Tedtalks Day 2- Edward Snowden & lots more

So it was the amazing Tedtalk. I arrived just before 8:30 am at the Vancouver Public Library. There were only 3 people there when I first arrived but then more arrived..slowly.

The first person was
Bran Ferren-Technology designer  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bran_Ferren
I found his speech very interesting, as he talked about being a young child and being raised by artists. Yet he didn't want to be one, instead he found taking things apart and putting them back together much more interesting. Reminds me of my brother, he was always taking clocks and things apart. Anyways, when Bran Ferren was a child they would travel and often just take him to a science museum and drop him off and let him wander and learn and explore for hours. When he was nine they went to the Pantheon   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantheon,_Rome.

He said he was intrigued by this wonderously cool dark building with a hole in the roof. It is called an oculus. As his eyes adjusted to the light, he started to see more and more, like the holes in the floor to the let the water drain when it rains...but it was the roof that amazed him. He questioned his  father  when the roof was built. He was shocked to learn that people were so intelligent 2000 years before. He being just nine years of age had been to the Pyramids the year before and he figured that with money, and brute force and labourers available, even he could build the pyramids, but this roof blew him away.

"The Pantheon dome. The concrete for the coffered dome was poured in moulds, probably mounted on temporary scaffolding. The oculus is the main source of natural light." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantheon,_Rome

He said it took 5 miracles to build this roof, and he went into a lot of detail...which I am too tired to share at this moment but it was really interesting. He figures that  Autonomous http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_car
are the future and gave reasons why. I'm not sure I like the idea. I don't want any cars. It feels to IRobot to me.

I think the most important thing I took away is that we have to teach our kids to get off the screens and learn about the world around them and to teach the to explore, play, discover and that even they if the do not want to be like us, embrace them and support them in what ever they chose.  Powerful wise words.

So next was -Marc Kushner-Architect-http://hwkn.com/MARC-KUSHNER
"MARC KUSHNER, AIA, is cofounder of award-winning architecture firm HollwichKushner (HWKN) and CEO of Architizer.com - the largest platform for architecture online. Both as a practicing architect, and in his role at Architizer, Marc is focused on making architecture more relevant and accessible."

Check out his website- Very Cool!!
You can tweet him on twitter https://twitter.com/marchitizer

Now he is a very interesting man. He talked about how social media has really affected how architecture is created.

He talks about the brutal era http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brutalist_architecture   and how everything was cement. The coolest thing he showed was this building he called ugly. It was created with hay and then cement was poured on it and then a cow was invited to eat all the hay and what was left was this little cave with the most gorgeous view of a sunset in Spain.

Guggenheim-Bilbao

 He talked about the http://www.guggenheim.org/bilbao
and how somehow people seeing it and sharing it shaped and changed the way architecture is built.

That because it created tourism, every mayor wanted one...but the point he was making it was architects know how to create incredible works but that people would stick to old ideas because it's expensive and they were scared to try new things.

He wants every one to know that architects want to build fantastic buildings and they are ready and now with Social Media we are ready. So hopefully he and many others will build lots of green buildings. :)  Like the green buildings I pinned on my Pinterest board- The Changerz.

http://www.pinterest.com/zipolita/the-changerz/

  • Yoruba Richen - desaturate
    Yoruba Richen Documentary filmmaker
"In her documentary films, Yoruba Richen unites African-American, feminist and LGBTQ voices in a renewed cry for civil rights for all."

Yoruba was very interesting. She talked about the civil rights movement and the gay rights movement. How they were moving in tandem and pointed out the really important events that helped progress things but then where it had major set backs too.  She mentioned Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela but pointed important  dates when Gay Rights had made strides with the help of  Latinos/Africa Americans and how they have worked together in the past and they need to be united...because these Human Rights - http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/

She made a movie about it  called the newblack http://www.newblackfilm.com/filmmakers/

"The New Black is a documentary that tells the story of how the African-American community is grappling with the gay rights issue in light of the recent gay marriage movement and the fight over civil rights. The film documents activists, families and clergy on both sides of the campaign to legalize gay marriage and examines homophobia in the black community’s institutional pillar—the black church and reveals the Christian right wing’s strategy of exploiting this phenomenon in order to pursue an anti-gay political agenda."

"The New Black is a documentary

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And this happened, they said Edward Snowden was there, and I was like "no way!!" And he came out on a bot. Blew me away. If you care about your rights, if you care about the internet then listen up because this affects ALL OF US!!

"Appearing by telepresence robot, Edward Snowden speaks at TED2014 about surveillance and Internet freedom. The right to data privacy, he suggests, is not a partisan issue, but requires a fundamental rethink of the role of the internet in our lives — and the laws that protect it. "Your rights matter,” he say, "because you never know when you're going to need them." Chris Anderson interviews, with special guest Tim Berners-Lee".

So Blessed We Saw Tedtalks Tonight!!

WOW!!  WOW!!  WOW!!
Feeling so blessed right now!! We just got home from Tedtalks. If you didn't know, Tedtalks has moved to Vancouver. And WOW do they have an exciting lineup.   http://conferences.ted.com/TED2014/program/vancouver.php

Tonight was amazing!
I just loved how it all came together for us. I had a long day as it was, I had class in the morning, then came home and Angel wanted to go for a walk in the sun, so we did that and picked up some milk and then came home and I took a little nap. So glad...I did that...Anyways at 5 we left and walked downtown. I figured the Vancouver Library would be full and had packed a blanket and some food and thought if worse comes to worse we will watch it on the Jumbotron at the Terry Fox Memorial outside BC Place Stadium.

We arrived 10 minutes before the show and by fluke or more like high powers at work, there were seats left and they were at the front but on the side. That's right we got front row seats.

So we were really blessed and go to watch it all inside on a nice big screen with no one in front of us, because I'm a shorty and it's hard for me to see sometimes.

It was really inspirational and impressive. It was a little long for Angel...but she did really well.

We had really gone to watch  Chris Hadfield and he Rocked!! Of course he sang his "Space Oddity" by David Bowie

  • Chris Hadfield - desaturate
    Chris Hadfield Astronaut

Tweeting (and covering Bowie) from the International Space Station last year, Colonel Chris Hadfield reminded the world how much we love space.

It started with Kevin Olusola - Cellist and beatboxer- WOW!! talk about beautiful music. To get a taste of his music...check this out

  • Nicholas Negroponte - desaturate
    Nicholas Negroponte -Tech visionary
The founder of the MIT Media Lab, Nicholas Negroponte pushed the edge of the information revolution as an inventor, thinker and angel investor. He's the driving force behind One Laptop per Child, building computers for children in the developing world.

    Then Ziauddin Yousafzai- https://twitter.com/ziauddiny

Ziauddin Yousafzai is the father of Malala Yousafzai, a young woman who protested against the Taliban for the education rights of children, especially for Pakistani girls. Wikipedia

He is an AMAZING MAN, but so is his daughter. She is the BRILLIANT, BRAVE AND TALENTED Malala. I am sure you heard about Malala http://malalafund.org/

She was shot in the face by the Taliban. Her father had raised her to speak out and the Taliban tried to stop it by killing her but she survived. Her father spoke of how he had raised her in a very different way, and not what had been the traditional.

He had changed the rules and taught the boys not to follow the honor rules and the girls not to follow the obedience. It was very interesting and I hope you can hear him speak and her also because they are very eloquent and it's a very emotional moving story that we can all learn from.

Chris Hadfield had asked us..."What's the scariest thing you've done?"  Well Malala father told how when everything was falling apart, schools being shut down and destroyed, the woman forced to cover up and wear veils and NO ONE was saying anything. NO ONE was speaking up...he said that was the scariest thing of all. That is a powerful message for all of us...we must not be apathetic. WE MUST SPEAK UP!!!

Malala was not there but we saw a video message...and she told all the girls...they, we can be anything we want, do anything we want, believe in ourselves, always keep the faith, everything will be okay. She's truly an angel and so are her parents for raising such a wise brave child.

    Author=Chris Hakkens

And then there was Mark Ronson- Music Producer and DJ   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Ronson and he talked about how sampled music had been messed with thru out the years, how he had been a big fan of Duran Duran, which made me laugh, but the were all the rage when I was in my teens, my little sister was a much bigger fan than me, I was into the Stones, Bowie, Fleetwood Mac. But he talked about how this one tune had been resampled 500+ and how the Academy awards doesn't recognized resampled music. He worked with  Amy Winehouse

He was really funny, and real. He goofed up his speech a bit but he was really funny and I could so relate as we've done a lot of presentations in our program and it's a very difficult thing to get up in front of people and talk for 15 or 20 minutes. But he did great.

So yes, we went, we did it and now I want to go again. So wish me luck and if I can , I will be writing more blog posts this week about Tedtalks and all the wonderful things I have learned and how they inspired and enlightened me...and best of all it's free...for me anyways...the way it should be.

I feel it's so important to go. Why should the wealthy be so entitled. Why let them get the edge. No way...I am going to get in that and get that info and only time will tell what AMAZING things I will do with that knowledge and who I can help.

Okay I have to go to bed. Cheers, my dears.

Who is Dependent on Welfare

Most people have pretty strong opinions about welfare/social assistance. Watch this informative video that may open your minds or help give you info to enlighten others. :D

It is time for America to reconsider who is dependent on welfare. Poverty is not only the lack of income and wealth but also the poverty of power. A key part of the poverty of power is to be defined as dependent: dependent on charity, handouts, welfare. Yet, it is the wealthy, not the poor, who are dependent on government subsidies. To transform dependency into self-determination is the work of poor people's movements. To demonstrate the dependency of the wealthy on welfare as well as on the labor of the poor must be our collective work.

The #GlobalPOV Project is a program of the Global Poverty and Practice (GPP) Minor. Based at the Blum Center for Developing Economies, University of California, Berkeley, the GPP Minor creates new ways of thinking about poverty, inequality and undertaking poverty action.

Gibsons is a lovely little town. I remember hearing about Gibsons at least 40 years ago as I grew up watching Beachcombers on CBC. A couple of years ago, Angel and I made a day trip out there looking for a new place to live. I've also visited on a boating trip. This is really sad news that anyone would even consider such an atrocity. Let's help out and get the message out there that this project is not appropriate. Keep Gibsons the way it is, BEAUTIFUL!!

Help Harry Manx Get His Beloved Friend (Guitar) Back- Chicago!!

So sad, Help Harry get his guitar back. Saying a prayer Veena finds her way home!!

PLEASE SHARE WIDELY!!!

Beloved friends, with a heavy heart I want to tell you all
that this morning at Chicago Ohara airport, while I was on
my way to retrieving my luggage, someone stole
my beloved Mohan Veena (pictured to the left of me).

Security cameras showed a man pick it up and walk out.

I've had that Veena more than 20years. There's hardly been a day that I haven't played it. I feel as though I've lost a good friend. I need everyone's help to find it. If you know someone in Chicago, tell them about it.

Maybe it will surface on Craigs list or E-bay. Maybe in a music store or Pawn shop. There's no missing it. The Veena is in a Black Fibreglass Case with lots of stickers.

And the Veena has 20 Strings, 2 layers of strings running parallel. It has tuning heads right down the neck. No other instrument looks like this.

I'm grateful for any help. thanks Harry

Zipolita'z Creative Workz

Well I got a treat for you tonight. It's late and I've got to get to bed, I have class tomorrow. We are all working hard on creating our Portfolios, building our Wordpress Websites and designing our Mobile Apps. You can imagine are brains are on overtime.

I was messing with my blogs last week and I tried that dynamic view but the sites too to long to load when I tried to post so I am back to a cleaner, leaner style.

As a reward for your patience and to show off my talents a bit I made this video of my Creative Works. I hope you enjoy it, it's a collection of my photography, oil paintings, watercolours and digital imaging as wrapped up in a little video I made. Enjoy, Goodnight and Sweet Dreams!

Prayers for Ukraine

As the horrors of the Ukraine spread across the news, social media is asked to help spread the word. I was just watching the 3 Amigos Summit,  and Stephen Harper actually said something that I respected and that was the following:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/harper-obama-speak-at-three-amigos-summit-1.2543468
"During their meeting, Harper and Obama discussed and strongly condemned the violence taking place on the streets of Ukraine, agreeing that the Ukrainian government is responsible for protecting its people and upholding the universal right to freedom of expression.

They also agreed that the military should be showing restraint, and should refrain from becoming involved in issues that should be resolved by civilians. Both resolved to work closely with European allies on options for additional measures."

From the internet I found this video

Social Media has been called upon to spread the word and help. This link shares images from  Twitter. Be prepared for graphic images but these are real people, these could be your parents, grandparents, looking at them makes me turn and gasp and cry out ..."how horrible, why...???". It will shock you but make you feel the impact more than the filtered images on the news.

http://www.cbc.ca/newsblogs/yourcommunity/2014/02/face-of-ukraine-maidan-protesters-stories-told-on-social-media.html

Please now I ask you to watch the video above and to say prayers and think positive peaceful thoughts that this horrible situation can be resolved and there will be peace.

Please God send in the angels...many many angels.

And I think it is a good time to watch and share this video "A Message of Hope" once again. Let there be hope!

Indiegogo and a year in Bali Dream

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2014

So today was Valentines and I am feeling very happy at the moment but I was really disappointed and sad early.

It should have been the HAPPIEST day, but for Angel it sucked...BiG TiMe!! Let me explain.

Last night we made the chocolate cupcakes for the party they were having at school today. Remember Angel has been homeschooled mostly. Except for kindergarten, half of grade 4 and now. And the great thing about that is that she really wasn't exposed to the meanesss of kids. If you know what I mean. Empathy is seriously lacking out there people. And if you have a kid I hope you will seriously examine their behaviour and yours and figure out where you stand in all this.

Like I said, it should have been the best day. Last night we baked chocolate cupcakes. Angel diligently hand drew and made each Valentines Card for all 27 kids in her class.

We figured out what she would wear, they were having a party and I said why not wear the dress I bought you. We had scored and got it for $11. But she hadn't worn it at Christmas or New Years and I said wear it because you will grow out of it before you get to. So then we decided to make a little top hat...similar to Alice in Alice in Wonderland we were thinking. So we figured that out and it turned out great!!

So in the morning, I got her dressed and off she went with the cupcakes, she was nervous, but I said she looked beautiful and I prayed she have the best day ever...

But when I picked her up from school ...it wasn't the best day ever...she said that 3 kids in her class had been rude to her and that one boy in the grade 7's pointed at her during assembly and then all the grade 7's laughed...which humiliated her.

Her teacher sorted out the kids in her class and they had to write notes of apologies... but still...this has damaged her...she said she never wants to dress up for Valentines again :(.

Darn you haters... why...why did you do that to my little angel.

I was mad and sad when she told me. I told her "haters going to hate but lovers going to love". But the damage has been done. School sucks. It makes me mad that I put her in the system for her to be trampled by mean kids that have no empathy.  I told her...let's quit. I'll pull you out right now...but she said no...she loves her teacher.

Still it makes me want to go a different route. I don't want these kinds of things to keep crushing her beautiful spirit.

One day they had a sub and she didn't know Angel had been homeschooled and had never gone up to write on the blackboard. Angel volunteered and as some point made a small mistake and all the kids started shouting behind her and she burst into tears...and sat down. Now she says she will never do that again.

What to do...what to do..I had an idea...I saw this thing a while ago for a school in Bali. A green school.  http://www.greenschool.org/ I would like to take Angel there for a year. I think I want to do something radical and start a Indiegogo campaign and see if we can raise money to go. Would you support us?

I'm almost finished my course...so hopefully I can work from there..on my computer...I don't know how much money we'd need but I know we are very good at budgeting and those of you that have followed on our Adventurez in Mexico know we could provide you will lots of tips, photos, videos and entertainment if we went. http://adventurezinmexico.blogspot.ca/
http://adventurezinmexico2008.blogspot.ca/

Anyways...that's my plan. What do you think? She such a talented and smart person, would you help us so that she can blossom to the full potential that she can be. Check out this...she made these.

Buddy, can you spare a dime..

I’m Dying But This Project Doesn’t Have To…

Over the past several years I’ve led a small social profit organization working on PreShow, a software application which will radically improve the process of creating live shows. I’ve also been undergoing treatment for a terminal form of prostate cancer. While I’ve benefited from many new therapies, the reality is, I’m now running out of options.
While it’s clear I need to pass the torch on the leadership of our group, all of us remain committed to launching PreShow.
Ironically, just as my final deadline approaches, our software is hitting its stride. PreShow is now available as a live BETA application at gopreshow.com, and has just received approval for a substantial Canada Media Fund (CMF) investment. To unlock these CMF funds, and to launch PreShow, we must raise matching funds of $59,000.
Our KickStarter funding goal is therefore $59,000. Please help us with a contribution by clicking one of the pledge levels on the right of this page. Your contribution to this campaign will give this project life

Just an update, my friend of the friend has promised to shave her beautiful hair off if they can raise $8000 in the next 6 days!!

A friend just shared a great article on Blogging, I have homework to do and can't read it all right now but there's some great take aways and here are 10.

"How to Become a Rockstar Blogger and Monetize your Passion

In three words: follow your bliss"  https://medium.com/personal-brand/d5e0a3c3b7a4

Rockstar bloggers chase their passions, not dollars.
Rockstar bloggers believe in themselves.
Rockstar bloggers play the long-term game.
Rockstar bloggers embrace failure as a part of the game.
Rockstar bloggers are interested in others more than in themselves.
Rockstar bloggers are very hard workers.
Rockstar bloggers respond to every tweet and comment.
Rockstar bloggers are relationship builders.
Rockstar bloggers are empirical.
Rockstar bloggers constantly read, learn, test and experiment.

I can answer yes to almost all, I am not sure what empirical means.

For example this weekend I just remodeled 3 of my blogs, and added a old blog that I renamed and updated...

Blogging isn't a get rich quick scheme, if that happens for you, God Bless and all the power to you.

For me it's about sharing...whether it photos, art, info and it's definitely hard work and I never quit, I may take a break or step out for a bit but for the last 7 + years I have been blogging on a regular basis on several blogs.  Anyways here is the link and you can check it out https://medium.com/personal-brand/d5e0a3c3b7a4

Oops, just realized one video didn't show up.  Fixing it now
I always loved that movie Pay It Forward,

Here's the one I missed and it's the key!!!

it's a wonderful movie that is sad, inspiring and deals with many of todays real life issues.

Surfing Facebook today came across this video about Neknomination a drinking game that is gone viral and resulted in 2 deaths.  http://globalnews.ca/news/1136850/1136850/

As this video points out this type of game has been around a long game and it asks the question what can be done about it. It also points out some great people that flipped this thing on it's head and came up with Raknomination- Random Acts of Kindness.

I hope we see more of this. Please share widely and inspire people to do more RAK-random acts of kindness.

Update: Oh this one is so sweet, just had to add it!!

Dear Pete, May you Rest In Peace, your music was transforming, amazing and life changing.  I just loved it growing up and it's never left me. I've been imprinted for life by it. Especially Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" and so many others.

Peter "Pete" Seeger (May 3, 1919 – January 27, 2014) was an American folk singer. As a songwriter, he was the author or co-author of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" (with Joe Hickerson), "If I Had a Hammer (The Hammer Song)" (composed with Lee Hays of the Weavers), and "Turn, Turn, Turn!", which have been recorded by many artists both in and outside the folk revival movement and are still sung throughout the world.

This too is such a BEAUTIFUL SONG!! If I had a Hammer- Peter Seeger 1956

These are my two favorite verses, just listen to what he is saying here, so powerful and moving...Pete Seeger was a amazing soul.
Lyrics
I'd ring out danger,
I'd ring out a warning
I'd ring out love between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.

It's the hammer of Justice,
It's the bell of Freedom,
It's the song about Love between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.

If I had a hammer,
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening,
All over this land

I'd hammer out danger,
I'd hammer out a warning,
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.

If I had a bell,
I'd ring it in the morning,
I'd ring it in the evening,
All over this land

I'd ring out danger,
I'd ring out a warning
I'd ring out love between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.

If I had a song,
I'd sing it in the morning,
I'd sing it in the evening,
All over this land

I'd sing out danger,
I'd sing out a warning
I'd sing out love between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.

Well I got a hammer,
And I got a bell,
And I got a song to sing, all over this land.

It's the hammer of Justice,
It's the bell of Freedom,
It's the song about Love between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.

It's the hammer of Justice,
It's the bell of Freedom,
It's the song about Love between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.

Folk legend and outspoken activist Pete Seeger dies
Seeger's music won him heaps of accolades, among them a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a Harvard Arts Medal, the Kennedy Center Award, the Presidential Medal of the Arts and a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In 2006, Bruce Springsteen released We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions, an album that introduced a whole new generation to the folk hero’s music.

Bonus: I've never seen this..Going to watch it now

So something I have never really talked about on my blog is bodyweight.  I have struggled ....oh my God how I have struggled....but mostly in the past...I am happy with my body image for the most part now...but it took years.

The first time I thought I was fat was when I was about 12 maybe and I had a little tiny tummy bulge and a friend of my brother's called it a spare tire..until then it never occurred to me. That started it..I had this friend in school whose mom had a yoga tv show and this girl did fasting and they suggested  try it. Insanity. It started me on this terrible rollercoaster of not eating for a day or two and then of course as soon as you cave I would bing.

My weight fluctuated most of my teens between 5-20 lbs over what is considered "normal" by those stupid charts...

I remember I had all these stupid diaries...they were diet diaries,,...every page was crossed out..tomorrow I will start again...

In my 20's I went on this liquid, chocolate bar diet, you know those dum meal replacement things...oh I lost weight alright, I went down to like 105 and I was so happy, but then something happened, I had to quit my job due to tendonitis  and I was depressed and I also quit smoking(a very nasty habit that I am so glad I beat) and I gained....I was 150lbs. It's hard to believe looking back.

I remember how critical all my friends from back then were of people who were not as slim as they thought they should be. I remember one saying "I would kill myself if I got that fat!!"  What a terrible sad thought...

Needless to say I had to get away from all that and I moved to the Kootenays and started college as a mature student. I met someone and he didn't mine my love handles and with routine of school and being loved for who I was, I did slim down again.

When I came back to the coast and went to school here well living on student budget and packing heavy photography equipment everywhere I got pretty slim again.

And I felt good for a long time about my weight. I didn't diet anymore I just tried to eat healthy. When I got pregnant at 40 with my little cherub I gained about 45 lbs but it was all good...after I had her it took a few years but it all came off.

It was when my mom passed away (we'd moved back to the Kootenays) that I got really really thin, every day I would shovel snow to get rid of the stress of my mom being sick and then when I was in mourning after she passed. I was like a 100lbs.

One day, I think it was Angel's birthday I looked in the mirror ...at my neck and YUCK!! I thought, my God I look awful...my boobs were all saggy and seriously FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE...I thought I am too thin.

When my mom was alive mom would always tease and call me "Ana" short for Anorexia...she was trying to make me recognized in the nicest, gentlest way to cut it out and eat more.

Anyways, that was a turning point. I like to have a little meat on me...and if I gain a bit, hey I know it's okay I can walk it off.  I never count calories or anything...I just try to eat healthy and  walk a lot.

Sometimes things have been tough and I wouldn't eat so well, so that my kid could but hopefully that won't happen any more.

Do I have a tummy, yes, but I don't care anymore. I am so glad to be free of all that ugly stress. It worries me to see so many girls and women still struggling with this...

I am so glad people are talking about it, I've spoken with my daughter about it and I think she understands it all. She is just in her tweens and I've shown her many videos on the topic, just as I will show her this one.

I'm not sure where we are in this battle with the media and our culture it is all still really warped out. How can we teach people to love themselves. With education and talking about it, with videos, and apps about medititation...

It's going to take a lot of work...we have a long long way to go but it's great to see videos like this. Thanks for sharing your stories, thanks for the poem Natalie, thanks Soulpancake....keep up the good work.

Now Repeat After Me. I LOVE MYSELF JUST THE WAY I AM!! I AM BEAUTIFUL!!
Because your really are. We all are!!...

I tried to find some old photos to show you but there's nothing on this computer...so they must be in storage

The learners of Community Montessori worked for months and months to prepare their amazing rendition of "Brave" by Sara Bareilles. Enjoy! Learn more about their mission by visiting www.bebrave4education.com

About this video: The Brave Leadership Team is from Community Montessori Charter Public School in New Albany, Indiana. We believe that education should be about serving needs of the whole child (social, emotional, physical, moral, intellectual, aesthetics and creative), and we are confident that we are not alone! While assessment has its place, the standardized testing movement is ultimately restricting education in a BIG way. We're taking matters into our own hands. Be brave, and help us bring change from the bottom up.

I see the next "1st Women South Africa Black President" Don't you? Amazing Child!! Beautiful. I cried so much watching this.

And this was entertaining, powerful and beautiful!! I feel so blessed to her this child speak and performance with such honor, presence and grace.

If they don't choose one soon well this little 11 year will definitely be a excellent choice, she's obviously wise beyond her years.
