Dear Little One,

I don’t know your name. I don’t know where they took you from, or where they’re keeping you now. I don’t know if you're cold, or hungry, or if you’ve already started forgetting how to dream. But I feel you. And I want you to know something:

You are not invisible.

I see you.
We see you.
Even when the world closes its eyes, some of us keep looking—even when it breaks us.

I want to say I'm sorry.
Not because I hurt you directly—but because I didn't stop it.
Because we didn’t stop it.
Because we adults failed to build a world where you are safe just because you’re a child.

You should be chasing butterflies, not fearing footsteps.
You should be painting pictures, not staring at fences.
You should be sleeping in someone’s arms, not on a cold floor.
You should be held—not numbered.

And if no one has told you yet:
You matter.
You are not trash. You are not a burden. You are not broken.

The people who did this to you?
They are the ones lost.
They forgot how to be human.
They lost the thread of kindness.
And now they hide behind policies and borders and lies—because it’s easier than admitting they’re afraid of children who remind them what they’ve lost.

I don't have much power. I don’t have money. I don’t have armies or offices.
But I have words. I have stories. I have my voice.
And with all of that, I say this:

You are loved. You are sacred. You belong to the Earth, and the sky, and the stars—no cage can take that from you.

If you are old enough to understand this letter, hold on.
If you are too young, I hope someone who loves you reads it to you someday.

Until then, I light a candle for you.
I whisper to the wind.
I smoke pot just to breathe.
I try to stay alive long enough to tell your story—to help others remember the children.

And one day, I hope this world is soft enough for you to grow in.
You deserve that. More than anyone.

As a Canadian, I just want to say how incredibly proud I am to witness people across the United States standing up, speaking out, and showing up in the face of so much fear and uncertainty. From state to state, city to city — the courage, the creativity, the solidarity — it’s deeply moving.

But I’m also scared. I see the abuse. I see the intimidation, the threats, the manipulation of laws meant to protect twisted into tools of oppression. I see the fear in people’s eyes — but I also see the fire.

You’re standing up for truth, for democracy, for each other. You’re pushing back against cruelty with compassion, against corruption with clarity. And even though I’m across the border, I feel it. Many of us do. We’re watching. We care.

Your bravery reminds us all of what’s at stake and what’s worth fighting for. Please stay safe. Keep documenting. Keep organizing. Keep resisting. The world is watching, and many of us are with you — heart, mind, and soul.

They want footage they can twist.
They want to paint you as the problem.
Don’t let them.

Your power is in your truth.
Your strength is in your numbers.
Your victory will come from your discipline.

We know it’s hard.
We’ve seen reports of MAGA extremists trying to intimidate protesters — driving into crowds, flashing weapons, even targeting journalists.
We’ve seen threats to elected officials and Trump attempting to use military force against peaceful people.

This isn’t leadership. It’s desperation.
And desperate people lash out when they feel power slipping through their fingers.

📽️ They want another January 6th. Don’t give it to them.

We all remember what happened then.
We remember the violence.
We remember who stormed the Capitol and who stood silent — or cheered.

We also remember the peaceful marches, the unity, the art, the resistance that inspired the world.

That’s what wins. That’s what lasts.

📅 June 14th is coming. Make it count.

Nationwide protests are planned. Let the numbers speak. Let your voices rise in peace, power, and purpose.

Let them see millions standing strong — and staying calm.

Yesterday, I watched the horrifying footage out of Los Angeles — ICE agents in military gear storming workplaces, detaining people at Home Depot, dragging individuals into vans, while terrified families looked on.

Then came the protests. Brave people took to the streets — chanting, crying, demanding justice. And the response? Tear gas. Riot police. Flash bangs. Arrests. The president of SEIU California, David Huerta, was among those detained.

It looked like history repeating itself. And it felt impossible to ignore.

But today, I woke up and looked around Canada — and heard… almost nothing.

Where are our leaders? Where are the journalists? Where are the artists, writers, academics, and human rights groups we pride ourselves on having? Why are Canadian voices — especially those in power — so quiet about something so cruel happening just across the border?

This Is Not Just a U.S. Problem

We like to think we’re different. Kinder. More progressive. But that’s an illusion.

• We detain refugees in provincial jails.
• We deport people to danger.
• We quietly profit from the same global systems of displacement and inequality.
• And many of us still view people crossing borders out of desperation as "others" — not as neighbours, not as fellow humans.

If we ignore what's happening in the U.S., we normalize it. And we allow those same practices to take root and grow here.

The Silence Is Deafening — And Dangerous

We see Canadian politicians rushing to comment on elections, celebrity gossip, and TikTok regulations — but where are they now? Where is the statement condemning ICE’s military-style raids? Where is the solidarity for families being torn apart?

The mainstream media is barely reporting on it. There are no national headlines. No prime-time interviews. No mass mobilizations. It's like people are afraid to speak — or don’t think it matters.

But it does matter.

It matters because when we stay silent, we’re telling vulnerable people that they are alone. That their suffering isn’t important enough. That their humanity is up for debate.

So Here I Am — Speaking Up

I’m just one person. A Canadian artist, mother, writer. But I can’t sit quietly while people are terrorized and arrested for daring to exist.

I’m calling on:

• Canadian politicians to issue statements of support for those resisting ICE.
• Canadian media to cover these events with the urgency and humanity they deserve.
• Canadian human rights organizations to stand in visible solidarity.
• Fellow artists, creators, educators, and citizens to speak out.

We can’t call ourselves allies, feminists, environmentalists, or progressives if we only show up when it's easy or trendy. Solidarity must be uncomfortable. It must be active.

What Can You Do?

• Share what’s happening. Use your voice and platform, however big or small.
• Write to your MP and demand they speak out.
• Donate to migrant justice groups on both sides of the border.
• Talk to your friends and communities about this. Don’t let it fade.

Because if we ignore this now, we’re helping build a future where human rights don’t mean anything at all.

I won’t look away. And neither should you.

 Message to Every Hockey Player on the Ice:

What happened in the recent Canada vs. USA game is not just a moment in a sports rivalry. It's a reminder that every action on that ice has a ripple effect—especially on young, up-and-coming players who watch and learn from you.

For those kids waking up at 5 am to hit the rink before school, you are their heroes. They see your passion, your toughness, your drive to win. But they also see the fights, the hostility, and the anger. What message are we sending when we let the competition turn into a spectacle of hatred?

We must remember that every player on that ice is a role model. You have the power to inspire greatness—not just through skill, but through how you carry yourselves. Respect for the game, for each other, and for the fans who support you is essential.

Young players look up to you. They imitate you. So think about the example you’re setting, not just for the moment, but for the next generation of athletes. The little ones who dream of following in your footsteps deserve better than to see hate on the ice. Let’s be better. Let’s show them what true sportsmanship looks like.

We can be fierce competitors without crossing the line. Let’s honor the game. Let’s play with integrity. For the fans. For the kids. For the future of the sport we love.
