Cultural Curation

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Cultural Curation, I love that term. Read below Rebecca Coleman's experience, I believe it's a very common theme these days and it's wonderful and special. I know I love looking at old photos, and the home movies my dad made are SO special, as he died when I young, but he made those memories for me.

I may not have really remembered all the things he documented if I didn't have those movies to look at and thus trigger the memories. Even the photos of my grandmas house in Vancouver and watching it be built. I am glad my grandfather was good photographer and took all those photos. They are like gold to me.

Rebecca tells about and conference she went to recently and some points the Keynote speaker made. To Quote Rebecca...

"A couple of weeks back, at the #Eat.Drink.Tweet conference, the keynote was delivered by a guy named Rick Bakas, whose claim to fame is that he was the very first Director of Social Media in the wine industry ...

Rick Bakas

"legacy of thoughts, photos and even conversations he would be leaving to his own grandchildren via blogs, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr: a kind of cultural curation, he called it. "

 Quoting Rebecca-
"It’s pretty cool when you think about it. My son is growing up in a time where I’ll often hear him say “Hey, Mom, take a picture of this and put it on Facebook.”

And he even knows how to do that himself.

Finding Balance

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

Hi Everyone, So you may have noticed that things look a little different around here.

I am joining all my blogs together, so it's like a website.

Why? you may ask.

I am seeking balance. I'm tired and I have a bad cold. I've been blogging alot and building my Tina'z Social Media Workshop. It's alot and then I take care of my little girl, who I homeschool, 24/7.

So the way I plan to do it is blog 1x a week on each blog, as some of my blogs get neglected, and they shouldn't. Also I need to make time for my Workshops. So this is my way of having my cake and eat it.

It's a beautiful day here today in Vancouver and I am going to see someone I love dearly who is in the hospital.

Another way of finding balance. I haven't seen this person in over a year. They will be 90 soon, I can't put this off.  Shameful, but she moved and well there's been alot of other factors, we moved, we had colds, we had lessons, no money, but everything is coming together and I am really looking forward to our Adventure today!!

I appreciate a little prayer and positive thought from you for our journey and for my loved one please! Thanks, that's helps.

Okay so stay tuned, as I find balance and share all the things I love and cherish and hold dear to my heart with YOU. Have a great day! Big hugs all!

Alley'Oop Hoop Dance

The World of Alley’Oop

This is a performance I did for Hoop Convergence 2010 which highlights the fusion with Native Hoop Dance I have been working on. It was a performance like no other, as the audience was made up of hoopers, which was exciting and unnerving all in the same moment. It was great however to really show what I’m working on to people as into this art as I am. Big thanks to Terrance Littletent for all of his inspiration and teachings and to Julia Hartsell, for bringing the international community together.

Rebuilding My Blogs in Websites

So something Super Cool Happened last night about this time. A musician I know needed a website, but cash is tight and so I told him I would build him a blog instead.

He liked it, at first, but then said he needed something clean and easy for clients to find his info, as he has a lot of experience, plays with alot of different bands and has different bios, etc.

I told him what he was describing was a website and if that's what he wanted he'd have to pay the webhosting fees,(we're bartering a blog in exchange for drum lessons for my daughter) but I told him I could try to build him something with the pages feature on Blogger.

Well a Miracle happened. A real Break Through, for me anyways, because I don't know if anyone else is doing it. I haven't heard of it if they are. Anyways, here is my new website for Tina'z Social Media Workshop http://tinazsocialmediaworkshop.blogspot.com  I think it's really great! I am really happy with the results.

Before-Tina'z Social Media Workshop- Blog

After-Tina'z Social Media Workshop- Blog- Now A Website

Anyways I created the website/blog for the musician and another for client who was having a hard time getting the right personel at his school to give him the info he need to upload his site to the server.

We've been waiting months to upload it, so tonight I just turned the blog I originally created as part of his website, into his website and now he's online.

I'll show you both these sites in bit after the clients have had a chance to look at them and they are totally fine tuned.

I still have lots of info to add to Tina'z Social Media Workshop, but I added a Job board today and I'll get it all done soon but wanted to take care of my clients first.

So just wanted to warn you there are some major facelifts coming to my blogs so Stay Tuned!! And be patience if they happen to act weird as I may be working on it as your viewing it. So your patience is REALLY APPRECIATED.

Okay thanks for reading. Have great night. I better get to bed, I was falling asleep typing a few minutes ago. :) Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

** Just a little note, isn't amazing this happened after two things, I watched the video Forgiveness is a Gift Video ( a couple of times)  (and really tried to put into practice what it said)  and I posted the Pay It Forward -Video.  I really feel like I was blessed with this knowledge in response to the positive energy that is flowing right now with all the sharing of wonderful videos and info from Four Years. Go and so many other amazing videos I am seeing and sharing. I really feel so truly blessed right now. Thank you Universe, God and all the positive energies and everyone for sharing you positive energy with me. I truly do appreciate it!

Forgiveness is a Creative Act

To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you. ~ Lewis B. Smedes

Most of us carry around anger, resentment, jealousy, or some other negative emotion directed to others. Unless dealt with, they will eventually start to broadly affect the quality of our lives and those around us.

Forgiveness is the act of unchaining yourself from thoughts and feelings that bind you to an offense, imagined or real, committed against you.

It is a commitment to a process of growth and change. The first step is to recognize the value of forgiveness and the positive impact it can have in our lives.

When we forgive, we release the control and power of the offending person and stop playing the victim. We no longer define our lives by how we have been hurt and instead can define ourselves by how we have grown.

Anger makes you smaller, while forgiveness forces you to grow beyond what you were.~ Cherie Carter-Scott

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

So my experiment worked, and I'm super impressed with the results, and I'll show you them in second, but let's recap for a moment. As mentioned Google loves new material, and by using SEO I was able to get on the first page of Google with each of these titles in less than 12 hours. That's Super Impressive I think. But before I go tooting my horn to much, it only worked with the word Vancouver, that's what made it unique, other wise I don't show up, EXCEPT for Social Media Super Hero, THEN I am #1 on Page 1

Check it out and compare to my other post Social Media Manager
http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com/2011/04/tina-winterlik-social-media-manager.html

So here are the titles I googled
Social Media Manager,  Social Media Manager Vancouver
Social Media Maven, Social Media Maven Vancouver
Social Media Specialist, Social Media Specialist Vancouver
Social Media Superstar, Social Media Superstar Vancouver
Social Media Super Hero, Social Media Super Hero Vancouver
Social Media Superhero. Social Media Super Hero Vancouver

Here are the results.
Social Media Manager - no where to be found
Social Media Manager Vancouver - # 7on page 1 -Not counting 2 ads at top of page
Social Media Manager Vancouver
Social Media Maven -no where to be found
Social Media Maven Vancouver  - # 3 on page 1
Social Media Maven Vancouver

Social Media Specialist- no where to be found
Social Media Specialist Vancouver - #9 on page 1
Social Media Specialist Vancouver
Social Media Superstar- no where to be found
Social Media Superstar Vancouver - #1 on Page 1- Yayyyyy! I am a Superstar!!! ;)
Social Media Superstar Vancouver

Social Media Super Hero- #4 on Page 1
Social Media Super Hero Vancouver -#1 on Page 1

Yay!!! I am a Social Media Super Hero!!

Social Media Superhero Vancouver

Social Media Superhero #5 on Page 1
Social Media Super Hero Vancouver #1 on Page 1 and the four top spots
Social Media Superhero Vancouver

So am I  a  Social Media Maven in Vancouver, and also a Social Media Specialist in Vancouver, and a Social Media Superstar Vancouver and a Social Media Super Hero,  and Social Media Super Hero Vancouver, Social Media Superhero. and a Social Media Super Hero Vancouver?

You bet your booties!! And I just showed you why!!

In hindsight, I guess I should have grabbed my Facebook Page for Social Media Super Hero, but Facebook was going thru so many changes and I was just learning about pages...so we have to share the love ;) that's okay. Just remember Social Media Super Hero Facebook Page is NOT me!

So now if you saw my posts for Billboard Blogposts and were hesitant, now you have no reason to be.  IF you live in Vancouver then you know I can get you on the first page of Google.

Google- Ice Cream Salut!

Ice Cream Sundae

Sundae King

Google Ice Sundae

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sundae

The sundae is an ice cream dessert. It typically consists of a scoop of ice cream topped with sauce or syrup, and in some cases other toppings including chopped nuts, sprinkles, whipped cream, or maraschino cherries.

Classic Sundae

The original sundae. Vanilla ice cream topped with a flavored sauce or syrup, whipped cream, and maraschino cherry. These sundaes are typically named for their flavored syrup, cherry sundae, chocolate sundae, strawberry sundae etc.

Hot Fudge Sundae

The classic hot fudge sundae is a variation on the classic and is often a creation of vanilla ice cream, sprinkles, hot chocolate sauce (hence the "hot fudge"), whipped cream, nuts, and a single bright-red maraschino cherry on top. A hot fudge sundae can be made with any flavor of ice cream. A caramel sundae is the same except that hot caramel sauce replaces the hot fudge. Occasionally peanut butter or other products replace the hot fudge.

Double Fudge Sundae

It's like a regular hot fudge sundae, except it's two times bigger and served in big dishes like a banana split dish/bowl,. It uses the same ingredients a regular hot fudge sundae uses, including sprinkles, whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry on top.

Turtle Sundae

The popular combination of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, and caramel sauces, and toasted pecans is known as a turtle sundae.

Black and White

This sundae features a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and a scoop of chocolate ice cream with marshmallow topping.

Brownie Sundae

A rich sundae made with brownies, vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, peanuts, hot fudge, and whipped cream, often topped with a single bright-red maraschino cherry. A blondie may replace the brownie, often with caramel instead of chocolate.

Banana Split

Three sundaes in one, side by side between two halves of a banana, sliced lengthwise. Includes strawberry ice cream topped with strawberry syrup, chocolate ice cream topped with chocolate syrup, and vanilla ice cream topped with crushed pineapple. Each scoop is individually garnished with whipped cream and a cherry.

American Parfait

This is a sundae served in a tall glass filled with layers of ice cream and flavorings, such as granola, syrups, or liqueurs.

Tina Winterlik- Social Media Manager

Blog post by Tina Winterlik © 2011

http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com

What's a Social Media Manager?  So maybe you know this or maybe you don't but for almost a year now I've been calling myself a Social Media Super Hero.

The reason being is that last year when I was just learning all this stuff after arriving home from 5 months in Mexico, I needed to find work.

Now I knew that Social Media was getting big but I was still learning alot as I had actually been in Mexico the winter before as well.

During that time I had to limit my internet use, to posting on my blog "Adventures of Angel" (which is now private) and using Skype to call home and send a few emails, but the blog was basically for letting people know what we were doing.

When I got home I rebuilt the entire blog and created Adventurez in Mexico- The Movie which is actually 74 videos- consisting of videos, photos from our 2 winters in Mexico and then set to music. I used Animoto and I was pretty darn thrilled to learn about them and to use their service.

Currently though I have over 500 videos on Youtube - Fairyfotoslady's Channel

I'm actually loading all the videos from Adventurez in Mexico- The Movie to Vimeo because I don't like the way they lay out on my blog, you watch one and then click older posts, so Vimeo will be better. http://vimeo.com/zipolita/videos/sort:oldest

So I knew I needed to learn more Social Media if I was to promote my New Blog - Adventurez in Mexico and the Movie. Hence the name Social Media Super Hero as I was looking for something catchy to hopefully pull people to my blog where I could tell them what I knew.

In the fall I took a Social Media Course at Emily Carr from Rebecca Coleman. I learned how to Twitter and create MailChimp Newsletters, two areas I was lacking but I pretty much knew the rest, except I learned some snazzy Marketing terms like ROI,  Touchpoint & Branding and I got a copy of Rebecca's book

Fast forward almost a year from the time I created my Social Media Super Hero Blog and what you see are job postings and  people looking for or calling themselves Social Media Specialist, Social Media Expert, Social Media Maven, I even went to an interview for a Social Media Superstar.

So that's how I came up with the name Social Media Super Hero   way before a lot of these...At first I was just fooling around, as I was worried people would think unfavourably of it, but now I do take it seriously because I believe we can all be Social Media Super Heros!

Social Media is such an AMAZING phenomenon. It crosses all cultures and brings them together (if they chose) and like one of my daughter's videos- Barbie and the Pegasus - there is a  Staff- Magic Wand, that can not be used in anger or it doesn't work.

I think Social Media is like that, Social Media has Incredible Powers when used for Good!

Social Media has POWER! And when used for good Miraculous things can happen. So we can all use are Social Media Super Hero Powers for good and I know wondrous things will happen.

*Side Note: Social Media puts you in Control. It levels the playing field. It's a Do It Yourself Marketing Plan, unless you are too busy and not interested in doing it yourself, then you hire a Social Media Manager.

** Do It Yourself- My little girl just asked me to help get her a screwdriver so she could fix something. I was going to help but she wanted to do it herself. That brought back an old memory. I told her of when I was 10 my mom & dad bought me a Captains Bed from Sears. They were too busy trying to run a campground, gas station and restaurant to set it up for me. So I did it myself. I guess that's just me.

I don't like to wait for anyone to do it for me, I want to do it myself.

So back to what we were talking about I curious what comes up when you google these.
Social Media Manager,  Social Media Manager Vancouver
Social Media Maven, Social Media Maven Vancouver
Social Media Specialist, Social Media Specialist Vancouver
Social Media Superstar, Social Media Superstar Vancouver
Social Media Super Hero, Social Media Super Hero Vancouver
Social Media Superhero. Social Media Super Hero Vancouver

Let's try a little example here. I googled Social Media Manager Vancouver - remember I told you it's new term- look what I got.
Google Search -Social Media Manager - Vancouver -April 2/2011 5:47 pm PST

So I am as curious as you, if this will work. One thing I have always said, and I discovered this over the years of building websites and creating blogs, is that Google grabs your blog, before a website, unless it's the exact title, but I can usually end up on the first page somewhere, so let's see what happens. The reason is the blog has new info all the time, and Google likes new info.

So let's explore that term a little more, I Googled Social Media Manager

Google Search - Social Media Manager- April 2/2011 5:53 pm PST

So what is a Social Media Manager- Let's Ask Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Scottstephensmith/Social_Media_Management

Social Media Management is the business related function of managing multiple social media channels for the purposes of marketing communication, reputation protection, and customer acquisition.

The practice utilizes the internet technology of social media to talk directly to individual customers and create a level of brand involvement and loyalty not possible with traditional media strategies.

It reaches beyond marketing and into functions such as sales, human resources, and project management.

History
Social Media Management was not formerly introduced in the workplace until late 2007, as social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter grew to extremely large user counts.

It's importance became more universally recognized for its effectiveness during the 2008 presidential election in which Barack Obama was able to mobilize a massive proportion of young population using a far reaching social media campaign.

*Hmmm, this is super interesting, I love Wikipedia, I didn't know this because we were in Mexico when this all happened.

Twitter and Facebook were used to mobilize young voters and several debates were held using questions posed in the form of YouTube videos.[1]

Rise In Marketing
A number of companies began utilizing social media networks as a way to inexpensively communicate directly with their customers.

Facebook, in particular, allowed for businesses to target ads according to a number of very specific demographic characteristics. As businesses became more active a number of free and subscription based web applications were developed to help teams plan marketing efforts, track their campaigns, measure effectiveness, and engage customers across multiple networks.

Marketing agencies began to develop departments dedicated to social media in order to serve the growing demand for a social presence in marketing.

As the field grew, it became important for businesses to be more active and dedicate entire teams to social media marketing, establishing the role of a Social Media Manager. This was initially restricted to marketing.[2]

 Careers

A Social Media Manager is responsible for directing a company's social media strategy.[6] The position is typically responsible for:
  • Coordinating social media campaigns
  • Managing existing customer relationships
  • Acting as an advocate of social media integration within the company's strategy
  • Providing benchmarks and analyzing user data, including demographics and brand involvement
  • Promoting sales and commerce through social media channels
  • Monitoring the competition and industry trends, specifically their online marketing efforts
  • Posting job openings and actively recruiting potential candidates
  • Recording and reporting feedback to internal teams to help mold overall strategy and exploit opportunities
So Since am Self- Employed, I do all these things, so the title definitely fits. (  ;) but I think Social Media Super Hero does have a nicer ring to it ;)

Community Manager--?
The community manager has a similar role to the Social Media Manager, but with a more narrow focus. They are responsible for managing communications between the company and its customers, specifically through social media avenues such as Facebook and Twitter.[7] They would likely handle the following:
  • Responding to customer feedback, reviews, and questions
  • Proactively contacting prospective customers
  • Building relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Generating content and consumer targeted promotions
  • Engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate
  • Building an active brand ambassador network to spread the word about the company’s websites, services and products
I don't know why this has a such a strange title, it doesn't seem to fit at all and I believe that it falls under the Social Media Manager

VP
A Vice President of Social Media is generally responsible for a company’s external online business presence in relation to a variety of functions including marketing, sales, human resources, and project management.[8] Their team reaches beyond the scope of a single department and aims to add value to multiple channels why increasing efficiencies.

Personally I still think this is wrapped up under the Social Media Manager and well I think these terms need re-defining. As I mentioned this is all new stuff and people are just making up names and assigning duties.

Let's check out Social Media Maven
Google Search- Social Media Maven- April 2/2011 6:07 pm PST

How about Social Media Specialist
Google Search -Social Media Specialist- April 2/2011 6:10 pm PST

What about Social Media Specialist Vancouver
Google Search- Social Media Specialist Vancouver- April 2/ 2011 6:13 pm PST

Let's try Social Media Superstar
Google Search- Social Media Superstar- April 2/2011 6:15 pm PST

Well of course, we have to try Social Media Superstar Vancouver
Google Search - Social Media Superstar Vancouver- April 2/2011 6:18 pm PST

Now if we just join the words Social Media Super Hero together like in Social Media Superhero, look what happens, I go below that other guy on facebook...hmmm, wonder why.

Social Media Super Hero
Google Search- Social Media Superhero- April 2/2011 6:35 pm PST

Social Media Superhero Vancouver

Social Media Super Hero Vancouver

Okay so for this last one I joined two printscreens together so I could show you better that I'm on most of the page but these MLM Superhero sneaks in first.

Okay the point of all this is, I want to see if in the next while when people type any of the following terms:
  • Social Media Manager
  • Social Media Manager Vancouver
  • Social Media Maven
  • Social Media Maven Vancouver
  • Social Media Specialist
  • Social Media Specialist Vancouver
  • Social Media Superstar
  • Social Media Superstar Vancouver
  • Social Media Super Hero
  • Social Media Super Hero Vancouver
  • Social Media Superhero
  • Social Media Super Hero Vancouver

in these terms I come up. So let's see what happens shall we. Hopefully Tina Winterlik Social Media Manager, or Tina Winterlik Social Media Specialist will come up. We already know that Tina Winterlik Social Media Super Hero comes up.

Playpumps International- Water for People

How PlayPumps Works

While children have fun spinning on the PlayPump merry-go-round (1), clean water is pumped (2) from underground (3) into a 2,500-liter tank (4), standing seven meters above the ground.

A simple tap (5) makes it easy for adults and children to draw water. Excess water is diverted from the storage tank back down into the borehole (6).

The water storage tank (7) provides a rare opportunity to advertise in outlaying communities. All four sides of the tank are leased as billboards, with two sides for consumer advertising and the other two sides for health and educational messages. The revenue generated by this unique model pays for pump maintenance.

The design of the PlayPump water system makes it highly effective, easy to operate and very economical, keeping costs and maintenance to an absolute minimum.

Capable of producing up to 1,400 liters of water per hour at 16 rpm from a depth of 40 meters, it is effective up to a depth of 100 meters.

As part of Water For People’s integration of PlayPumps technology into its portfolio of community water options, we will modify the system and its operation to fit the needs of local communities and improve sustainability. This includes investing resources in catalyzing local entrepreneurs to service the systems, as well as reducing tank height, keeping potential advertising revenue in the community, etc.

Billboard Blogposts- Get Promoted on Tina Winterlik-Blog

Introducing Billboard Blogposts! A Revolutionary Blog Idea that will possibly change the way people blog. By Promoting Ideas I Love and Embrace on My Blog, I am able to Share The Love and the Knowledge. http://tinawinterlik.blogspot.com/p/introducing-billboard-blogpost.html

For the Client this means Breadcrumbs, a Teaser to Get People to your Front Door. Blogs, Website, Facebooks they've become Real Estate.

Now that the Old Marketing ways are Dying or Dead...i.e. Yellow Pages, Posters, Flyers, Newspapers, SOCIAL MEDIA is the ONLY way to go.

Consider this, putting Full-Page Ad in a Newspaper. Only this Fabulous Idea ACTUALLY links People to YOUR FRONT DOOR and Takes Them by the Hand right there and DropsThem Off.

Most Blogs JUST put up a Paragraph and then you click a link to see more.

NOT MINE! Tina Winterlik's Blogs are DIFFERENT. I'm a progressive thinker, always ahead of the pack..problem is I many times I give up waiting for everyone and move to a new project.

NOT THIS TIME, NOT LATELY, I have the tools, the SOCIAL MEDIA SUPER HERO TOOLS and I'm SHARING  them with YOU!.

SHARING THE LOVE!  Check Out My Blogs and Then Fill in the FORM and Contact Me!

In Most Cases I Can Do almost Same Day Turn Around IF it's international or you just want Package #1, Local Clients requiring Package #2  is just a few days more.

So Come On...What Are You Waiting For. If you have a Budget for Marketing that is just Simmering because you don't know what to do...because Old Style Marketing is Dead! Talk to Me! I'm here to Help!

I have All the Skills, Time and Drive.

Think About This! I came up with this Idea this morning, April 1st (and It's no Joke!) I created the forms, wrote the copy, created the blog page, shot the video, edited it, added music, uploaded to Youtube and I'm posting it on my blog this very moment.

Ask Yourself  "What Can She Do For Me in A Day?"
