a Poppy- Remembrance Day 11:11

We often think of all the ones who went to war but all those who remained at home suffered greatly too.  Let's remember them all and send them love and light.
 #RemembranceDay
Let us remember, so it NEVER happens again.

 Why Wear a Poppy

"Please wear a poppy," the lady said,
And held one forth, but I shook my head.
Then I stopped and watched as she offered them there,
And her face was old and lined with care;

But beneath the scars the years had made
There remained a smile that refused to fade.
A boy came whistling down the street,
...Bouncing along on care-free feet.

His smile was full of joy and fun,
"Lady," said he, "may I have one?"
When she'd pinned it on, he turned to say;
"Why do we wear a poppy today?"

The lady smiled in her wistful way
And answered; "This is Remembrance Day.
And the poppy there is a symbol for
The gallant men who died in war.

And because they did, you and I are free -
That's why we wear a poppy, you see.
I had a boy about your size,
With golden hair and big blue eyes.

He loved to play and jump and shout,
Free as a bird, he would race about.
As the years went by, he learned and grew,
And became a man - as you will, too.

He was fine and strong, with a boyish smile,
But he'd seemed with us such a little while
When war broke out and he went away.
I still remember his face that day.

When he smiled at me and said, 'Goodbye,
I'll be back soon, Mum, please don't cry.'
But the war went on and he had to stay,
And all I could do was wait and pray.

His letters told of the awful fight
(I can see it still in my dreams at night),
With the tanks and guns and cruel barbed wire,
And the mines and bullets, the bombs and fire.

Till at last, at last, the war was won -
And that's why we wear a poppy, son."
The small boy turned as if to go,
Then said, "Thanks, lady, I'm glad to know.
That sure did sound like an awful fight
But your son - did he come back all right?"
A tear rolled down each faded cheek;
She shook her head, but didn't speak
I slunk away in a sort of shame,
And if you were me, you'd have done the same:

For our thanks, in giving, if oft delayed,
Though our freedom was bought - and thousands paid!
And so, when we see a poppy worn,
Let us reflect on the burden borne
By those who gave their very all
When asked to answer their country's call
That we at home in peace might live.
Then wear a poppy! Remember - and Give!

Life in the Jungle: Migrants Stories

It's difficult to see this and even harder to imagine living like this. This film gives a brief personal look  into these refugees and why they are risking their lives doing what they do.  I am praying for them all. This could be you or me! What would you do?
