"Last year Philips ran a contest called Parallel Lines in which they asked people to create a three-minute short film using only six lines of dialogue: “What is that?”, “It’s a unicorn”, “Never seen one up close before”, “Beautiful”, “Get away, get away”, and “I’m sorry”. After more than 600 entries were submitted, director Ridley Scott selected the above film, titled “Porcelain Unicorn”, as the winner."

PROOF of the POWER of Positive Thought!!

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

My dear American Friends, I hear there's some scary shit happening right now with your debt and it is going to affect everyone but one thing I would like to say is "STAY POSITIVE!" and the next thing is "Be Grateful!" What I mean is and I mean this for everyone...

For a couple of days now,  I have been trying not to stress. I have been down this road many times before, but lately I have been trying something different. In the mornings as I awoke, it was not that happy, Yay! What a gorgeous day...instead it has been gray and I have felt a little sad, and listless and worried...for a moment, then I remember and say to myself...It is a Beautiful Day! Thank you for...(and I begin to list all the things I am thankful for.) As I said I have done this for a few days now...and today I really had confirmation or you could call it a sign that my Positive Thoughts had been answered!.

Obviously the reason I am telling you this is that I have been worrying about money, the lack of and how to get more, worrying about the price of groceries, how everything is going up and how so many people need help and just lots of things...but I did my best to push those worries way way down and on top I piled Thank Yous!

It worked, I received something today that helped me, it was not really what I had prayed for or wished for or thought about but in an indirect way it addressed my problems and dissolved my worries for the moment.

It was not HUGE, but it was ENOUGH!

At the same time proved to me how powerful this method is. So in this time of restlessness and stress, do not do it, as much as the worries are nagging you...instead take a few moments in the morning as soon as you open your eyes and say...

It is a Beautiful Day. I am going to have the best day ever. Thank you God for my life, for my child, for my family, for my friends, for all the people who love me, for having food to eat, for having shelter, for having water to drink, for clean air...and on and on...then ask for guidance and say I will have enough for everything, I will have enough food, enough to pay the bills, enough to do the things I need to do. Everything is going to be fine.

In my prayer I said money is coming, everything is going to be okay and it did. Not alot but enough to help out for the moment. And that is what it is all about right. Living in this moment...because that is all we can do right.

Worrying and stressing will solve nothing, in fact it will only create more negative energy. Imagine the big black clouds of bad energy coming from all the stressed out people in the US right now. What if we could all think positive thoughts, and would that ever be aweome if we COULD channel it into something fabulous and wonderful.

So could you do me a favor, could you please try my little exercise. Teach it to your kids and BELIEVE! Believe in the Power of Positive Thought! Believe that there are higher powers that will help if you ask and are open and Believe.

It sure can not hurt now can it.

I have posted this video many times, but I am going to post it again. The power of positive thinking is SO POWERFUL! Check these videos out.

Fundraising for Famine

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

So I posted a photo of one of my paintings last week.
 http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com/2011/07/painting-for-hungry-1.html

I also posted these blogposts trying to raise the awareness.

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com/2011/07/in-arms-of-angel.html
http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com/2011/07/11-million-hungry-what-are-you-going-to.html

Below are two articles. One is an excellent eye opener for the realities of what is happening there, the other is from the Government of Canada stating the help they are giving.

Here is how you and I can help. If you buy one of my paintings and I give away half to a registered charity, the government will match that. Or you could donate directly or set up your own fundraising campaign. See below.

Donating and fundraising criteria

People sitting on dry ground © UN Photo/Albert Gonzalez Farran

For every dollar Canadians contribute to registered Canadian charities responding to the East Africa drought, the Government of Canada will set aside one dollar for the East Africa Drought Relief Fund.

There is no limit on the amount of funds that are available through this program from the Government of Canada.

To be counted for this purpose, donations must comply with all of the conditions below. A donation must be
  • made by an individual Canadian;
  • monetary, not exceeding $100,000 per individual;
  • made to a registered Canadian charity that is receiving donations in response to the drought in East Africa;
  • specifically earmarked by such organizations for the purpose of responding to the drought; and
  • made between July 6 and September 16, 2011.
Both tax-receipted and non tax-receipted donations are eligible to be counted towards the size of the relief fund.

The requirement that donations be made by September 16, 2011, is to ensure that CIDA's matching contribution to the relief fund can in turn be mobilized quickly to respond to immediate needs in East Africa.

So what do you say! Do you want to help me so we can help them?? Or what are YOU going to do?

Possible Future Contest Winners will be Announced Soon!

My Dream House

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Here is my dream house. It's in this charming little town in New Denver B.C. I have always wanted to live in New Denver since about 1992 when I won a  bursary from a lady that lived there. I forget her name now, but it was so sweet, her husband  & her had some land and they had arranged to have the money from it turned into a bursary.

I won $500 and it sure helped. I wish I could remember her name, I keep thinking Nellie, or Cybil, ...anyways, thank you!

I had wrote that lady a letter and she said I should come visit. But I never actually made it there til years later in 1996 or 97 I think. I think I went briefly, but in 1997 is when I actually rented a room and really checked the town out for a couple of days.  It was lovely. Just like I imagined it.

Here's a few pics from back then

So lately I have been looking for my dream home and praying and projecting where I would like to live. Last night for fun, I googled New Denver and this is what came up.

http://www.openrealestate.ca/british-columbia/new-denver/

New Denver Dream House

New Denver Dream House

My dream house has everything, 3 bedrooms, it's small, has a lovely garden, a little workshop/cottage that would make an awesome studio and apothecary. It's just 2 blocks from the beach and well it's perfect!

I emailed the owner and Rob was very kind and I suggested I post this to help promote it. Maybe by paying it forward, something similar will happen for me.

So now I just need to win the lottery, just a small one, to cover the house ....wouldn't that be lovely. Miracles do happen. Just need to stay positive, pray and project. Will you do me a favor, pray and project for me too! Thank you!!

Now I see they've totally redesigned the new Beetle and they are going to start pumping them out in Pueblo. Check it out!!

What Should Barbie's Green House look like?

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

So the American Institute of Architects created a contest to create Barbie's Dream house. This is pretty cool because my little girl just got some new Barbies, actually 2 new Ken Dolls to go with her many Barbies. This was a good thing as she said all the Barbie's were fighting over the one lone(Malibu) Ken doll, and he was married to Malibu Barbie!  So now there's 3 Ken Dolls, well one is now James, ...  :)

This is so funny, because we actually did  a little fashion shoot with them all last night, and I am making it into a little video, I'll show you later. Until then check this out these houses.

Some are pretty cool. I like the smaller ones, of course, because that's much "greener" and more sustainable.

11 MILLION HUNGRY- What Are YOU Going to Do?

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

11 MILLION HUNGRY- What Are YOU Going to Do?
The word ironic keeps coming up. We had a really nice little celebration yesterday. Friends and family gathered, there was cake and song, and lots of fun. But isn't it ironic, on the other side of the world, people are starving. What can I DO? I ask myself. I really want to do something, but seriously things are so tight, I am having a difficult time. This fall things are hopefully all coming together as some opportunities are opening up for me, and then I can do more, but right now...what CAN I DO?

I can Blog! I can shove this in your face and make you think, WHAT CAN YOU DO? I know it's so hard in the states right now. I keep hearing about the terrible struggles people are having, about homelessness and debt and how the government is cutting medicare and other social programs. I have heard and seen the terrible things happening in Greece and Europe.

In Canada, here in Vancouver went thru some terrible cuts a while back and I see the homeless people here and know the struggles of many.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

History repeats itself. My mom passed away four years ago, but I learned so much from her. She grew up in very hard times. She was born in 1930 and lived thru some of the hardest years of the Great Depression. I remember her telling me, there was no food in the house and they had to go to the neighbours to get some bread. Scary times.

Do you remember Farm Aid, Band Aid, and Live Aid. Live Aid happened in 1985 to help Famine Relief in Ethopia.

Well Lady Gaga and some other people better get their butts in gear and help the people in Africa.

Let's do a Live Aid- Online, get people to donate!!! Do a Week Marathon or something CraZy & BiZaRre. Full of peoples favourite stars.

Prince William and Kate were just here and I hope they are listening and will do there part. All you Movie Stars and TV stars making millions per show...WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO???

It won't happen by itself, we have to make it happen.
It's going to take a Rock Candy Revolution

I remember talking to my mom about the people starving in Africa, she said there having always been starving people in Africa. There were starving people when she was little and they were as an adult. WHY?

Why can't we feed everyone? Is is all Global Warming, is it War, Corruption, lack of compassion, what is it, that some people are SO RICH, and some SO POOR!

So I am asking you, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? I don't want to have the same conversation with my little girl, that I had with my mom. So let's do something.

I'm blogging, maybe I'll make a video, write some letters, tweet it, sign a petition...make a donation from the little we have...but we HAVE TO DO SOMETHING, and we have to do it NOW!!!

Please Share this!!! We Can & Must Do Something about this!!
