Can You Handle the Truth?

Photography by Tina Winterlik aka Zipolita © 2016

Today I feel confused, I am supposed to go to something very special, Moms against KinderMorgan but I am nervous about the weather. I have been working on this blog post all morning. Today is supposed to be a very special day in that there is going to be a cosmic shift. What will happen today I don't know but I feel something, I think my kid is feeling it too, normally she's not really into going to these things but today when I mentioned whether we should just stay home...she questioned me...I think we all feel like this...the truth is sometimes so ugly or so hidden we don't want to see it.

So I send love and light out into the world and pray that this big beautiful moon will push us forward into a more socially and environmentally just world.

This mornings blogpost started when I watched this...and played out as you see it. I hope the message is clear.

It's not easy telling the truth and journalists are the first to take the heat. I am not inferring anyone is perfect and I really don't know that much about Mike Wallace other than I remembering watching something that he was the one who really let the people in the US know the atrocities they were doing to the Vietnamese people, setting huts on fire and such and putting that on TV. Until then people didn't know that shit was really happening. That was my understanding... if you read here he spread some terrible untruths but he did some good too...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Wallace

"His career as the lead reporter on 60 Minutes led to some run-ins with the people interviewed. While interviewing Louis Farrakhan, Wallace alleged that Nigeria is the most corrupt country in the world. Farrakhan immediately shot back, declaring "Nigeria didn't bomb Hiroshima or slaughter millions of Indians!" "Can you think of a more corrupt country?" asked Wallace. "I am living in one," said Farrakhan."

When will YOU speak UP?

Vigilantism & Suicide & A Message of Hope!

Even though I'm in Mexico I've been following the Amanda Todd story. It's shocking and heart-breaking and it makes a person angry and frustrated and saddened. Why?

Why is the question?
Why did that have to happen?
Why couldn't people back her up and support her before all this happened?
Why is it such a big deal for a girl to show her breasts?

Men show themselves, but our culture is still so in the dark ages. Even though women have the right to show themselves in public Canada, they don't because to the stigma and staring that goes with it.

Let's face it most men in the U.S. and Canada can not handle it. They are raised this way. It's the parents and society's fault. Indigeonous mother's in Africa and Brazil do not have this issue.

Mexican mom's breastfeed all the time and no one bats an eye.

But men in Canada and the U.S. you have some big issues.

From what  I read, was that this poor child of just 12, exploring sexuality, alone, normal...(but abnormal because nowadays computers are involved). made a mistake that 100's and thousands of other kids are making.

But it didn't stop there, she was then bullied for it, as well as stocked.

Why are girls and women so judgemental? Why are teenage girls so vicious to one another? Why are so many children dying from bullying?

Now there's an hactivist group Anonymous out there and they are doing some stocking of there own.

I have a lot of questions and not to many answers, just opinions.

I have an old memory of a show the Twilight Zone.

Do you remember that show, TWILIGHT ZONE?

Anyways this lady has been raped /or attacked and is terribly shaken.
Her husband asks her who was it, but she can't remember. They go to the doctor and she gets sent home. There's all sorts of bad feelings but she seems to be healing so they go out for a drive.

While out, the women panics when she sees a man, and says "There he is, THAT'S THE GUY!" The man says "Are you sure?" and she says "YES!" So the man gets out of the car and runs after the man.

Then he comes back all shaken and upset. She asks what's wrong. "Nothing, Nothing...let's go home!"
I think they go home or go eat...anyways at some point she looks out the window and shouts..."THERE, THAT'S THE MAN!!"

And the husband, looks terrified and sick because you know he did something bad to someone else...and it wasn't the right person.

So my message is that I was really thrilled to think that a hacktivist group  could bring someone to justice. Happy that Amanda may get some justice. But now hearing some things that someone may do something they regret because they don't have all the info and because they are running high on emotion and pain.
So please take care.

I'm praying for Amanda's family, and everyone who loved her, and everyone who hurt her, because you need help. I'm praying that the kids that thought and said terrible things to her and others, really stop and think if they are treating others as they wanted to be treated.

My question is Why? Why is that simple little rule so hard to follow. TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WISH TO BE TREATED!!

So simple. Please teach your children and remind yourself each and everyday. It's not hard and it will bring so much peace. Peace is what we all need, especially Amanda Todd and everyone who loved her.

R.I.P Amanda.

I also wanted to say is that I do not think the video should be shown in school. It needs to be shown by the parent to the child in a safe environment where the parent can really debrief and discuss deeply the personal issues that this video will bring out. The school is not the place.

Kelly MacNamara-Sullivan Community Supporter Passes Away

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Kelly was part of my family and he will be dearly missed. Please read this very nice article describing the wonderful things Kelly did. It's odd how you can know someone for over 25 years but if you only see them on holidays and family get togethers, well sometimes time is short and you don't really know all the great things that person did, you just know they are SPECIAL! We will miss his wonderful laugh and his casual laid back manner that made us all feel so at ease. He really was a very kind soul and will  be remembered. Our prayers to loved ones and all those touched by tragic loss.

Kelly loved kids and always made a big deal over Angel and made us feel special whenever we all got together.

Sullivan community supporter passes away

Surrey has lost an ardent defender of history, a tireless volunteer, and an amazing father and husband.

Kelly MacNamara, the soft-spoken community activist for Sullivan heritage, died Friday morning at home of what is believed to have been a heart attack.

He would have turned 50 on June 14.

He is survived by his daughters Christina and Riana and son Evan.

MacNamara was extremely active in the community, volunteering with the fire department, acting as barbecue chef at all Sullivan Elementary School events, coaching the Challenger baseball team in Walnut Grove and donating his time at The Centre for Child Development, to name a few.

Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, DBE (February 27, 1932 – March 23, 2011),[1][2] also known as Liz Taylor, was a British-born American actress.[3]

Beginning as a child star, as an adult she came to be known for her acting talent and beauty, and had a much publicised private life, including eight marriages and several near-death experiences.

Taylor was considered one of the great actresses of Hollywood's Golden Age.

The American Film Institute named Taylor seventh on its Female Legends list.

Lassie Come Home featured child star Roddy McDowall, with whom Taylor would share a lifelong friendship. Upon its release in 1943, the film received favourable attention for both McDowall and Taylor. On the basis for her performance in Lassie Come Home MGM signed Taylor to a conventional seven-year contract at $100 a week but increasing at regular intervals until it reached a hefty $750 during the seventh year.

Her first assignment under her new contract at MGM was a loan-out to 20th Century Fox for the character of Helen Burns in a film version of the Charlotte Bronte novel Jane Eyre (1944). During this period she also returned to England to appear in another Roddy McDowall picture for MGM, The White Cliffs of Dover (1944).

But it was Taylor's persistence in campaigning for the role of Velvet Brown in MGM's National Velvet that skyrocketed Taylor to stardom at the tender age of 12. Taylor's character, Velvet Brown, is a young girl who trains her beloved horse to win the Grand National. National Velvet, which also costarred beloved American favorite Mickey Rooney and English newcomer Angela Lansbury, became an overwhelming success upon its release in December 1944 and altered Taylor's life forever. Also, many of her back problems have been traced to when she hurt her back falling off a horse during the filming of National Velvet.

National Velvet grossed over US$4 million at the box office and Taylor was signed to a new long-term contract that raised her salary to $30,000 per year. To capitalize on the box office success of Velvet, Taylor was shoved into another animal opus, Courage of Lassie, in which a different dog named "Bill", cast as an Allied combatant in World War II, regularly outsmarts the Nazis, with Taylor going through another outdoors role.

The 1946 success of Courage of Lassie led to another contract drawn up for Taylor earning her $750 per week, her mother $250, as well as a $1,500 bonus. Her roles as Mary Skinner in a loan-out to Warner Brothers' Life With Father (1947), Cynthia Bishop in Cynthia (1947), Carol Pringle in A Date with Judy (1948) and Susan Prackett in Julia Misbehaves (1948) all proved to be successful.

Her reputation as a bankable adolescent star and nickname of "One-Shot Liz" (referring to her ability to shoot a scene in one take) promised her a full and bright career with Metro. Taylor's portrayal as Amy, in the American classic Little Women (1949) would prove to be her last adolescent role. In October 1948, she sailed aboard the RMS Queen Mary travelling to England where she would begin filming on Conspirator, in which she would play her first adult role.
