The Incredibly Gifted Ron Hedrick- Artist- "Colorist"- Oil Painter

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

So last week I had the wonderful fortune of meeting Ron Hedrick while he was taking some photos for a painting that he has been commissioned to do. Please see my other blogpost on this topic. http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com/2011/08/encounter-with-ron-hedrick-artist-so.html

It was just such a wonderful event. As I had been riding around Stanley Park,we had just left Lumberman's Arch and gone past Siwash Rock and I was saying prayers of Gratitude for the beauty of the moment. Breathing in the fresh FRESH air, that gorgeous green soft forest scent and the saltiness of the ocean and WOW I was high on life and blissing out in the magic of it all. Then we stopped and really I think a miracle happened. I was rewarded with a wonderful gift. I met Ron Hedrick.

An Encounter with Ron Hedrick- The Artist- So Exciting

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Something Super Cool happened last week. I was riding around Stanley Park and we stopped to take a rest at one of the beaches. I was so surprised to see this family all dressed in these pretty summery clothes, and I grabbed my camera. I couldn't believe my good fortune.

Photo by Tina Winterlik © 2011

I noticed there was a photographer and I just casually took photos from afar. Then I had to go see what my child was up to, so I was following her on the beach. I saw the moms changing the little girls dress and I asked the photographer if he was shooting for a store. "No, " he replied "I'm an artist and I take the photographs to paint them later!"

"Really!" I said excitedly "I'm a photographer and artist too, but not like this! You mean you make big oil paintings right!" he said "Yes!" "Oh," I replied "I would love to do that, I have always wanted to, I can paint watercolours but I can't do faces." I asked him his name and he told me Ron Hedrick http://rhedrick.com/ . I asked if I could have a card and as soon as I got home I googled him.
Photo by Tina Winterlik © 2011
Well you can imagine how impressed I was. I just LOVE his paintings and he's an instructor as well and well my mind just started racing. I am a fabulous daydreamer and I was having all sorts of wild ideas about how I could help him with Social Media and he could help me learn how to paint and maybe teach Angel how to paint and WOW, let me tell you it was a fantastic feeling.

Photo by Tina Winterlik © 2011

Anyways, I quickly put all the photos into PhotoShop and played with them for a bit, then put them into a video and put it on Youtube and then sent off an email asking for permission from him and the family to use the photos in the video and on my blog, and asking to do a blogpost on him.

And so here below are the photos I took and the video I made. I think they turned out really well and if you saw them really enlarged you would see the effects more clearly.

Now the fun part will be to get the materials and actually try to paint them. I believe in myself, I believe I can paint these or similar ones. I did a couple of murals on Angel's bedroom walls and they turned out quite nice. The only oil painting I did was in high school, nearly 30 years ago now...I did a dabble with an acrylic a little while ago, but was not impressed ...so we will see, but I am super excited to try.

Do You Need a Family Portrait? Or a Video with beautiful Photos of your family?

This experience really inspired me to focus on doing Family Portraits again. It's been a while but if your interested please don't hesitate to contact me.

Want a Woodland House?

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Watched part of something called Aftermath  on TV last night. Not a pretty thought. http://www.history.ca/video/default.aspx?releasePID=DJeyc9qP1DhSdWbNZ92xZfWCfEYBMB1n

I only saw the end, they were talking about Over Population and it was scary and sad and WOW, If we think we have problems now...

Anyways, Sundays for some reason get me off on these super deep subjects and I don't want to be too heavy first thing this morning, so let's keep it light, and think about this lovely little cottage and how we can lighten our footprint on Dear Old Mother Earth.

A low impact Woodland House
Check out the videos below, Simon is very wise and I love what he says.

You are looking at pictures of a house I built for our family in Wales. It was built by myself and my father in law with help from passers by and visiting friends. 4 months after starting we were moved in and cosy. I estimate 1000-1500 man hours and £3000 put in to this point. Not really so much in house buying terms (roughly £60/sq m excluding labour). Read More Here

Need some Kitchen Threadz for a Fancy Cocktail Party?

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

This is so cute and this lady is brilliant. I saw this and went...why didn't I think of that, which is how all fabulous ideas strike one. I have never been one to have parties, dinner or cocktail, but for those of you that are throwing a fancy party this would be so cute. She has lots of other styles too, so check them out.

Kitchen Threadz

@kitchenthreadz_ Jax Beach, Fla
Kitchen Threadz 1-of-a-kind haute aprons will have U mincing and swaying in delight in the kitchen or as a trend setting hostess.Elevate your cooking experience
This lady is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, so check out her story. http://kitchenthreadz.com/about.php

First, mentally discard every dowdy-Dora association that occurs when the word “apron” is mentioned. Replace them with visions of beads and bows, feathers, lace, silk and satin, and with Kitchen Threadz, a business begun two years ago by UT alumna Annette Anderson and already on the radar of saucy kitchenistas from Australia to Paris to Santa Fe.Anderson  just  put the finishing touches on a hand-crafted apron for one of the stars of Real Housewives of New YorkCity.

It’s easy to say that an entrepreneur like Anderson has come a long way since she was a UT education major, but in her case it’s the literal truth. “I’ve been fortunate in that I’ve been able to reinvent myself several times,” she says. Business-suited AT&T employee, marketing startup owner — she did both before reducing her possessions to what she could carry in a backpack, preparatory to hitchhiking around the world.

She spent two years living in a small hut on the rural Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica, without electricity and running water. “I was clearing my mind at that point after deciding that corporate America wasn’t for me. I wanted to live a Zen sort of life,” she says. “One of the things I learned out there was that my wants and my needs were confused, that I really needed very little. I met many poor people — really poor — who were happier than those who had a lot.” Read more here

Watch -"The Truth about Spring"- Truly a Classic

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

The Truth about Spring

Omg, what a GREAT MOVIE! I had never seen all of it, just one part a friend always showed me. But we got a copy and watched it last night! It's so great. Beautiful scenery, it's filmed way back in 1964, I was 2. The colours and well just everything about it is really special. The story is truly a classic, dealing with all the awkward things, but what I love is how the dad has raised her by himself. What's even more cool that is Haley Mills actual dad in the film John Mills. You definitely need to watch this movie. Truly a Classic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Truth_About_Spring

 From Wikipedia-
Spring lives with her father aboard a run down sail boat in the Caribbean. She has lived a simple and isolated life and has never felt desire or love until Ashton joins in them for a zany adventure involving buried treasure. In the end no treasure is found, only a long sunken slaver. However, Spring does find love and a husband.

Ashton comes aboard the Sarah Tyler for some fishing and ends up in a modern day pirates adventure. He comes from a wealthy Philadelphia family and had graduated from Harvard Law School. He falls in love with Spring and envies her simple and honest lifestyle. At the beginning of the film Spring takes a dislike to Ashton - a variation of Pride and Prejudice where boy meets girl and girl hates boy. At the end of the film she realizes she is in love and against all sense of propriety, Ashton asks Spring for her hand.

For Immediate Release
Seaside Summer Celebration of Life, Music and Meditation
Vancouver chapter of YES!+ youth invites you to join in celebrating summer complete with acoustic music, meditation and vegetarian potluck.

Vancouver BC (August 9, 2011) - On Friday August 12, 2011 the Vancouver chapter of YES!+ Canada volunteers have organized a free, blissful and beautiful evening by the beach to celebrate the beauty of summer and life. All are invited to bring their smiles, any musical instruments, blankets, and a vegetarian dish to share in the potluck at English Bay by the ring sculpture on Beach Avenue and Nicola Street, Vancouver at 6:30 pm.

With the success of their recent Stress Free, Violence Free mini flash mob in June, YES!+ wants to keep the momentum of their message of peace, love and joy going throughout the summer. The evening will start with a soothing guided group meditation at 6:30 pm sharp, and the evening will progress with acoustic music, singing and dancing with ancient healing Sanskrit chanting.

Traditionally these gatherings are known as Satsang, coming from the Sanskrit words Sat meaning “True” and Sanga meaning “Company” where individuals would have a spiritual gathering to celebrate, meditate and share knowledge with other like minded individuals. All are invited to bring their friends and family and if possible, a vegetarian dish to share at this blissful drug and alcohol free evening to share joy and peace through music and meditation. For more information please visit the event ”Summer Celebration by the Beach” on Facebook.

Rioting Still Going On- London- Meditate for Peace

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Here is a very interesting quote from the New York Times

As Rioting Widens, Cameron Deploys 10,000 More Police:  http://nyti.ms/nJRIUQ
"... the rioting raised new questions about the political sustainability of the Cameron government’s spending cuts, particularly the deep cutbacks in social programs. These have hit the country’s poor especially hard, including large numbers of the minority youths who have been at the forefront of the unrest."

and I believe it's applicable here in BC in some ways as Gordon Campbell did the same thing. I pray that we don't ever see tragic events like this it's so scary.  We had one night of rioting and I was traumatized I can't imagine what the people in England are going thru. I am so sorry for all of you.

Saying prayers for everyone over there (especially in Nottingham where I have family), they are talking of cutting off the blackberries and possibly using rubber bullets. So much terrible negative energy. We need to collectively pray for peace.

Once again I share these videos and ask you to please watch them and share them, we have to power to create positive energy and events. We Can Do This!! Let's take time to Meditate for Peace!

Peace It Together

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

So I was at the pool yesterday and I met 2 lovely young ladies and one was a producer and filmmaker and the other was had a writing background, and she told me she was involved in Peace It Together. I don't remember all the details as it was just a casual afternoon conversation. I remember the one girl was from Israel and the other had be recently in Dubai, but I'm not sure where she came from orignally, possibly Kuwait, I think I heard.

They were very sweet loving girls, I knew this from there generousity and the kindness they showed both me and my daughter. We had a really nice little encounter. I was very interested in them and told them I would google the program they talked about and here it is http://www.peaceittogether.com

I love the internet for the power it has of bringing us together. I may never see those girls again, or on the otherhand somehow by visiting the website and watching these films we may connect thru Facebook or Twitter. That part is pretty amazing because it was not so long ago ...it would have just been a conversation...no real follow up until we possibly met up again, but who knows what the chances of that are ..slim..

Anyways here is one the films. Check it out!
It's called Hacked-  A famous writer and his family enjoy a simple and happy life, but something is not right.

http://www.peaceittogether.com/who-we-are/history
Peace it Together (formerly known as the "Creative Peace Network") formed in January 2004 as more than 50 Arab, Muslim, Jewish and other Canadian volunteers gathered in Vancouver to plan the first “Peace it Together” summer program.

The three-week camp incorporated arts, team-building and dialogue exercises, outdoor adventures and creative exploration to enable Palestinian, Israeli and local teenagers to befriend each other, learn new communication and listening skills, challenge their previously held stereotypes, and develop compassion for their “enemy.”  Read More Here

Gorgeous Day but Summer is nearly Over

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Yay! Thank God for another Gorgeous day! We had the last night of the fireworks and well now it feels like summer is almost over. It's just that all thru winter we look forward to the following:

Cherry Blossums
Children's Folk Festival,
The pool Opening
My child's birthday & party
Eating lots of berries(raspberries, strawberries, blueberries) and black bing cherries that are in season
Enjoying all the beautiful flowers and lavender
The Fireworks
The PNE

Once we do PNE well then that's it, summer is over. Whhhhhhhhhhhha!!
and this year we have had such a crappy spring and summer with so many gray days, that it really feels like we didn't have much of a summer. Thankfully today is beautiful, and I hope it continues, because it's hard to get thru a dull, grey, cold, wet winter,...when you haven't had enough sunshine in the spring and summer.

Here's hoping for an Indian Summer! Have a great day everyone!

Happy International Beer Day Everyone #IntlBeerDay

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL BEER DAY ;D I'm not much of a drinker, or for that matter a beer drinker, I prefer to have a glass of red wine, but in Mexico, as a treat on a hot afternoon, I would read my borrowed book and have a Corona. I remember it so well. Waves crashing on the beach, the hot wind blowing a lovely breeze as I was sitting at my little table, in just my bathing suit because it was too darn hot for anything else, Angel playing nearby and I would read and have a nice cold Corona with lime and some spicy peanuts the lady from therestaurant made.  Yum!! Missing Mexico! Can't wait to go back.

Ahhhh...Corona!!! My Fave!
