Largest Climate Mobilisation in History
We did it! This weekend’s Global Climate March broke records as the largest climate mobilisation in history! This is the movement our world has been waiting for.
From São Paulo, to Sana’a, to Sydney, over 785,000 of us marched at 2,300 events in 175 countries united in one voice calling for a 100% clean energy future to save everything we love.

So I been gathering bits and pieces of my costume that I want to wear at the #ClimateMarch and my friend goes, "What do you want to do all that for?" and I said "Well, for me it's fun and it's very important!" and he just looks at me and shakes his head like I'm cRaZy and you know what, I think that's what a lot of people are doing sadly. And I am going to straighten you out RIGHT HERE AND RIGHT NOW.
For those of you in Vancouver, Surrey, Sechelt, Vancouver Island, the Kootenays, the Okanagan, anyone who was stuck in their home because smoke from the forest fires was so acrid it burned your eyes and your throat. In the morning we woke to that strange Martian Orange/Red glow. Do you remember. It was awful. I hated it!!
So while you think it might be more fun to go ride your bike, jog the seawall, kayak on the water, go for a boat ride, just a minute there sonny boy because maybe next year or the year after we might not be able to go outside and enjoy it the way we love because the fires and pollution will be all that more common or there will be flooding from the rising sea levels, where are you going to go for your beach walk when it's under water.

One that took hours to even discover the scale of it and the other small but still right in the marina where we all walk to Granville Island. The stench from the oil was cause for the City of Vancouver to block off the area and warn people to stay away from beaches while specially trained crews came to remove it. "As a test of strength," said the Sun, "Let us see which of us can take the coat off of that man."
"It will be quite simple for me to force him to remove his coat," bragged the Wind.
The Wind blew so hard, the birds clung to the trees. The world was
filled with dust and leaves. But the harder the wind blew down the
road, the tighter the shivering man clung to his coat.
Then, the Sun came out from behind a cloud. Sun warmed the air and the
frosty ground. The man on the road unbuttoned his coat.
The sun grew slowly brighter and brighter.
Soon the man felt so hot, he took off his coat and sat down in a shady spot.

It is the intended goal of IEN to influence the climate
negotiations for the explicit purposes of achieving four core demands
from the COP21:
Establish a mandatory and legally-binding agreement to cut carbon emissions at the source.
Keep Fossil Fuels in the Ground by establishing moratoriums on future fossil fuel developments.
Recognize, respect, and observe the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in the climate agreement text.
Reject false solutions, which are market-based mechanisms to address climate change and support Just Transition economies.
As a means to accomplish this goal,
IEN will be performing a series of cultural demonstrations and public
events throughout Paris to raise awareness of critical issues affecting
frontline communities. Some of which are as follows:

A critical component of the IEN
delegation is the emphasis on Indigenous women and youth leadership. The
Indigenous Environmental Network is one of the founding signatories of
theIndigenous
Women of the North and South – Defend Mother Earth Treaty Compact 2015.
This historic document will be presented at a press event on December
6th, 2015. IEN will also be bringing 13 Lummi youth from the Puget Sound
area of the United States to encourage in-depth participation by our
future leaders and generations.

We are in a historic moment wherein world leaders will continue drafting
a new global treaty agreement on climate change this year in Lima at
the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference on
Parties (COP). The final agreement is then expected to be signed in
2015 at the COP 21 in Paris.
"Justin Trudeau broke a campaign promise on Tuesday. And it might be
the smartest decision his fledgling government makes in the next four
years.
By acknowledging his government won't meet its deadline of resettling
25,000 Syrian refugees in Canada before the end of the year, the prime
minister acknowledged that the ISIS-sponsored attacks in Paris this
month have heightened Canadians' concerns about security.
"This is a government that promised transparency and evidence-based
decision-making," he said. "If the extension of six to eight weeks gives
Canadians more confidence in the process, that's a good thing."
Details of revised plan
Under the revised plan, Canada will identify the 25,000 refugees it
plans to resettle by Dec. 31, with 10,000 of those now slated to arrive
in Canada by the end of the year. The rest will arrive by the end of
February 2016
If

PS IT IS CRITICAL
TO SORT AND LABEL YOUR DONATION. I just heard that it helps if all
toiletries are in ziploc bags, and if other stuff is bagged or boxed by
type (ie "women's adult clothes" etc.) to aid volunteers at the other
end.

I love Cyndi Lauper, We are actually the same age. :D I used to try and dress like her, my hair was cut like hers (sort of... ;) I had her tapes and listened to them all the time, we would go out dancing and listen to her music.
Her wonderful fabulous powerful music that imprinted me and spoke to me so profoundly. It spoke of love and understanding, it had elements of protest and outrage but was soft and sweet.

Everyday I'm on here blogging, trying to keep people informed, trying to show them the big picture and it's hard. My butt gets frigging sore and I get so stiff, as I get up from the computer sometimes after being on "way to long" I limp like an bend over old lady....and "Yawnnnn!" and Str....e..t..ch....and say another day..."Saving the World!" and my kid and my friend laugh and tell me to come eat some dinner.
But that's how I feel lately, for quite a while, this last year and well for many years...it's up to me...I have some special job. Maybe that's quite presumptuous of me, thinking that I'm so special, I must inform you, but I think of it as everyone is SO BUSY and when they come home, they might turn on the news and it's so ONE sided so I try to enlighten with many messages and hope you can form informed opinions.And that's my job. Besides painting, caring for my family, myself and creating new little art projects ALL THE TIME!
I was only focusing on #SaveOurCoast and well we were all distracted with getting Harper OUT before he TOTALLY destroyed the Canada we "thought" we knew and loved...
I say thought because with the release of the Truth and Reconciliation records we know that some people in parts of Canada were very very evil indeed and it caused all sorts of pain and suffering.
People had no rights, children taken forcibly by the government, it in itself was a war, a war on children and families. Some survived but many didn't and we will never know.
One thing is that its the Indigenous peoples around the world that are the ones that see the big picture and are warning us because the ones that actually live off the land and in harmony with the earth, they are the ones MOST VULNERABLE and AFFECTED by #ClimateChange.
This OIL thing is huge but we have solutions, we can find the alternatives....we can use the sun, it's the obvious choice. Well the point is don't sit on your butt!! DO SOMETHING!! Sadly the 4 years this video projected have come and gone...DON'T LET IT BE TO LATE!
If you don't like the gas prices, if your groceries are too high, if you boss pays you minimum wage and you can NOT support your family because rent is so high, if you can never own a home because they cost $1 million, if you farm is dying and you move to the city but there's no work, if your food is full of GMO's, your coast could be destroyed but Oil Spills, your water could be or is polluted by tailings pond from mining or fracking...THEN UNITE NOW!!! UNITE FOR PEACE! UNITE FOR #ClimateJustice and #SocialJustice. DEMAND THIS! DEMAND DEMOCRACY!
And this is your chance to let the WORLD LEADERS that we mean BUSINESS!!Fossil Fuels are dead. People must DIVEST from Fossil Fuels or we will all be dead. IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!
SO GET READY TO MARCH!! MAKE BANNERS, PUPPPETS, PEACE PRAYER FLAGS, do what you can to make this a fun, exciting expression of POSITIVE LOVE AND ENERGY that shows the #COP21 that people demand justice!!
Do it for EVERYONE in #Paris that had been working SO HARD to organize the march and now they are not allowed. Do it for them and for us and the children of the world, of the future....the next seven generations
What would be cool is if we had lots of stiltwalkers, they make it all so exciting...I wish Angel had stilts...anyways some wonderful signs you can make with your kids. This is a GREAT teachable moment where you can get your kids involved and take them to this event. It will be fun but it will have a huge message and it will imprint them for life.
