A story about hope Toad People is an inspiring new documentary film project produced by the Wilderness Committee about people in communities across British Columbia who are taking action to save the wildlife in their backyards.
The
30- to 40-minute film tells the story of fingernail-sized juvenile
western toads that migrate every year from the wetlands where they were
born to the forest where they live, and the community members who have
come together to help them make that journey safely. We call these
wildlife defenders Toad People
I want to say THANK YOU Raffi, for creating this lovely song and I hope it unites and enlightens through it's lovely melody. Democracy....so important and it's important to teach children early about it so they understand how it can be threatened.
Raffi's Bio Millions know Raffi for his work as a children’s entertainer whose
string of gold and platinum-selling recordings in North America includes
his classic “Baby Beluga” song with its beloved melody and lyrics. But a
very interesting piece of Raffi’s story is not as well known: Raffi’s
pioneering commitment to honouring his young fans changed the way we
came to view music made for children. Founding his own record label,
Troubadour, then folk musician Raffi set out on a path that rescued
children’s recordings from bargain bin pricing and sub-par production
values.
In 1976, with help from Ken Whiteley and Daniel Lanois, Raffi made
sure that his recordings met the highest standards. Raffi convinced
retailers that parents would pay regular price for quality music for
their children, and he was right. Teachers, parents and kids took an
immediate liking to the kind of songwriting and recording Raffi offered,
perhaps because of the respect that was obvious in his material and the
playful delivery that always clicked with the kids. Soon, the media
were knocking at Raffi’s door.
Because of his belief that children should not be exposed to too much
television viewing and that they should not be directly marketed to,
during his thirty-year career as a superstar of kid’s music Raffi
refused all offers for commercial television shows and commercial
endorsements. Even recently, when approached by a Hollywood production
company to do a film based on “Baby Beluga,” he declined when told that
the film’s marketing would include direct advertising to children. This
is only one of a series of lucrative deals Raffi and Troubadour have
declined over the years.
It's on the TV, the election process is a disgusting example of bullying.
The House of Commons showed appalling displays of bullying with heckling the speakers, that appear to have stopped since Elizabeth May called them out on it!!

It's in our homes, spouses, siblings, parents...are guilty.
It starts early. In children it starts in pre-school.
IT HAS A LONG DARK HISTORY WITH OUR FIRST NATIONS IN CANADA STEMMING FROM COLONIALISM AND THE CATHOLIC RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS.
We can change it. You just have to recognize and learn where and why it happens.
Tomorrow is Pink Shirt day!
Pink Shirt Day. On February 24, 2016 we
encourage everyone to wear something pink to show that we are all
working together to prevent bullying in our schools, in our communities
and online. Pink Shirt Day comes from two Nova Scotia high school
students, who decided to take a stand against bullying in their own
school.

The beginning of this video is really hard to watch but it's a really great video
I was raised on a little hobby farm from when I was born to the about 7...and we had animals after that ...we never had a cow but we did have pigs, rabbits, chickens and cats, dogs etc.
I believe my dad instilled great respect and values for animals and food. He had been raised in Saskatchewan and I know they had a farm and cows...I don't know much about my dad as he passed away when I was little but I am so grateful for the love of nature he instill in me.
My mom loved animals too, and she was a huge influence on me. I have been wanting a garden for so long and to escape the city life for rural. But it's not easy anywhere right now. People are detached.
They have lost their way, they don't understand what's happening.
Sadly I admit that being poor and then given the opportunity for big wage I sold out and I worked at Lilydale the turkey processing plant. That place took it's toll on my body and brain and I will pay the price for the rest of my life.
Hopefully though, because I worked in many farm environments before that I can use my knowledge and experience to somehow enlighten YOU and others of what's happening out there.
Most people want to turn away, and that's understandable, we don't want to think of caged and living things being killed or exploited.
We have to make big changes and we have to teach our children, and give them experiences so they can learn the value of life and food and balance.
When Angel was 10 we went Woofing, that means to work on an organic farm in exchange for food and shelter, there was a lot of ups and downs but we did have some great experiences and one of the best was Angel learning to milk a cow....something I have never done. In the video above where she mentions that everyone should be a farmer for a day, is BRILLIANT!!
Everyone needs to go and personally see how and where their food comes from. And then get on the bandwagon with me and start demanding local food. Just small local people growing, raising, sharing, bartering and selling their food. numerous Hereditary Chiefs, Scientists, MLAs and MP who are standing
together to protect Flora Bank from Petronas LNG a "rag tag group of
people". She lies when she says that all the elected and hereditary
leaders called for retraction of the declaration (they didn't). She lies
and insults when she says the First Nations in the region are "hungry"
for LNG. She then makes the audacious and insulting nineteenth century
colonial statement that "LNG poses the first opportunity post-contact
for First Nations communities to build the kind of community they want."
Seriously? How about a future with wild salmon?
