Dreaming South: Oaxaca, Claudia Sheinbaum, and the Rise of a New Power
By Zipolita
Not so long ago, the Canadian dollar was strong. I remember being able to travel to Mexico and feel free—free to move, to live, to create. These days, the loonie feels heavy. And while I know it’s not all about money, let’s be real: a stronger dollar would make reconnecting with my family and friends in Oaxaca a whole lot easier.
But lately, I’ve been hearing whispers—hopes, really—from my friends and adopted family in Oaxaca. They're talking about Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico’s new president. The first woman, the first scientist, the first leader of Jewish heritage to take the seat of power in a land rich with ancient stories and spiritual resilience.
Some are saying it’s a sign—maybe even a prophecy—that the South is rising.
A Different Kind of Power
What if Mexico, Central America, and South America could unite—not under a banner of conquest or capitalism—but under shared values?
What if the nations long dismissed as "developing" were actually reclaiming their own way—healing the land, embracing sovereignty, honoring Indigenous leadership, and forging a future that isn’t dictated by Wall Street or Washington?
I see it. I feel it. I dream of it.
Imagine a supercontinent of solidarity—where food is grown with care, not chemicals. Where trade is fair. Where solar panels light up schools in remote jungle villages. Where Spanish, Portuguese, Nahuatl, Quechua, and Mixtec are all spoken with pride. Where water is sacred, not bottled.
A Feminine Future
Claudia isn’t just a political figure—she represents a shift. A rebalancing. She brings science and soul, facts and feeling. Maybe she is the beginning of a movement led by women, Indigenous voices, artists, farmers, and young people with paint-stained hands.
And maybe, just maybe, Canada could learn from that. Maybe instead of clinging to systems that aren’t working, we look South for inspiration. For hope. For reconnection.
Oaxaca Is Calling
My heart beats louder every time I think of returning to Oaxaca. To sit with my family, to photograph the colors, to breathe in the mountain air and remember what really matters. This dream—of unity, of strength, of rebirth—isn’t just about borders or leaders.
It’s about us.
So, let’s keep dreaming. And let’s keep planting.
The prophecy isn’t about one person—it’s about all of us.
I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be an Oligarch’s puppet. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or control anyone. I’d like to help everyone if possible—human beings are meant to live in harmony, not in servitude.
We, the people, have the power. Not corporations, not billionaires, not the elite who hoard wealth while the rest struggle. We have been tricked into thinking our voices don’t matter, that our clicks, our dollars, our choices are insignificant. But today, that changes.
We will not be slaves to convenience. We will not feed the machine that exploits workers, destroys communities, and crushes small businesses. We will no longer enrich those who see us as nothing more than consumers to be manipulated.
We are the Digital Warriors. Armed with truth, connection, and the refusal to comply with their game, we dismantle their power, not with violence, but with choices. Today, we reject Amazon, we reject Target, we reject Tesla. We refuse to be cogs in their machine.
Their greed has destroyed the forests, poisoned the waters, and left countless people in poverty. Their algorithms manipulate us, their policies silence us, their wealth blinds them. But no empire is invincible. No monopoly is eternal.
Today, we reclaim our world.
Canada will never be the 51st state. We will not be absorbed into their chaos, their corruption, their culture of endless war and profit over people. We stand independent, strong, and united. We are not for sale.
February 28 marks the turning point. This is the day we stop waiting for someone else to fix it. This is the day we take our power back.
We will build our own platforms. Support local. Create communities that care for each other. Value labor, fairness, and dignity. The digital landscape is ours to reclaim.
Oligarchs fear an informed, united people. They want us divided, distracted, desperate. But we see through the lies. We will not be silenced.
The future is not theirs to dictate. It is ours to shape.
Stand up. Speak out. Unplug from their control. The world changes today.
Innocent Protectors of the land & war Attacked by Security with vicious dogs and pepper spray at the Sacred Stone Camp. I call upon the United Nations and everyone with the power to do the Right thing and to STOP the Violence and Respect the Indigenous Peoples and Restore their land, their water and their rights.

Share this video to expose the crisis in beautiful North Dakota!
Welcome to North Dakota, the US's second biggest oil exporter. The scenic landscape, flowing rivers, lush forests, local wildlife and communities here are, once again, threatened by corporate greed. Tribes and activists from across the country are coming together to protect the Missouri River from future pipeline bursts.
It is estimated there's over 300 oil leaks per year in North Dakota alone, and more than 170 of those incidents come from pipeline leaks. Many leaks go unreported, unknown even, and when companies report leaks to the local government there isn't any public notice. The state of North Dakota takes approximately 2.5 years just to clean up 20,000 gallons of oil meaning most messes are left uncleaned and more and more damage is being done both to the environment and to local communities. This effects everyone, we must take a stand and protect our land today. Water is life, water is our connection to everything!

"I
want to express my pride in what we have accomplished together over the
last year. But so much more must be done to make our vision a reality.
Now more than ever our country needs our movement — our political
revolution. As you have throughout this historic campaign, I ask for
your ongoing support as we continue through the fall and beyond."

"Currently, this government is trying to pass many laws so that reserve
lands can also be bought and sold by big companies to get profit from
resources. They are promising to share this time…Why would these
promises be different from past promises? We will be left with nothing
but poisoned water, land and air. This is an attempt to take away
sovereignty and the inherent right to land and resources from First
Nations peoples.
There are many examples of other countries moving towards
sustainability, and we must demand sustainable development as well. We
believe in healthy, just, equitable and sustainable communities and have
a vision and plan of how to build them.
Please join us in creating this vision."

In the aftermath of a bloody confrontation between her band, the Innu tribe, and the Inuits, the “Men from the Land of Ice”, MAΓNA, daughter of Grand Chief Mishte-Napeu, finds herself on a mission that will change the course of her life. In order to fulfill a promise made to her friend Matsii as she lay on her deathbed, MAΓNA has to follow the trail of her enemies to retrieve Nipki, Matsii’s 11-year-old son who has been captured by the Inuits. She is taken captive herself by Natak, the Inuit clan’s leader, and forced to travel with them to the Land of Ice.
Taking place before contact with Europeans, MAINA introduces us to two fascinating civilizations that founded America.
"A prayer flag is a colorful rectangular cloth, often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas. They are used to bless the surrounding countryside and for other purposes. Prayer flags are believed to have originated with Bon.[1] In Bon, shamanisticBonpo used primary-colored plain flags in healing ceremonies in Nepal. They are unknown in other branches of Buddhism.[2] Traditional prayer flags include woodblock-printed text and images."

There's nowhere in the world that I would rather be
Than with you my love
And there's nothing in the world that I would rather see
Than your smile my love
For united we stand
Divided we fall
And if our backs should ever be against the wall
We'll be together, together, you and I
For united we stand
Divided we fall
And if our backs should ever be against the wall
We'll be together, together, you and I
And if the world about you falls apart my love
Then I'll still be here
And if the going gets too hard along the way
Just you call, I'll hear

I find the numbers here odd as this is exactly my age.
I was born in 1962. I was born in the Age of Aquarius and apparently great things are supposed to happen..so let's make it happen.
"Even though the Age of Aquarius has been highly popularized,
few actually know much about it. Some assume that it began many years
ago, while others believe that it has yet to begin. Samael
Aun Weor, the founder of the Gnostic movement, tells us that the Age
of Aquarius began on February 4, 1962. On that day there occurred a very
interesting astronomical (and astrological) event. The planets Mercury,
Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, along with the sun, the earth, and the
moon, were all found in the constellation of Aquarius. In addition, a
solar and lunar eclipse occurred which was visible in some parts of the
Old World. The cosmic event that transpired on that day is extremely rare.
Such a congregation of planets occurs only once every 2160 years, moving
from one constellation to the next. Each time it happens it marks the
beginning of a new era, or New Age, for humanity. February 4, 1962 marked
the end of the Age of Pisces and the beginning of the Age of Aquarius."
We need to share Bernie's speeches so everyone hears the truth and make
an informed decision. We have a responsibility to speak up. Do what you
can. Make sure you share or show people the videos. Do your part. Don't
just say ....well I'm a Canadian, I can't vote, it's not my problem.
It is your
problem. Because what happens there DOES affect us and the world. You
can enlighten someone and that person may be the vote that makes the
difference. Please do your part. We HAVE the RIGHT to SPEAKUP!! Please
do it. http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.ca/…/when-will-you-speak-up.h…
Remember when Stephen Harper wouldn't let Elizabeth May in the debates. He did it because he was really afraid of her. It is because she speaks the truth.
And you know the news and mainstream media is rigged...they only cover certain things. But it's waking up NOW!!
So here's a few more points that I want to make. Since 2011 the way we receive info has drastically changed. With mobile taking off the format we create, share and receive affects us. Many people aren't sitting at the computer anymore. They are on there phones or Ipads, so we need to consider that. People just like to check facts and things that are helpful to them, they want it fast. Also and I was saying this to my daughter...it's sort of weird when you think about IOS and Android- or Apple vs Samsung- the price difference.
I never use Instagram because it's a hassle for me to take and upload photos. I would rather just do that on my computer. I think for Mac/Apple/Iphone users it's easier but it's almost a class thing. Rich vs Poor. If you are going to reach out to the masses, deliver the info in the easiest way for your target audience to receive it. Does that make sense. I went to a meeting for Google last week, they are taking off all the side ads, why? because people on phones don't see them.
So how can all this be applied to Climate Change and saving our beautiful earth and our families from the destructive forces of fossil fuels?
How can we get the masses to chose the people that can make the changes?
How can we make our voice heard?
How can these "grassroots" voices unite and create GREAT SOCIAL CHANGES FOR THE GOOD!
We CAN DO IT with Social Media and applying the Rock Candy Revolution principles but focusing on who the target audience is and how they receive their info and how to get it to them in the fastest, easiest best way possible. I always remember Rebecca Coleman saying social media levels the playing field- we can all play- NOT just the BIG CORPS, BIG PHARMA, BIG OIL!!
So I am asking all the grassroots movements to consider the above and to apply it and take action.
A grassroots movement (often referenced in the context of a political movement)
as defined by Webster's Third International Dictionary, is one which
uses the people in a given district as the basis for a political or
economic movement.[1]
Grassroots movements and organizations utilize collective action from
the local level to affect change at the local, regional, national, or
international level. Grassroots movements are associated with bottom-up,
rather than top-down decision making, and are sometimes considered more
natural or spontaneous than more traditional power structures. [2]
Grassroots movements utilize a variety of strategies from fundraising
and registering voters, to simply encouraging political conversation.
Goals of specific movements vary, but the movements are consistent in
their focus on increasing mass participation in politics.[3]
The truth is Bernie can't do it by himself, anymore than I can #SaveMyCoast by myself or that Trudeau or Obama can do it by themselves. WE MUST TELL THEM WHAT WE WANT and organize everyone and unite and make ourselves heard. We MUST WORK TOGETHER and take action against the evils of the world. For parents especially we need to take action if our children are to have a life.
As Leo DiCaprio said," CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL!!" IT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!
So if you care about your family, your life and all the amazing beautiful this rich planet Mother Earth has to offer, take action, join a group, talk to your friends, go to a protest, unite, VOTE, SPEAK UP!!
But what ever action you take AND what ever your cause, be it climate change, poverty, women equality, indigenous rights, ....SPEAK UP AND DO IT NOW, because later...will be TOO LATE!!
If you are scared or just APATHETIC and CHOSE NOT TO ACT, then one day Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Corporations will come into your life and do this. And you may think well that's Ecuador and it's their problem but I have been watching Ecuador for 20 years, when I first read about the struggles of Indigenous people and along with many other people, they have tried very to achieve their rights with the oil companies but it is NOT HAPPENING!!
So the last point I want to make I will tell you a little story.
My friend and I were out walking one day and he was about to step off the curb, without looking, just because the light turned green. I grabbed his shirt and pulled him back just as a car when through the light.
It was scary. We realized in that moment I may have saved his life and we joked about it nervously. And he jokingly said "It's okay, they got insurance." Meaning that he thought well if I get hit, I would get a bunch of money...ha! ha!
But the reality is it wouldn't matter if he got $$$$$$$$$$$$$ in a settlement, IF HE WAS ON LIFE SUPPORT, he really would not be able to enjoy his life to the fullest as he had before the accident.
So think about this, and think carefully, it doesn't matter all the laws we make and all the right politicians we elect, IF we DON'T take ACTION now and start looking for and applying solutions such as CLEAN ENERGY (and not some bs idea from an oil company or LNG or Christy Clark) and figure out how to FEED ourselves and our neighbours LOCALLY and WITHOUT GMO'S and skyrocketing BIG BOX GROCERY STORE prices, if we don't embrace a more natural way of living (Holistic/Elders/First Nations/Traditional Healing )WITHOUT BIG PHARMA, if we don't implement BASIC INCOME and FREE EDUCATION, then the 1% WILL WIN
There are lots of ways to get involved, just do SOMETHING!
Do it for your kids, your family, your friends, your grandkids, your dog, your cat, the polar bears, tigers, oceans, rivers, forest, do it for your future, do it because it is the right thing to do and you KNOW IT!!
Well we defeated a dictator but we have lot of work to do.
Canada is a mess and facing terrible issues from Climate Change, Dirty Pipelines and Tankers, Fracking and LNG, Poverty, Missing &; Murdered Women.
All this must stop.
We can make Canada a better place. We can do it, the info is available. We can do it but we have to work together.
It's going to take all of us. Songs are great for uniting.
If you care about Canada and your kids than make a stand.
Make a video, a song, a painting but do SOMETHING and do it fast if we are going to turn Canada in to the Gorgeous Green Country it was about 200 years ago or even 30 years ago...or even 15 years ago.
Check out the other videos, there are some really great ones. Stephen Harper is gone but he left a TERRIBLE MESS. We need to get it cleaned up and that means to get rid of Christy Clark and her LNG LIES and STOP THE PIPELINE! NO TANKERS!!
Can you make one?
If you care about these issues make a video and share it. If we are to clean up the messes Stephen Harper left behind we are going to have to unite and take on the challenges together.
Songs are one of the best ways but you can write a poem, book, paint, dance but do something to bring attention to the issues at hand.
Stop the Pipelines! Stop the TarSands! Stop the LNG! Stop Christy Clark's Corruption!
Please, to all the people who created these videos, rise to the challenge
again. Create songs in protest again what is happening in Canada right
now in regards to the Tarsands, Pipelines, and LNG plants. United we defeated a dictator, now we must rise to the challenge again. Do something...don't just sit there...every little bit helps...
